# Everlyst Everlyst is a review-first Etsy bulk listing manager. Sellers connect their shop through Etsy's official OAuth API, then work from a synced, searchable catalog: bulk edit every major listing field, preview a diff before changes apply, schedule updates, import and export CSV, and back up and restore listings with snapshots. It also surfaces performance analytics, listing health, and per-listing fee breakdowns from real sales data. Everlyst is Etsy-only and deliberately AI-free, so every change stays seller-controlled and reviewable. # Tools ## Etsy Profit Calculator https://everlysthq.com/tools/profit-calculator/ Sale price in, true margin out - every Etsy fee accounted for, with country-specific payment processing and offsite ads. ## Etsy Fee Calculator https://everlysthq.com/tools/fee-calculator/ Every Etsy fee itemized for your country - listing, transaction, processing, Offsite Ads, regulatory - plus your effective fee rate. ## Etsy Pricing Calculator https://everlysthq.com/tools/pricing-calculator/ Turn materials, labor, shipping, fees, and target margin into a minimum viable listing price. ## Sales Goal Calculator https://everlysthq.com/tools/sales-goal-calculator/ Set a monthly profit goal and see the sales you need per month, week, and day - computed through the real Etsy fee stack. ## Etsy Title Character Counter https://everlysthq.com/tools/title-counter/ Real-time 140-character counter with SEO tips that update as you type - banned characters, repeated words, keyword density, and more. ## Etsy Tag Checker https://everlysthq.com/tools/tag-checker/ Validate every tag slot - character limits, duplicates, title overlap, and single-word tags that waste a slot. ## Etsy Listing Checklist https://everlysthq.com/tools/listing-checklist/ Run every new or refreshed listing through a 50-point pre-publish QA pass. Relisting on Etsy means putting a listing back in front of buyers, but sellers use the word for two different actions. Sometimes they mean manually renewing a listing that is still active. Other times they mean bringing back a listing that has expired, [sold out](/glossary/sold-out), or been [deactivated](/glossary/deactivated-listing). Those actions can look similar from the buyer's side because the item is available again. They are not the same decision for the seller. The listing's current state determines which control you use, whether the listing fee applies, and what should be reviewed before the item returns. That distinction matters because relisting is often discussed as a search tactic. It is better understood as a catalog decision. First decide whether the listing deserves to be live. Then decide whether it is ready to return unchanged. ## What relisting actually does Relisting does not create a clean slate. When Etsy renews a listing, it gives the listing a new listing date and a new expiration date while keeping its original web address, views, and favorites. The practical steps depend on why the listing is not available. **Expired listings.** A listing expires when its listing period ends and it is not set to renew automatically. Renewing it makes it active for another listing period and charges the $0.20 USD [renewal fee](/glossary/renewal-fee). Before confirming, check the quantity, price, processing time, shipping details, and renewal setting. An old listing can be technically ready to renew while still carrying information that is no longer accurate. **Sold-out listings.** A sold-out listing needs stock before it can return. If you have more of the item, renew the listing and set an available quantity. Etsy charges the $0.20 USD renewal fee. This route makes sense for a repeatable product or a one-of-a-kind item you have genuinely made again. If the replacement differs in a way that changes what the buyer receives, revise the listing before it becomes buyable. **Deactivated listings.** Deactivation removes a listing from the shop while preserving it in Shop Manager. If the listing is still inside its existing listing period, reactivating it does not carry a fee. If that period expired while the listing was inactive, Etsy requires a renewal and charges the $0.20 USD fee before it can return. This makes deactivation useful for a temporary pause, but it does not stop the listing period from running. **Draft listings.** A [draft listing](/glossary/draft-listing) has never been live, so publishing one is not really relisting. Publishing charges the $0.20 USD listing fee and starts its first listing period. Treat a saved draft as a new listing: complete the photos, title, tags, category, attributes, price, quantity, processing, shipping, and policy details before publishing. There is one more use of the term: manually renewing an active listing before it expires. Etsy allows it, and the renewal fee still applies. The listing receives a new listing and expiration date, but paying again does not erase its performance history or turn an unchanged offer into a new product. ## Does relisting improve your ranking A renewed listing can get a small, temporary opportunity in Etsy search. Etsy describes recency as one signal among several and says a renewed listing receives a smaller boost than a newly created listing. The window exists so Etsy can observe how shoppers respond to the listing. That is the useful way to think about [recently active listings](/glossary/recently-active-listings). Relisting may create another chance to be seen, but it does not determine where the listing will stay. Relevance, listing quality, customer experience, and shopper behavior continue to shape [search visibility](/glossary/search-visibility) after the temporary effect fades. The extra exposure cannot compensate for an offer that buyers do not click or buy. A weak first photo still looks weak. A title aimed at the wrong search still attracts the wrong audience. A price, shipping promise, or product detail that creates hesitation still creates hesitation after renewal. For that reason, do not treat a renewal as a promised ranking lift. Etsy's own search guidance says regularly renewing items just for the temporary boost is not an effective search optimization strategy. The better question is whether the listing is ready to convert if it gets another impression. The [Etsy renewals guide](/guides/etsy-renewals-guide) covers the fee economics and the wider listing-lifecycle audit. Use that framework when you need to decide whether a slow listing should keep paying to remain active. Use relisting as the final action after the decision, not as the diagnosis. ## The relisting habit that wastes money The costly habit is renewing active listings on a schedule because each renewal is expected to improve search placement. Every manual renewal charges the listing fee. Repeating the action across a catalog turns a small fee into recurring spend without addressing why a listing is underperforming. The underlying problem is often elsewhere. If a listing gets impressions but few visits, the first photo or title may not be earning the click. If it gets visits but no orders, the price, shipping, product presentation, or buyer confidence may need attention. If it gets little search activity at all, its search terms, category, attributes, or demand may need review. Those patterns are diagnostic clues, not universal rules. Seasonality, inventory, competition, and the age of the data can change what they mean. The renewal audit framework in the renewals guide is the better place to compare views, sales, favorites, and timing before spending another fee. ## Relist, or fix first Relisting unchanged is reasonable when the listing previously sold, the same product is genuinely available again, and its buyer-facing details remain accurate. A seasonal listing may also be ready to return if the season is approaching and the photos, price, quantity, processing time, and shipping setup still match what you can deliver. A short pause is another good case. If you deactivated a listing because materials were unavailable, your workload was full, or you needed a temporary catalog cleanup, reactivation may be all it needs once the original offer is available again. Fix first when the listing had meaningful exposure without enough buyer response, when its strongest photo no longer represents the product well, or when its price and fulfillment details have changed. Also review it when the title and tags describe the item in language buyers are unlikely to use, or when an old category, attribute, variation, or policy choice no longer fits. Do not preserve an old listing unchanged merely because it already exists. Its retained views, favorites, and web address are useful continuity, but they are not reasons to keep outdated information. The goal is to bring back the same accurate offer, not to protect every old field. An older listing's return is a natural moment to use the [Etsy listing checklist](/tools/listing-checklist). Run the listing through the pre-publish checks for photos, title, tags, description, price, variations, shipping, attributes, and policies. Then renew or reactivate it only after the offer is ready for the next buyer. ## Relisting at scale For a catalog of any size, clicking Renew is not the hardest part. The hard part is selecting the right listings. A batch can contain proven products that deserve to return, seasonal items that are still too early, and weak listings that need a revision before another fee is useful. Etsy supports bulk renewal from its Listings view. Select the listings you want to renew, choose Renew, and confirm the selection. Etsy also provides bulk controls for changing renewal options between automatic and manual. Native bulk renewal is useful once the decision set is clean. A catalog workspace helps build that decision set. Everlyst's [All Listings workspace](/features/all-listings) puts active, draft, expired, and sold-out listings in one filterable view, so status is only the starting point. You can narrow the catalog and review the fields that affect whether an item is ready to return. [Dead Stock](/features/dead-stock) focuses the opposite side of the decision: active listings that have not sold inside the window you choose and the renewal costs observed against them. That helps keep poor candidates out of a renewal batch and separates products that need review from products with a clear reason to stay active. [Bulk Edit](/features/bulk-edit) is useful when the selected listings need the same supported field change before they return. It provides a before-and-after review step for catalog edits. It does not replace the judgment about whether an expired or sold-out listing deserves renewal, and Etsy's Listings view remains the direct place to renew a selected batch. The scalable workflow is simple: filter first, review the candidates, fix shared problems where appropriate, and renew only the listings that are ready. Relisting is the last step in the batch, not the strategy that decides what belongs in it. ## How to price Etsy products: a formula that accounts for every fee https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-pricing-guide/ A practical Etsy pricing guide for turning materials, labor, shipping, fees, and target margin into a minimum viable listing price. ## Etsy renewals and listing lifecycle: when to renew, deactivate, or let listings expire https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-renewals-guide/ A practical guide to Etsy renewal fees, auto-renew settings, stale listing audits, and deciding when a listing should stay active. ## Etsy shipping strategy: free shipping, calculated rates, and what actually helps you rank https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-shipping-guide/ A fee-aware Etsy shipping guide for comparing free shipping, calculated shipping, flat rates, buyer perception, and search implications. ## Etsy categories and attributes: the SEO signals most sellers ignore https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-categories-attributes-guide/ Categories and attributes power Etsy's filter sidebar. This guide shows why empty attributes make listings invisible in filtered searches. ## How to write Etsy descriptions that convert https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-descriptions-guide/ Etsy descriptions carry less SEO weight than titles and tags, but they do the conversion work. This guide shows how to structure descriptions buyers can scan and trust. Etsy descriptions do not carry the same search weight as [titles](/glossary/title) and [tags](/glossary/tag), but they are where a curious clicker becomes a buyer. The description does not usually drive the traffic. It converts the traffic. That distinction matters. A description should not read like a second title or a keyword landfill. It should answer the questions a buyer has before they click Add to cart: what is included, what size is it, what is it made from, how will it arrive, and what should they expect after purchase? If you want the broader search system first, read [how Etsy search works](/guides/etsy-seo-guide). This page is the conversion layer. ## How Etsy uses descriptions for SEO Etsy indexes listing descriptions, but the strongest matching signals still come from title, tags, category, and attributes. Treat the description as supporting evidence. Use natural buyer language, include the product terms that genuinely fit, and avoid repeating the title verbatim. Google can also use the start of your description when showing your public Etsy listing in search results. That means the opening line matters more than most sellers think. If the first line says "Welcome to my shop, I am so happy you are here," Google and Etsy both have to work harder to extract the product value. Lead with the item and the reason it matters. Weak opening: > Thanks so much for visiting my shop! I love making special pieces for special people. Stronger opening: > A minimalist gold birth flower necklace personalized with your chosen month, made for everyday layering or a thoughtful birthday gift. The stronger version gives the buyer product, style, customization, use case, and occasion immediately. ## The 160-character rule Everlyst uses 160 characters as the practical snippet target because that is the space where Google snippets and truncated marketplace previews often make their first impression. You do not need to hit exactly 160. You need the first sentence to stand alone. For a handmade physical listing: > Handmade ceramic mug in speckled cream stoneware, sized for a 12 oz coffee and finished with a soft satin glaze. For a digital download: > Editable wedding invitation template for Canva, including matching RSVP and details cards as instant download files. For vintage: > Vintage 1970s ceramic vase with warm brown glaze, subtle studio pottery texture, and small age marks shown in photos. For made-to-order: > Custom pet portrait drawn from your photo, delivered as a printable digital file with one proof round before final art. Each example tells the buyer what they are looking at before the description expands. ## Structure for scannability Etsy descriptions are plain text. You do not get true markdown styling on the listing page, but you can still make the copy easy to scan. Use short sections: > WHAT YOU GET > - One handmade ceramic mug > - Holds about 12 oz > - Speckled cream glaze > - Dishwasher safe, hand washing recommended Then continue with dimensions, materials, care, shipping, and policies. Short lines beat dense paragraphs because mobile buyers skim. A reliable physical-product structure: 1. Opening hook. 2. What is included. 3. Materials and dimensions. 4. How to use or style it. 5. Care instructions. 6. Processing and shipping notes. 7. Policy recap. The order can change by category, but the buyer questions do not. ## Templates by listing type Handmade physical listings need specs. Include size, material, finish, color variation, care, packaging, and processing time. A buyer cannot touch the item, so the description has to close the sensory gap. Digital downloads need delivery clarity. Say whether the files are PDF, PNG, SVG, Canva templates, Procreate brushes, or another format. Explain what software is required, what sizes are included, whether anything physical ships, and how the buyer receives the files. Vintage listings need condition detail. Buyers expect age, but they do not expect surprises. Call out chips, repairs, discoloration, missing parts, maker marks, and approximate era. Photos support the claim; the description makes it explicit. Made-to-order listings need process clarity. State what the buyer must submit, how many proof rounds are included, when production starts, whether cancellations are allowed, and what happens if the buyer does not respond. ## What not to put in descriptions Do not paste the title into the first paragraph. Etsy already has the title. Repeating it wastes buyer attention. Do not keyword-stuff. A paragraph that says "gold necklace gift for her minimalist gold necklace dainty gold necklace" will not make a buyer trust you. It can also weaken conversion, which feeds back into [listing quality score](/glossary/listing-quality-score). Do not bury the important facts under your shop story. Your story belongs lower on the page or in your About section. The listing description should sell this item. Do not rely on external links. Etsy strips or limits many external links, and buyers do not want to leave the listing to understand what they are buying. Do not hide policy surprises. If an item is final sale, custom, delayed, digital-only, or requires buyer input, say it plainly before checkout. ## Descriptions at scale One great description is useful. A repeatable description system is valuable. If you have 200 listings, description quality becomes an operations problem. You need templates by listing type, not one-off copy. The best template leaves room for item-specific details while keeping the buyer path consistent. For example, a digital wedding template shop might keep fixed sections for included files, editing instructions, download steps, printing notes, and license terms. Each listing only changes the design name, sizes, colors, and included pieces. A vintage shop might keep fixed sections for era, maker, condition, measurements, shipping, and care. Each listing changes the object-specific facts. That consistency helps buyers and saves you from rewriting the same policy sentence 200 times. ## Format before you publish Use the [Etsy description formatter](/tools/description-formatter) to clean up messy drafts before they go live. It turns dense copy into Etsy-safe plain text, checks the opening snippet, and helps you keep sections readable. Descriptions are not the whole SEO system. They work best when paired with a strong [title guide](/guides/etsy-titles-guide), a complete [tag strategy](/guides/etsy-tags-best-practices), useful [listing photos](/guides/etsy-listing-photos-guide), and filled category attributes. But once a buyer lands on the page, the description is where doubt gets answered. Write for the buyer who is almost ready. Give them the last few details they need to trust the listing. ## Etsy holiday selling timeline: when to list, promote, and pause https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-holiday-selling-guide/ A year-round Etsy holiday selling calendar for listing seasonal products early, promoting at the right time, and pausing inventory after demand passes. ## Etsy listing photos: specs, strategy, and what the algorithm sees https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-listing-photos-guide/ Etsy listing photos drive clicks, conversion, and listing completeness. This guide shows how to front-load the right phrase, stay inside Etsy's rules, and write titles buyers actually click. Your title is the single highest-weight text signal in an Etsy listing. It is also the first line a buyer reads in search results, so it has to do two jobs at once: help Etsy understand what you sell and make a real shopper want to click. A good title is not a pile of keywords. It is a compact map of the listing: what the item is, who it is for, what makes it specific, and why it matches the search. The strongest titles put the clearest buyer phrase first, then layer in material, color, occasion, style, or format details. If you want the broader system first, start with [how Etsy search works](/guides/etsy-seo-guide). This guide is the title-specific deep dive. ## How Etsy parses titles Etsy reads the title as one of several relevance fields, alongside [tags](/glossary/tag), [category](/glossary/category), [attributes](/glossary/attribute), materials, and the description. The title matters because it is buyer-visible and because Etsy can use the words in it to understand search intent. Observed seller practice is to treat the title as phrase chunks. Commas are useful because they separate ideas without making the title unreadable. For example: > Minimalist Gold Necklace, Dainty Layering Chain, 14k Gold Filled Jewelry, Gift for Her That title gives Etsy and buyers several clear chunks: the product, the style, the material, and the gift intent. It reads like a listing, not a keyword dump. The first phrase matters most because it is what buyers see first. Etsy's own seller guidance tells shops to put important terms toward the front of long titles. On mobile, roughly the first 40 characters carry the search-result preview. If the first words are your shop name, "handmade gift," or a cute collection title, you have spent your most valuable title space on weak information. ## The anatomy of a high-performing title Start with the exact phrase a buyer would type if they were ready to buy. Then add the details that help the listing qualify for narrower searches. For a jewelry listing, a weak title might be: > Beautiful Handmade Necklace, Gift, Jewelry, Gold, Minimalist, Women, Birthday The problem is not that the words are wrong. The problem is that the phrase is vague, repetitive, and hard to scan. A stronger version: > Minimalist Gold Necklace, Dainty Layering Chain, Gold Filled Jewelry, Birthday Gift for Her The stronger title leads with the product phrase, then adds style, material, and occasion. It gives buyers a reason to click and gives Etsy clean phrase matches. For a digital product: > Editable Wedding Invitation Template, Minimalist Canva Invite, Printable RSVP Card, Instant Download For vintage: > Vintage 1970s Ceramic Vase, Brown Studio Pottery Vessel, Mid Century Shelf Decor For custom art: > Custom Pet Portrait, Personalized Dog Drawing, Digital Memorial Gift, Printable Wall Art The pattern is consistent: product first, searchable modifiers next, secondary intent last. ## Title rules Etsy enforces Etsy's title limit is 140 characters. Spaces and punctuation count. If a title is longer than that, you need to cut, not hope Etsy will make sense of it. Use safe punctuation: commas, hyphens, apostrophes, ampersands, periods, parentheses, and forward slashes are generally safe. Avoid symbols that make the listing look spammy or can be stripped by marketplaces, such as repeated exclamation marks, decorative characters, percentage signs, and random separators. Case does not help ranking. ALL CAPS makes the title harder to read and can look like a low-quality listing. Title case or sentence case is safer. Repetition is the mistake sellers make when they are trying too hard. If "gold" appears five times in one title, you have not made the listing more relevant. You have made it harder to read. Everlyst's title checker flags repeated meaningful words at 3 or more uses because that is where a title starts to look stuffed. ## Common title mistakes Leading with the shop name is usually wasted space. A buyer searching "minimalist gold necklace" does not care that your shop is called North Willow Studio until after the product has earned the click. Put the brand at the end if it matters at all. Single-word titles are too broad. "Necklace" or "Template" does not give Etsy enough intent and does not help the buyer decide. Etsy has too much inventory for generic terms to carry a small shop. Long title chains with no structure are also weak. A title like "Gold Necklace Dainty Necklace Minimalist Necklace Layering Necklace Gift Necklace" technically contains keywords, but it reads like spam. Replace repetition with distinct phrases. Do not put shipping, price, or coupon information in the title. Etsy has separate fields for those. The title should describe the item and the buyer intent. ## Title vs. tags: division of labor The title should carry the primary phrase and the most buyer-visible modifiers. Tags should catch variations the title cannot fit. If your title says "minimalist gold necklace," your tags do not need to repeat that phrase exactly. Use tags for adjacent searches like "dainty gold chain," "gift for sister," "everyday necklace," or "gold filled pendant." That division matters because Etsy gives you 13 [tag](/glossary/tag) slots, 20 characters each. Repeating the title word-for-word burns space that could have caught another long-tail query. The title, tags, category, and attributes should reinforce each other without duplicating every word. The [categories and attributes guide](/guides/etsy-categories-attributes-guide) covers the structured side of that system. ## Refreshing titles at scale Title work is high-ROI because it touches every search impression. A clearer title can improve ranking match, click-through rate, and conversion at the same time. The problem is scale. Rewriting one title is easy. Rewriting 200 is a catalog operation. Sellers usually avoid it because Etsy's native editor turns every change into a one-listing-at-a-time chore. Use a repeatable title pattern before you bulk edit: 1. Primary keyword phrase. 2. Style, material, or format. 3. Occasion, recipient, or use case. 4. Brand or collection only if it adds trust. Then apply it across groups of similar listings. Necklaces get one pattern. Digital invitations get another. Vintage ceramics get another. Consistency makes your shop easier to scan and easier to maintain. ## Test the title before it goes live Use the [Etsy title character counter](/tools/title-counter) before publishing. It checks the 140-character limit, mobile preview, repeated words, risky punctuation, and tag overlap in one pass. A title that passes the checker is not guaranteed to rank. Etsy search still depends on [listing quality score](/glossary/listing-quality-score), [search visibility](/glossary/search-visibility), photos, reviews, price, and buyer behavior. But a clean title gives the listing a much better starting point than a stuffed or underwritten one. Titles are the front door. Make the first phrase count. ## Etsy variations: setup, limits, and inventory gotchas https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-variations-guide/ Plan Etsy variations, price and SKU each combination, and avoid the inventory mistakes that can erase options at scale. ## Etsy fees explained: every fee a seller actually pays in 2026 https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-fees-explained/ Etsy charges sellers in at least nine different ways. This guide breaks down every fee, when it's charged, how it's calculated, and what a real $25 sale actually nets you. ## Etsy tags best practices: 13 rules for tags that actually rank https://everlysthq.com/guides/etsy-tags-best-practices/ Tags are 13 slots of free SEO real estate that most Etsy sellers waste. This guide covers the rules Etsy enforces, how tags actually feed search ranking, and the 13 tactics that turn empty slots into qualified traffic. Tags are the single most under-used ranking lever on Etsy. Sellers will spend hours rewriting a title and then paste five generic single words into the tag box and call it done. This guide covers what Etsy's tag system actually rewards, the rules it enforces, and 13 tactics that turn empty tag slots into qualified search traffic. ## Tag rules at a glance | Rule | Limit | | --- | --- | | Max tags per listing | **13** | | Max characters per tag | **20** (spaces count) | | Format | Lowercase phrases (Etsy lowercases input) | | Special characters | Letters, numbers, and spaces only | | Visible to buyers? | No - tags are SEO metadata | | Where they're entered | Listing editor → "Renewal options & tags" | | What else is indexed alongside tags | Title, category, attributes, materials, listing description (lower weight) | ## What tags actually do Tags are short phrases Etsy matches against buyer searches. When a shopper types something into the search bar, Etsy scores every listing on signals like: - **Match quality** - does the buyer's query appear in the title, tags, attributes, or category? - **Listing quality** - recent sales, conversion rate, completed reviews, photo quality. - **Customer & market experience** - shipping time, response rate, Star Seller status. - **Recency** - newer or recently-renewed listings get a small initial boost. Tags are how you tell Etsy *what intents your listing matches*. They don't replace the title (which carries more weight in match scoring), but they catch every long-tail variation the title can't fit. They also help Google: Etsy stuffs tag text into the meta description and structured data of your listing's public page, so a strong tag set shows up in Google search snippets too. ## 13 rules for tags that rank 1. **Use all 13 slots.** Empty slots are queries you'll never appear for. There is zero downside to filling all 13 - Etsy doesn't penalize "trying too hard." 2. **Write multi-word phrases, not single words.** "Necklace" is a war you'll lose to shops with 50,000 sales. "minimalist gold necklace" is a long-tail query you can actually rank on. Aim for 2–4 word phrases in most slots. 3. **Match real search intent, not your internal vocabulary.** Type your candidate phrase into Etsy's search bar and watch the autocomplete dropdown. If it's not autocompleting, buyers aren't typing it. Replace it. 4. **Don't repeat the title word-for-word.** Etsy already indexes the title at higher weight. A tag that exactly mirrors a title phrase is a wasted slot - use it for a *variation* the title doesn't cover. 5. **Skip plurals if the singular is in the title (and vice versa).** Etsy treats singular and plural as essentially the same match for search. Spend the slot on a different phrase. 6. **Avoid synonyms of your category.** If your listing is in the "Necklaces" category, you don't need a tag that just says "necklace." Etsy already knows. Same logic applies to attributes (color, material, occasion) - don't tag what's already structured. 7. **Layer occasion + recipient + style.** "birthday gift for mom" is one tag that pulls three intent signals into 20 characters. These compound phrases convert because the buyer who typed them is far down the funnel. 8. **Use regional or cultural terms when they fit.** "scandi minimalist," "y2k style," "cottagecore decor" - niche aesthetic terms have lower competition and higher conversion than generic descriptors. 9. **Mix broad and specific.** A few medium-competition phrases ("handmade silver ring") plus a few highly-specific ones ("dainty stacking ring set") gives you both volume and intent precision. 10. **Refresh seasonally.** Swap in seasonal phrases ("christmas gift for sister," "valentines day jewelry") 6–8 weeks before peak demand. Pull them after the season so the slot can serve evergreen traffic again. 11. **Audit underperformers monthly.** Pull the search-terms report. Tags that have generated zero impressions in 90 days are dead weight. Replace them with new phrases pulled from autocomplete or competitor scanning. 12. **Don't pad with filler words.** "for" and "the" eat characters. "ring for women" wastes 4 characters that "womens ring band" could have used for an extra signal. 13. **Treat tags as a system, not a list.** Your 13 tags should cover: 2–3 broad intents, 4–5 long-tail variations, 2–3 occasion/recipient combos, 1–2 aesthetic/style terms, 1–2 product-specific descriptors. Map each new listing against this template instead of free-associating. ## Common mistakes - **Single-word tags.** "Jewelry," "gift," "handmade." You will never rank against shops with thousands of sales on one-word queries. Use phrases. - **Tagging materials redundantly.** Etsy has a separate Materials field (13 slots, 45 chars each). If "sterling silver" is in Materials, it's already indexed - your tag slot is better spent on intent ("silver birthday gift for her"). - **Misspellings as a "hack."** Etsy's search corrects common misspellings before matching. You're not catching extra traffic; you're wasting a slot. - **Stuffing one phrase into multiple tags.** "gold necklace," "gold necklaces," "gold chain necklace," "thin gold necklace" - pick one and use the other slots for genuinely different intents. - **Leaving Etsy's auto-suggested tags as-is.** Etsy suggests tags based on your title. They're a starting point, not a finish line. Half of them will be too broad to rank. - **Tagging your shop name or proper nouns.** No one searches for your shop name on Etsy unless they already know you. Use the slot for discovery. ## How to research tags You don't need a paid tool to fill 13 slots well, but a system helps: 1. **Etsy autocomplete.** Type the broadest version of what you sell into Etsy's search bar. The dropdown shows you what real buyers are searching for, ranked by volume. Capture every phrase that fits your listing. 2. **Competitor scanning.** Open the top 5–10 listings ranking for your target query. Tags aren't visible on listing pages, but their titles and SERP snippets will show you which phrases Etsy thinks they're matching. Reverse-engineer the language. 3. **Etsy search-terms analytics.** In your shop dashboard, the "Search terms" report shows actual queries that brought buyers to your listings. Tags should reflect what's already converting, plus adjacent variations. 4. **Google Trends.** For seasonal or trending terms ("y2k jewelry," "coastal grandmother decor"), Google Trends tells you whether interest is rising or falling. Use rising trends as your seasonal swap-ins. 5. **Paid tools (eRank, Marmalead, Alura).** Useful if you're at scale, but autocomplete + analytics + competitor scanning gets 80% of the value for free. ## Bulk-editing tags across your shop Updating tags one listing at a time is the slowest possible way to keep your shop SEO current. Most sellers leave underperforming tags in place for years simply because the manual edit cost is too high. Bulk tag editing changes the math. Pull your full catalog into a workspace, filter to listings that haven't been refreshed in 6+ months, multi-select, and apply tag changes to all of them at once with a diff preview before anything goes live. That's the whole pitch for [Bulk Editing](/features/bulk-edit) inside Everlyst - and the [All Listings](/features/all-listings) workspace is where you discover which listings need the refresh in the first place. ## A note on accuracy Etsy adjusts ranking signals regularly, but the tag *limits* (13 slots, 20 chars, lowercase) have been stable for years. We re-verify every claim on this page against Etsy's official seller documentation and update the "Last verified" date at the top whenever something changes. If you spot a stale rule, [tell us](/about) and we'll fix it the same day. # Glossary ## Abandoned cart https://everlysthq.com/glossary/abandoned-cart/ A cart with items the buyer didn't complete checkout on - Etsy can email the buyer a reminder with an automatic discount. When a buyer adds your listing to their cart and doesn't complete checkout, Etsy can automatically send them a follow-up email a few hours later with a discount code you've configured. This is one of the highest-ROI marketing levers most sellers ignore - it's set-and-forget, and the buyers who get the email already have intent. ## How to set it up 1. Shop Manager > Marketing > Sales and coupons. 2. New sale > "Abandoned cart" type. 3. Pick the discount (10% off, free shipping, or fixed dollar amount). 4. Save. Etsy handles the rest. ## What works - **Free shipping recovery** often outperforms percent-off, because shipping shock is a major cart-abandonment cause. - **Modest discount (10%)** beats aggressive discount (30%) for most shops - you want to recover the order, not eat all your margin. - **Always-on**, not seasonal. Carts are abandoned year-round. ## What to watch - The recovery email goes only to buyers who have an Etsy account and were signed in. Guest checkouts are not recoverable this way. - Abandoned cart discounts stack with other coupons. Be careful with high-percentage codes if you also run shop-wide sales. ## Adjacent: favorited but not bought Etsy doesn't have a "favorited but not added to cart" recovery email. Some sellers run periodic shop-wide sales partly to pull favoriters off the fence - those buyers get notified when you discount a listing they've favorited. Quick facts: - Etsy auto-recovery: yes, via "Abandoned cart" coupon emails - Discount you offer: configurable (e.g., 10% off, free shipping) - Coupon validity: 24 hours typically - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Marketing > Sales and coupons > Abandoned cart Tips: - Turn it on once and leave it. The buyers who recover via this channel cost you literally nothing in marketing time. ## Alt text https://everlysthq.com/glossary/alt-text/ Short text descriptions of each photo, used for screen readers and as a small SEO signal. Alt text is a short description of what's in each listing photo. Screen readers read it aloud for visually impaired buyers. Search engines (Etsy's and Google's) use it as a small relevance signal, particularly for image search. ## What good alt text looks like - **Describe the photo, not the listing.** "Cream ceramic mug on a wooden table next to an open book" beats "ceramic mug 11oz handmade gift." - **Be specific.** Color, material, setting, action. - **Don't keyword-stuff.** "Mug, coffee mug, tea cup, ceramic gift" is the wrong shape - read it aloud and it makes no sense. ## Per-photo, not per-listing Each of your 20 photo slots gets its own alt text field. Filling them all is a small but real completeness signal for Etsy's quality scoring. ## Why most sellers skip it The field is buried - you have to click into each photo individually to add alt text. There's no bulk editor for it natively. So most listings have empty alt text on every photo, which is both an accessibility loss and a small SEO drag. ## At scale A 200-listing shop with 20 photos each has 4,000 possible alt text fields. Filling them by hand is impractical. Either you build a templated approach (e.g., AI-generated alt text from photo + product context) or you use a bulk tool that lets you set alt text per photo per listing in batches. Quick facts: - Where it lives: per-photo on the listing edit page - Character limit: 250 - Buyer-visible: only via screen reader - SEO impact: small but real, especially for image search - Required by Etsy: no Common mistakes: - Copy-pasting the listing title into every alt text slot. Etsy notices the redundancy and the accessibility benefit is zero. Tips: - When you add a new listing, write alt text for the hero photo at minimum. The thumbnail in search benefits most. ## Attribute https://everlysthq.com/glossary/attribute/ A structured piece of metadata Etsy collects (color, occasion, room, holiday) to power filtered search. Attributes are the structured fields Etsy shows you after you pick a category - things like Primary color, Occasion, Room, Holiday, Material, Style, Recipient. They're not the same as tags. Tags are free-text keywords you choose. Attributes are picked from Etsy's controlled list, and they power the **filter sidebar** buyers see on search results pages. If a buyer filters "Primary color: blue," your listing only appears if you've set the blue attribute. ## Why attributes get skipped The "About this listing" section sits below the photos and feels optional. It isn't. Etsy uses attributes to: - Power buyer filters (the left rail on every search page). - Match listings to gift guides, holiday roundups, and themed collections. - Decide if your listing belongs in attribute-narrowed search results that have less competition. A listing with no attributes filled in only appears in unfiltered search. As soon as a buyer narrows by color or occasion, you're invisible. ## How attributes vary by category The set of available attributes is determined by the category you pick. A Jewelry > Necklaces listing gets prompted for chain length, gemstone, metal purity. A Home > Mugs listing gets prompted for material, capacity, theme. Switching categories rewrites the attribute prompts entirely - and any attributes that don't exist in the new category are silently dropped. Quick facts: - Where it lives: Listing edit page > About this listing - Determined by: the category you choose - Buyer impact: powers left-rail filters in search results - Required by Etsy: usually optional, but heavily recommended Common mistakes: - Skipping attributes because the form is long. You're invisible to filtered search until they're filled. - Switching category late in the listing's life - Etsy drops attributes that don't map to the new category, and you have to re-fill them. ## Attribute set https://everlysthq.com/glossary/attribute-set/ The bundle of attribute fields Etsy prompts you for, determined by the category you pick. An attribute set is the specific list of attribute fields Etsy shows you for a given category. Picking "Mugs" gives you one set (capacity, material, theme, holiday). Picking "Necklaces" gives you a totally different one (length, gemstone, metal purity, style). ## What's in a typical set - **Required** - you must fill these to publish. - **Recommended** - Etsy strongly suggests them; missing them hurts visibility. - **Optional** - niche or rarely-relevant fields. ## Why category switches are dangerous When you change a listing's category, Etsy compares the old attribute set to the new one. Attributes that exist in both stay. Attributes that don't exist in the new set are silently dropped. You won't get a warning - you have to notice that fields are now empty and re-fill them. This is the single biggest reason "I changed the category and now my listing doesn't rank" happens. The category is fine; the attribute set lost data in the move. ## At scale A 200-listing shop usually has 5–10 distinct attribute sets across all its listings. Each set has its own filling discipline. Bulk audits are most useful when grouped by category, so you can fill the same attributes across all listings in a single set in one pass. Quick facts: - Per-category: each category has its own attribute set - Mixture: required, recommended, and optional fields - Switching category: drops attributes that don't map to the new set - Where it lives: Listing edit page > About this listing Tips: - Before changing a listing's category, screenshot the existing attributes. After the switch, re-fill anything that disappeared. ## Cart https://everlysthq.com/glossary/cart/ The buyer-side checkout staging area where items wait before purchase - separate from your inventory. The cart is the buyer's holding area for items they intend to purchase. From the seller's perspective, two things matter most: 1. **Cart-adds don't reserve inventory.** A buyer adding the last unit of a listing to their cart doesn't decrement stock. The unit only leaves your inventory when the buyer completes checkout. Two buyers can race for one unit; whoever pays first wins. 2. **You can't see carts.** You don't know who's looking, what they have in their cart, or how many people are circling a listing. ## Multi-shop carts Etsy lets buyers cart items from multiple shops at once. At checkout, Etsy splits the order: each shop is paid separately, gets its own shipping profile, and processes its own piece. The buyer sees one checkout flow but multiple receipts. ## Implications - **Don't overcommit a low-stock listing.** If you have 1 unit and 5 favoriters, the first checkout wins. Sometimes Etsy will allow oversells; you have to message and refund the losers. - **Abandoned cart recovery** (see the entry) is the only seller-facing tool that touches cart behavior. There's no "reach out to people with items in cart" feature. ## Why this often surprises sellers Most other marketplaces reserve cart inventory for a few minutes. Etsy doesn't. For high-velocity products this means oversells happen, and the only fix is staying ahead on stock. Quick facts: - Reservation: items in a cart are NOT reserved out of stock - Cart timeout: buyers can leave items in cart indefinitely - Per-shop checkout: yes - buyers pay each shop separately even with mixed-shop carts - Visible to seller: no, you cannot see what's in any buyer's cart Common mistakes: - Listing one-of-a-kind items at quantity 1 in a high-traffic moment without watching for race conditions. ## Case https://everlysthq.com/glossary/case/ A dispute that's been escalated to Etsy for a final ruling - Etsy reviews evidence and decides. A case is what a dispute becomes when buyer and seller can't resolve it themselves. Etsy steps in, reviews the evidence both sides have submitted, and rules on the outcome. ## How Etsy decides - **Item not as described / not received / damaged** → almost always sides with the buyer if there's any plausible evidence. Tracking helps the seller; lack of tracking sinks them. - **Buyer's remorse** → applies your return policy. Clear policies win you cases here. - **Personalized items** → if your description and policy explicitly exclude personalized returns, Etsy generally honors it. - **Late shipment / no shipment** → buyer-favorable. Use vacation mode if you can't ship. ## What you submit - Tracking information. - Order photos (before shipment if you have them). - Conversation transcripts that show your attempts to resolve. - Reference to your stated return policy. ## What it costs even if you win - Time, plus the dispute open period drags on shop metrics. - Buyer is likely to leave a 1- or 2-star review regardless of the case outcome. ## Why prevention is everything Star Seller tracks open cases as a quality indicator. A pattern of cases - even ones you win - slowly erodes your shop's standing. The cost of preventing cases (clear policy, photos, tracking, fast messages) is a tiny fraction of the cost of losing one. Quick facts: - Escalated from: an unresolved dispute (after 7 days) - Decided by: Etsy support staff - Outcome: refund issued (full or partial) or case closed in seller's favor - Impact: open cases can affect Star Seller and shop standing ## Category https://everlysthq.com/glossary/category/ The Etsy-wide bucket your listing belongs to (e.g., Home & Living > Mugs) - controls which search results you appear in. Category is Etsy's global classification of what your listing is. Picking "Home & Living > Kitchen & Dining > Drink & Barware > Mugs" tells Etsy your listing belongs in mug searches and unlocks the mug-specific attribute set. ## Why category choice is high-stakes - It determines which **attributes** Etsy prompts you for. Wrong category = wrong attributes = invisible to filtered search. - It determines which **category browse pages** include your listing. - It influences **search relevance** - Etsy weighs category match heavily for ambiguous queries. - It's harder to change later than you'd think - switching mid-life drops attributes that don't map to the new category. ## How to pick the right category - Search Etsy for the term a buyer would type. Look at the top results. Note their category. That's almost always your category too. - When in doubt, pick the most specific leaf. "Mugs" is better than "Drink & Barware" which is better than "Kitchen & Dining." - Don't pick a category just because it has lower competition. If your product doesn't belong, conversion will be terrible and Etsy demotes you anyway. ## Category vs. shop section - **Category** is Etsy-wide. Affects search. - **Shop section** is your own. Affects shop home page navigation only. A listing has one category and one shop section. They're independent. Quick facts: - Where it lives: top of the listing edit page - Levels deep: typically 3 (top-level > sub > leaf) - Determines: the attribute prompts you're shown - Affects: which Etsy filtered search results include your listing Common mistakes: - Picking a generic top-level category to "reach more buyers." It's the opposite - generic placement = lower relevance rank. ## Checkout https://everlysthq.com/glossary/checkout/ The final purchase flow where the buyer enters payment and confirms shipping. Checkout is the moment the buyer commits - they enter (or confirm) payment, confirm shipping address, apply any coupon, and place the order. From there, the order lands in your Shop Manager and the clock starts on processing time. ## What Etsy handles - **Payment processing** through Etsy Payments. You can't accept payment outside Etsy for an Etsy order - that's a TOS violation. - **Sales tax** in marketplace facilitator states (most US states now). Etsy collects, remits, and you don't see that money. - **Multi-shop split.** Each shop's portion of a multi-shop cart is a separate transaction, separate fees. ## What you handle - Anything that requires production decisions (a personalization input, special instructions in "Note to seller"). - The shipping carrier choice, label purchase, tracking entry. - Refunds (initiated from your end after order placement). ## Coupon timing Coupons apply at checkout, not at cart. A buyer with items in their cart who doesn't have a code yet won't see discounted pricing until they enter the code on the checkout page. ## Guest checkout Buyers can check out without an Etsy account. They get an order receipt by email; you see them in your orders list with a generated buyer ID. Abandoned cart recovery doesn't reach guest checkouts (no account = no email). Quick facts: - Payment processing: handled by Etsy Payments - Per-shop split: each shop in a multi-shop cart pays separately - Guest checkout: supported (no Etsy account required) - Coupons applied: at the checkout step, not at cart - Tax collected: by Etsy in most US states (marketplace facilitator) ## Conversion funnel https://everlysthq.com/glossary/conversion-funnel/ The path from a buyer's first impression to checkout - impressions → views → favorites → cart → purchase. The funnel is the standard mental model for diagnosing where buyers drop off. Etsy gives you imperfect but workable data at each stage. ## The stages 1. **Impressions** - your listing appears in search results, category pages, recommendations, or ads. (Reported in Stats > Listings.) 2. **Listing views** - buyer clicks through to the listing page. 3. **Favorites** - buyer hearts the listing or adds it to a collection. 4. **Cart-adds** - buyer adds the listing to cart. 5. **Checkout starts** - buyer begins the checkout flow. 6. **Orders** - buyer completes purchase. 7. **Reviews + repeat** - post-purchase loop. ## Diagnosing drop-off - **High impressions, low views** → Hero photo or title isn't compelling in search. CTR problem. - **High views, low favorites** → Photos and price look interesting, but trust signals are weak. Reviews? Shipping cost? Vague description? - **High favorites, low orders** → Buyers like it but didn't buy now. Often pricing or shipping cost; sometimes "saving for later" intent that needs a reminder push. - **High cart-adds, low checkouts** → Shipping shock, account-creation friction, or abandoned cart at the payment step. ## Where Etsy's data is incomplete - Etsy doesn't show per-listing cart-add or abandoned-cart rates directly. You can infer from the gap between favorites and orders, but it's not exact. - Stats lag by ~24 hours. Don't read same-day data as final. Quick facts: - Top of funnel: search/browse impressions - Middle: listing views, favorites, cart-adds - Bottom: orders, then reviews and repeat purchases - Where to measure: Shop Manager > Stats ## Conversion rate https://everlysthq.com/glossary/conversion-rate/ The percentage of listing views that turn into purchases - the single best indicator of listing quality. Conversion rate is the simplest health metric in your shop: of every 100 buyers who saw a listing, how many bought it? Etsy reports it in Stats, and it's what their algorithm uses to decide whether to show your listing more or less in search. ## Healthy vs. unhealthy - **3–4%** is strong for most categories. You're matching intent and pricing well. - **1.5–3%** is normal. Most listings live here. - **Under 1%** is a problem. Either you're attracting the wrong traffic (title/tag mismatch with what buyers want) or the listing converts poorly once visited (photos, price, reviews). ## The Etsy algorithm reality Listings with above-average conversion get more impressions. Listings with below-average conversion get fewer. This is a tight feedback loop - a struggling listing struggles harder over time unless you intervene. ## Diagnosing low conversion 1. **High views, low favorites, no orders** → Title and tags are bringing wrong-intent traffic. Rewrite for buyer language. 2. **High views, high favorites, no orders** → Photos work, listing is interesting, but price or trust is blocking. Check competitor pricing and reviews. 3. **Low views, low everything** → Listing isn't being shown. Title/tag/category/attribute work to do before conversion is even measurable. ## What to ignore Daily fluctuations. Conversion rate needs at least 100 visits to be meaningful - anything less is noise. Quick facts: - Formula: orders ÷ visits - Healthy benchmark: 1.5–4% across most Etsy categories - Where to find it: Shop Manager > Stats - Influences: search ranking, ad efficiency, product-market fit signal Common mistakes: - Reading conversion rate on a 7-visit listing as if it means something. - Optimizing photos when the real problem is wrong-intent traffic. ## Custom order https://everlysthq.com/glossary/custom-order/ A bespoke order negotiated through messages, usually fulfilled via a private listing the buyer purchases directly. A custom order is a fully bespoke job - not just a personalized variation of an existing listing, but a one-off product designed for a specific buyer through back-and-forth messages. ## How the workflow usually goes 1. Buyer messages with a request ("Can you make this in walnut instead of oak, 24" wide?"). 2. You discuss specs, timeline, and price in messages. 3. You create a **private listing** (a real listing, but with "private" toggled on so it doesn't appear in search or your shop). 4. You send the buyer the listing link via message. 5. Buyer purchases the private listing. Standard fees apply. 6. Order processes like any other. ## Why a private listing instead of a public one - The price is buyer-specific and not relevant to other buyers. - The product specs are unique and shouldn't show in search. - Etsy purchase protection only applies to orders placed through the marketplace - sending a Venmo invoice instead of a private listing is a TOS violation and leaves both sides unprotected. ## Cancellation expectations Custom orders are the highest-stakes orders to cancel. The work is buyer-specific and you've often started production. Be explicit in messages about your cancellation terms (e.g., 50% deposit non-refundable after production starts). ## Custom order vs. personalization - **Personalization** is a fixed product with a buyer-input field (name, monogram). Listed publicly. - **Custom order** is a unique product designed for one buyer. Listed privately after negotiation. Quick facts: - Negotiation: in Etsy conversations - Fulfillment: typically a private listing the seller creates and the buyer purchases - Pricing: agreed in messages, set on the private listing - Visibility: private listings don't appear in your shop or in search - Standard fees apply: 6.5% transaction, processing, listing fee Common mistakes: - Taking custom-order payment off Etsy via PayPal or Venmo. TOS violation. Use a private listing. - Not setting cancellation terms before production. The conversation log is your only protection. ## Deactivated listing https://everlysthq.com/glossary/deactivated-listing/ A listing you've hidden from buyers but kept in your shop - not visible in search and not buyable. A deactivated listing is one you've manually hidden from buyers. Etsy keeps the listing data, photos, variations, and even reviews intact - it's just not appearing in search and not purchasable. ## When to deactivate vs. when to delete - **Deactivate** when you might bring it back. The data is preserved; reactivation is one click + $0.20. - **Delete** when you're sure. Deleted listings cannot be recovered. ## Reactivation - Costs $0.20 (counts as a renewal). - Resets the listing's "active since" date for sorting and filtering, but does NOT reset accumulated views or sales count. - Loses any pending search rank momentum from before deactivation. ## What deactivation is good for - Seasonal products you'll re-launch next year. - Out-of-stock items you intend to restock but don't want to leave as "sold out" (which can hurt conversion-rate signals on related listings). - Audit and cleanup workflows where you're parking listings while you decide. ## What it isn't good for - A workaround for vacation mode. If you're stepping away from the whole shop, vacation mode is the right tool. Deactivating individual listings doesn't change shipping clocks on existing orders. Quick facts: - Buyer-visible: No - Costs money: No (no renewal fee while deactivated) - Reactivation cost: $0.20 (counts as a renewal) - Where it lives: Listings tab > Inactive filter - Search visibility lost: yes, you start over on the recency boost Tips: - Use bulk deactivation to hide an entire seasonal collection in one move at the end of the season. - Bulk-export your deactivated listings annually - the dataset of "what didn't work" is valuable for product planning. ## Description https://everlysthq.com/glossary/description/ The long-form text on a listing page - context for buyers and a secondary SEO signal. Descriptions are where buyers read after they've decided your photos and price are interesting. They're also a moderate SEO signal - Etsy reads them, just less heavily than the title. ## What goes above the fold The first ~160 characters render before any "Read more" link. That's the slot for: - A one-line product summary. - The single most important spec (size, material, customization options). - A reason to buy now (limited stock, ships in X days). ## What goes below Everything else: full specs, materials, dimensions, care instructions, shipping notes, FAQs, return policy reminders. Buyers who scroll are buyers who care, so don't pad it - answer the questions you actually get in messages. ## Formatting reality - **No Markdown, no HTML, no bold, no bullet characters that render.** What you type is what shows. - **Line breaks survive.** Use them generously. - **All-caps headings work** as visual anchors. (SHIPPING =========== reads as a heading.) - **Emoji render** but use sparingly. ## SEO weight Etsy indexes description text, but the title and tags carry far more weight. Don't try to rank a listing on description alone - it's there to convert, not to be discovered. Quick facts: - Character limit: no hard limit (recommended < 20,000) - First 160 characters: shown above the fold and used for meta description - Formatting: plain text only - no Markdown, no HTML - Line breaks: yes, single newlines render Common mistakes: - Writing the description as marketing copy. Buyers came to read specs, not your origin story. - Pasting from Word and inheriting weird quote characters that mangle Etsy's display. Tips: - Read the last 30 buyer messages to your shop. Every recurring question belongs in the description. - Reuse a "Shipping" and "Returns" block across all listings - bulk-edit lets you update them in one pass. ## Digital download https://everlysthq.com/glossary/digital-download/ A listing where the buyer purchases a file Etsy delivers automatically - no shipping required. A digital download listing is one where Etsy delivers the file automatically once the buyer pays. You upload up to 5 files (20 MB each), and Etsy emails the buyer a download link plus stores it in their account. ## What changes vs. a physical listing - **No shipping profile.** Etsy hides shipping fields entirely. - **No processing time** (delivery is instant). - **No returns or refunds.** Etsy's policy is that digital downloads are non-refundable, and disputes are usually decided in the seller's favor. - **No tracking number** to add. The "shipped" step is automatic at purchase. ## What stays the same - 6.5% transaction fee. - Payment processing fee (3% + $0.25 in the US). - Listing fee ($0.20). - Tags, title, attributes, photos. ## Why digital is harder than it looks - **High refund-request rate** even though refunds aren't required. Buyers regularly message asking for refunds because "it didn't print right." Templated reply ready. - **Piracy.** Etsy doesn't enforce copyright on resold downloads. Watermarking and store-side licensing language is your only real protection. - **Photo requirements are different.** Mockups carry the listing - flat preview shots don't sell. ## Personalized digital products Etsy's personalization field doesn't trigger a custom file delivery. If a buyer customizes a digital product, you have to manually upload the personalized file and send it via Etsy message. Many digital sellers use a third-party tool (Corjl, Templett) to deliver personalized files automatically. Quick facts: - File hosting: Etsy hosts the files (up to 5 files, 20 MB each) - Delivery: instant, immediately after purchase - Shipping profile: not required (Etsy hides shipping fields) - Returns: not allowed (digital deliveries are non-refundable per Etsy policy) - Personalization: not directly supported (use a separate workflow for custom files) Common mistakes: - Listing personalized digital products with auto-delivery - buyers receive the un-personalized template and complain. - Skipping mockup photos. Flat product photos sell physical items; digitals need lifestyle mockups. ## Dispute https://everlysthq.com/glossary/dispute/ A formal complaint a buyer opens through Etsy when they're unhappy with an order - escalates to a case if not resolved. A dispute is the first formal step a buyer takes when something's gone wrong with an order. Etsy nudges the buyer to open a "Help with order" thread that's tied to the order receipt and visible to both parties. ## What happens during a dispute - A conversation opens. You and the buyer can message back and forth, attach photos, and propose resolutions (refund, replacement, partial refund, return). - The order is flagged. If you have several open disputes, your shop quality metrics start to slip. - You have 7 days to resolve before the buyer can escalate to a **case**. ## How to handle one 1. **Respond fast.** Within 24 hours minimum. Slow responses look bad to Etsy and to the buyer. 2. **Acknowledge the problem** before defending. Even if the buyer's wrong, "I'm sorry that wasn't your experience" is the right opener. 3. **Propose a concrete fix.** Refund amount, replacement item, return + refund. Don't leave the next move to the buyer. 4. **Document.** If the issue is a damaged shipment, ask for photos. They become evidence if it goes to a case. ## What disputes look like in practice Most disputes resolve at this stage with a partial or full refund. The cost of resolving is almost always lower than the cost of letting it become a case (where Etsy may rule against you and dock your shop quality). ## Avoiding disputes upstream - Clear shipping ETAs. - Tracking on every shipment. - Photos that match what arrives. - A return policy that covers the obvious questions. Quick facts: - Triggered by: buyer, from the order detail page - Initial step: an open conversation between buyer and seller - Resolution window: 7 days before Etsy can step in - If unresolved: escalates to a case, where Etsy decides ## Draft listing https://everlysthq.com/glossary/draft-listing/ A listing in progress - not yet published, not buyer-visible, not charged the $0.20 listing fee. A draft listing is the "saving for later" state. You can build out the listing - photos, title, variations, attributes - and walk away without paying the $0.20 listing fee. The listing isn't searchable, buyable, or counted toward any quota. ## When drafts are useful - **Catalog planning.** Build 20 listings over a week, then publish them all on the same day for a coordinated launch. - **Photo waiting.** You have the copy but the photographer hasn't sent the final files. - **Seasonal staging.** Build holiday listings in October, publish them in November. - **CSV-based bulk creation.** Tools that build listings via the API typically create them as drafts first, then let you review before publishing. ## What's not so great about drafts in the native UI - No bulk edit on drafts. You build them one at a time. - No diff view. If you change a draft, the previous version is gone. - No preview that matches the final listing page exactly. ## What publish actually does - Charges $0.20 to your payment account. - Starts the 4-month renewal clock. - Makes the listing immediately searchable and buyable. - Triggers any connected Etsy Ads (if eligible). Quick facts: - Buyer-visible: No - Costs money: No until you publish - Listing fee charged: at the moment of publish ($0.20) - Auto-deletion: drafts are kept indefinitely in most regions - Where it lives: Listings tab > Draft filter Tips: - Build drafts in batches (e.g., 10 at a time) and publish on a consistent day of the week. Keeps your shop's "new arrivals" cadence predictable for repeat buyers. - CSV-based draft creation is the only sane path past ~5 listings at once. ## Etsy Ads https://everlysthq.com/glossary/etsy-ads/ Etsy's on-platform paid advertising - you set a daily budget and Etsy promotes your listings inside Etsy search. Etsy Ads is the **on-platform** paid placement program. You set a daily budget (minimum $1, no maximum), pick which listings are eligible (default: all active), and Etsy auctions them into search and category-page placements. ## How the auction works - Pure cost-per-click. You pay when a buyer clicks an ad - never on impressions or conversions. - CPC is dynamic. High-competition queries (e.g. "engagement ring") clear at $0.50–$2 per click; long-tail queries clear at $0.05–$0.20. - Budget pacing is automatic - Etsy spreads spend across the day; you can't bid manually per keyword. ## What it isn't - **Not Offsite Ads.** Offsite Ads is Etsy buying ads on Google/Facebook with your listings and taking a 12–15% cut on conversion. Etsy Ads is on-Etsy only and only charges per click. - **Not a discovery shortcut for bad listings.** Ads accelerate listings that already convert; they don't fix listings that don't. ## When it works - Your listing already has solid CTR in organic search but you want more impressions. - You're testing a new product and need data on what queries it converts on. - You have a seasonal push and need volume now. ## When it wastes money - Your listing has poor photos or a weak title - you'll pay for clicks that don't convert. - Your AOV is below ~$8 - CPC will eat the margin even at low click costs. Quick facts: - Minimum daily budget: $1.00 - Pricing model: cost-per-click, you pay only when buyers click - No additional commission on conversions (unlike Offsite Ads) - Where ads appear: Etsy search results, category pages, Etsy email surfaces - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Marketing > Etsy Ads Tips: - Start at $1/day for a week. Watch which listings get clicks. Pause the rest. - Don't advertise listings under $10 - the math rarely works. ## Etsy API https://everlysthq.com/glossary/etsy-api/ The official interface third-party tools use to read and write your Etsy shop data programmatically. The Etsy Open API v3 is what every legitimate third-party Etsy tool runs on top of. When Everlyst, an accounting integration, or a custom script makes changes to your shop, it's calling the Etsy API. ## What the API can do - **Listings**: read, create, edit, delete, publish, deactivate, renew. Most attributes and variations. - **Orders**: read receipts, update tracking, mark as shipped, issue refunds. - **Inventory**: per-variation stock and SKU updates. - **Shop**: read/update shop info, sections, policies. - **Taxonomy**: pull the current category and attribute set tree. ## What the API can't do - Some niche listing fields aren't exposed (specific photo metadata, some shipping profile internals). - Etsy Ads management is API-limited. - Direct buyer messaging via API is restricted (most apps avoid it for spam reasons). - Buyer-side actions (favoriting, cart manipulation) are not exposed. ## Rate limits - **10 requests/second per app per shop.** Tools batch and queue to stay under this. - **10,000 requests/day per app per shop.** Enough for normal usage; bulk tools hit it during large catalog syncs. ## Why these limits matter to you (the seller) - A bulk sync of a 1,000-listing shop can take 5+ minutes the first time as the tool walks pagination within rate limits. - Tools that hit limits queue and retry - they don't lose data, but operations take longer. - If you're using multiple authorized apps simultaneously, each gets its own quota; they don't compete. Quick facts: - Current version: Open API v3 - Authentication: OAuth 2.0 - Rate limit: 10 requests/sec, 10,000/day per app per shop - What it can do: read/write listings, orders, shop, inventory, taxonomy - What it can't do: things Etsy hasn't exposed - like editing certain shipping profile fields ## Etsy Plus https://everlysthq.com/glossary/etsy-plus/ Etsy's $10/month subscription that adds shop customization, restock notifications, and listing credits. Etsy Plus is the optional subscription tier most sellers don't need but a specific subset uses well. The $10/month gets you: - **15 listing credits** ($3 of value at $0.20 each) - **$5 in Etsy Ads credit** - **Restock request signups** - buyers can opt in to be notified when a sold-out listing comes back - **Custom shop URL** (yourshopname.etsy.com) - **Discounted custom domain** through Hover - **Banner templates** and other shop branding extras ## When the math works You break even on the listing credit + ad credit alone if you'd already be spending $8/month on those things. You profit from the restock feature only if you regularly sell out of repeatable products and want to recapture those buyers. ## When it doesn't - You make one-of-a-kind items that don't restock. - Your ad budget is $0. - You publish fewer than 15 new listings per month. ## How to evaluate it honestly Look at last quarter's listing fees + ad spend. If the sum is over $24/month, Etsy Plus is paying for itself. Below that, it's a $5/month overhead with mostly cosmetic extras. Quick facts: - Cost: $10/month - Includes: 15 listing credits and $5 in Etsy Ads credit each month - Includes: restock request signups for sold-out listings - Includes: custom shop URL and discounted custom domains - Best for: shops that already spend more than $5/mo on Etsy Ads Tips: - Cancel mid-cycle if you decide it isn't worth it - the credits don't expire on cancellation, but new ones stop accruing. ## Favoriter https://everlysthq.com/glossary/favoriter/ A buyer who has hearted one of your listings or your whole shop - they get notified when you run a sale on that item. A favoriter is anyone who's clicked the heart icon on one of your listings or your shop. Etsy doesn't show you who they are individually, just the aggregate count per listing and the total per shop. ## Why favorites matter - **Sale notification.** When you mark a listing on sale, Etsy emails everyone who's favorited it. This is your most direct (and free) marketing channel for past visitors who didn't convert. - **Conversion diagnostic.** A listing with high favorites and low sales has a buyer-intent problem at the bottom of the funnel - usually price, shipping cost, or "saving for later." - **Algorithm signal.** Etsy uses favorites as one input to listing quality scoring (small but real). ## How to use favorites - **Periodic sales** to pull favoriters off the fence. A 10–15% off "Spring sale" emails every favoriter and converts a measurable chunk. - **Inventory planning** - listings with high favorites but low sales are worth keeping (they have demand but pricing or trust friction); listings with low favorites and low sales aren't. ## What favorites don't do - Show you the buyer's email or contact info. There's no opt-in list. - Convert by themselves over time. A favorite without a follow-up nudge usually never converts. Quick facts: - Visible to seller: aggregate count, not individual identities - Notifications: favoriters get an email when the favorited item goes on sale - Conversion signal: high favorites with low orders often = price objection - Where to see: Stats > Listings > Favorites column Tips: - Run a small sale on your top-favorited listings every 4–6 weeks. The email blast is free and the recovery rate is real. ## Featured listing https://everlysthq.com/glossary/featured-listing/ An active Etsy listing a seller pins near the top of the public shop home page to give it extra prominence. A featured listing is an active listing placed in a prominent area of your public Etsy shop home page. In the standard layout, four featured listings appear in a row just above the shop announcement. If you select more, Etsy keeps the extras in a queue so another listing can move forward when one ahead of it is removed. Etsy Plus adds a mixed-grid layout with one large position and four smaller positions. Those five positions can contain listings or shop sections. This is a layout option for Etsy Plus, not a five-listing limit available in every shop. To feature an item, open **Shop Manager > Listings** and select the star icon on an active listing. To change the displayed order, use **Featured listings > Manage** in the Listing status sidebar, then drag the queued listings into the order you want. ## How to choose featured listings Treat the featured row like a small storefront display. Choose listings that make the shop easy to understand and support a current selling goal. Strong candidates include proven converters, seasonal products, higher-margin items, or a clear entry product for first-time buyers. The newest listing is not automatically the most useful one to feature. Featured listings still appear with the rest of your inventory and open the same listing pages. Featuring changes their presentation on Shop Home. Etsy does not document featured status as a factor in Etsy search ranking, so it should not be treated as an SEO tactic. ## How do I rearrange my Etsy listings? Featured listings are only one part of the answer. To control the broader listing grid, go to **Shop Manager > Settings > Your shop > Listing order > Edit**. Choose **Custom** to arrange listings with the Shop Home visual editor, or choose **Most recent** to sort by recency. In the visual editor, select **Rearrange items** and set the order you want. Buyers can still change their own view using the sorting control on your shop page. [Shop sections](/glossary/shop-section) solve a different problem. They group listings into buyer-facing categories, while listing order controls the sequence within the shop display and featured listings create a separate prominent area near the top. Quick facts: - Visible limit: 4 listings in the standard featured row; Etsy Plus mixed grid has 5 positions for listings or shop sections - Where to manage: Shop Manager > Listings > Featured listings > Manage - Buyer view: displayed on the public shop home page just above the shop announcement - Search impact: Etsy does not document featured status as a search ranking factor Common mistakes: - Featuring the newest listings by default instead of the products that best support the shop's current sales goals. - Expecting featured status to improve placement in Etsy search. It controls Shop Home presentation, not documented search ranking. ## GTIN https://everlysthq.com/glossary/gtin/ A standardized product barcode (UPC, EAN, ISBN) that helps Etsy and external search engines identify your item. A GTIN is the barcode number printed on most retail products. If you resell branded goods or print books with an ISBN, you almost certainly already have one. If you make handmade originals, you don't have one and that's fine - Etsy doesn't require it. GTINs matter for two reasons: 1. **Etsy's internal search** uses the GTIN as a strong signal that your listing matches a known product, especially for craft supplies and resale categories. 2. **Google Shopping** and other external surfaces (where Etsy syndicates your listings via Offsite Ads) match results to product feeds by GTIN. Listings without one rank below listings with one for the same query. ## Which format you have - **UPC** (12 digits) is what's printed on most North American retail packaging. - **EAN** (13 digits) is the European equivalent. - **ISBN** (10 or 13 digits) is for books. - **GTIN-14** is mostly used at the case/pallet level - rare for individual Etsy listings. You don't pick the format. Whichever number is on your packaging is the one Etsy wants. Type it in plain digits, no hyphens. ## When to leave it blank Handmade originals, custom orders, and one-of-a-kind pieces have no GTIN. Don't make one up - Etsy will eventually catch a fabricated GTIN and the listing's search visibility will drop, not improve. Quick facts: - Stands for: Global Trade Item Number - Formats accepted: 8, 12, 13, or 14 digits - Common types: UPC (12), EAN (13), ISBN (10/13) - Where it lives: Listing edit page > Inventory & pricing - Required by Etsy: No (but recommended for search visibility) Common mistakes: - Inventing a GTIN to "fill in the field." Etsy and Google validate against issuer registries - fakes get penalized. - Typing the number with dashes or spaces. Plain digits only. - Confusing GTIN with SKU - SKU is yours; GTIN is the manufacturer's. ## In stock https://everlysthq.com/glossary/in-stock/ A listing's inventory state when at least one purchasable unit is available. "In stock" just means the listing has positive available quantity. The interesting part is how Etsy tracks it across variations and what happens when stock hits zero. ## How quantity works - A **single-variation listing** has one quantity number. Sells go down 1 each. - A **multi-variation listing** has a quantity per combination. "Blue, 11oz" can sell out while "Cream, 11oz" stays in stock. - When all combinations hit zero, the listing flips to "sold out." ## Multi-quantity fee This catches sellers off guard. Setting a listing to quantity 50 doesn't charge you 50 × $0.20 upfront. Instead, the **first sale uses the original $0.20**; each subsequent sale from the same listing charges another $0.20 on top of the 6.5% transaction fee. So a 50-unit listing that sells out has paid $10 in listing/renewal-style fees plus 50 × 6.5% transaction fees. ## Auto-deactivate option On the listing edit page you can choose what Etsy does when stock hits zero: - **Renew automatically** (default): the listing tries to renew, but if you forgot to add stock, it just goes sold-out. - **Deactivate**: hides the listing from buyers when stock runs out. ## Why this matters at scale Inventory tracking inside Etsy is fine for 20 listings. Past that, sellers either sync with their accounting tool or run regular CSV exports to reconcile what Etsy thinks is in stock vs. what's actually on the shelf. Quick facts: - Where it lives: Listing edit page > Inventory & pricing - Per-variation stock: yes, when variations are enabled - Auto-deactivate when stock hits 0: optional setting - Multi-quantity: each unit sold beyond the first costs $0.20 listing fee Common mistakes: - Setting quantity to 999 to "never run out" - every unit sold past the first costs another $0.20 listing fee. - Forgetting that variations have per-combination stock, not a single shared pool. ## Listing https://everlysthq.com/glossary/listing/ A single item-for-sale record on Etsy - the fundamental unit of your shop catalog. A listing is one product page on Etsy. It has a title, a description, photos, a price, optional variations, optional inventory, and a state (active, inactive, draft, sold out, or expired). Buyers find listings through Etsy search; sellers manage them from Shop Manager. ## What costs $0.20 The listing fee is charged in two scenarios: - When you **publish** a brand-new listing. - When an active listing **auto-renews** (every 4 months, or the moment a multi-quantity unit sells). Edits don't cost anything. Photos, variations, and inventory updates are free. ## Multi-quantity vs. single-quantity - A **single-quantity** listing sells one unit, then moves to "sold out." You decide whether to renew it. - A **multi-quantity** listing has stock greater than 1. Each sale costs an additional $0.20 listing fee on top of the transaction fee. ## Why your listing count matters - Etsy's free tier is unlimited, but each $0.20 adds up fast at 500+ active listings. - Star Seller, Etsy Ads, and search visibility all weight the listing as the unit. If you're managing a catalog over a few dozen listings, doing it inside Etsy's UI is the bottleneck - every change is a click, a save, and a page reload. Quick facts: - Cost to publish: $0.20 - Cost to renew: $0.20 every 4 months (auto unless turned off) - States: draft, active, inactive, sold out, expired - Photos: up to 20 per listing - Variations: up to 2 types per listing Tips: - Turn off auto-renew for low-performing listings rather than letting them silently bill every 4 months. - Use "draft" listings as your staging environment - build, review, then publish in batches. ## Listing quality score https://everlysthq.com/glossary/listing-quality-score/ Etsy's internal score for how well a listing converts and engages buyers - a major search ranking input. Etsy doesn't publish your listing quality score, but it confirms it exists and uses it to rank search results. Roughly, it's a composite of: - **Conversion rate** (sales ÷ visits) - the heaviest factor. - **Click-through rate** from search results (people seeing your listing in search and clicking). - **Engagement** - favorites, cart-adds, time spent on the listing. - **Recency** - newly published or recently sold listings get a small temporary boost. - **Completeness** - every attribute, photo slot, and variation field filled. ## What you actually do about it You can't see the score, so you optimize the inputs: 1. **Listings need to convert.** Fix title and photos before chasing more impressions. 2. **Listings need to keep selling.** A long sales gap drops the score; the temporary boost from a fresh sale is real. 3. **Listings need to be complete.** Empty attributes, missing alt text, fewer than 5 photos - every gap is a small drag. ## The "new listing boost" myth Etsy gives newly-published listings a brief impression bump so their conversion can be measured. It's not a re-listing trick. Deactivating and republishing the same listing doesn't reset the boost - Etsy sees the underlying listing ID. ## Why bulk completeness audits matter A shop with 300 listings where 40% have empty attribute sets is dragging its average quality score across the entire shop. Mass-filling those gaps is one of the highest-leverage SEO moves you can make. Quick facts: - Visible to seller: No (Etsy does not expose the number) - Inferred from: conversion rate, click-through rate, recency, completeness - Affects: organic search rank, ad efficiency - Improves with: every sale, every favorite, every cart-add Common mistakes: - Re-publishing listings to "reset the boost." Etsy tracks the underlying listing. - Ignoring half-empty attribute fields because the listing already sells. ## Made to order https://everlysthq.com/glossary/made-to-order/ A listing for items produced after the buyer purchases - not held in physical inventory. Made-to-order is an inventory pattern, not an Etsy feature. The listing looks identical to a stock listing - there's no checkbox that flips it on. You communicate "made to order" through your **processing time**, your **description**, and your **personalization options**. ## What signals "made to order" to a buyer - A processing time of 5+ business days. - A clear sentence in the description (e.g., "Each piece is made to order in our studio. Allow 7–10 business days for production before shipping."). - A personalization field that requires custom input (name, monogram, dimensions). ## Why it matters operationally - **Refund expectations are different.** Once production starts, "I changed my mind" cancellations cost you actual labor. Be clear in the description about your cancellation policy. - **Shipping profiles need extra padding.** The processing time you advertise becomes the Star Seller threshold for "shipped on time." Underestimate by 2 days and you'll miss the metric. - **Inventory in Etsy stays at a high number** because you're not depleting stock. Set quantity to whatever capacity number is reasonable for the production cadence. ## Made-to-order vs. custom order A made-to-order listing has fixed options the buyer picks (size, color, name). A **custom order** is a fully bespoke negotiation in messages - different workflow, often a private listing. Quick facts: - Inventory model: produce on demand - Processing time: usually longer (5–21 days typical) - Personalization: often combined with made-to-order workflows - Cancellation expectation: lower (work has started) Tips: - Pad processing time by 2 days vs. your actual capacity. Late shipments tank Star Seller faster than slow defaults do. - Re-state the production timeline in the personalization help text - buyers skip the description. ## Message to buyer https://everlysthq.com/glossary/message-to-buyer/ An auto-sent or manual message buyers receive after purchase - Etsy supports both digital and physical templates. The message to buyer is the templated note Etsy sends every buyer after they place an order. There are two slots: - **Physical orders** - sent at order placement. - **Digital downloads** - sent at order placement, accompanies the file delivery email. ## What works in this template - **Acknowledgment.** "Thanks for ordering - your piece is in queue and will ship by [date you can pull from processing time]." - **Expectation setting.** Restate processing time so the buyer doesn't message you on day 2. - **Soft brand voice.** A short, warm, real-sounding sentence beats a corporate template. - **One ask if appropriate.** "If anything looks off when it arrives, message me first - I'll fix it." This dramatically reduces 1-star "didn't reach out first" reviews. ## What doesn't - A 500-word marketing pitch. Buyers skim. - Coupon codes for repeat purchase. Etsy treats this as off-platform redirection if you also include external links; safer to send the coupon as a manual follow-up. - Asking for a 5-star review at this stage. Wait until after delivery. ## Limits - One template per shop, not per listing. If different product lines need different copy, use manual messages where appropriate. - No personalization tokens (you can't auto-insert the buyer's first name or item title). ## Post-delivery follow-up Etsy doesn't have a native post-delivery message template. If you contact a buyer after delivery, send the message manually and keep it relevant to the order. Quick facts: - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Settings > Info & Appearance > Message to buyers - Per-listing override: not supported (shop-wide template only) - Digital download template: separate field from physical orders - Buyer-visible: yes, in their order email and order page - Length: practical max ~1,000 characters Tips: - Re-write the default Etsy template. The placeholder reads as boilerplate to buyers. ## OAuth https://everlysthq.com/glossary/oauth/ The standard way third-party apps connect to your Etsy shop without asking for your password. OAuth is the protocol your shop uses to grant permission to third-party tools (Everlyst, accounting software, inventory tools) without ever sharing your Etsy password. You sign in with Etsy directly; Etsy gives the app a scoped token; the app uses that token to act on your behalf. ## Why this is the right way - **No password sharing.** Apps that ask for your Etsy login directly are a security nightmare and against Etsy TOS. - **Granular scopes.** When you authorize an app, Etsy lists exactly what it can do - read your listings, write your listings, read your orders, manage your shop. You can refuse if a scope feels excessive. - **Revocable.** You can revoke any app's access from your Etsy account settings. The app stops working immediately. ## Common scopes you'll see - **listings_r** - read your listings - **listings_w** - create and edit your listings - **transactions_r** - read your orders - **shops_r**, **shops_w** - shop-level read/write ## What to check before authorizing - Is the app listed in Etsy's official directory? Apps not in the directory aren't blocked, but the directory is a vetting layer. - Do the requested scopes match what the app actually does? An "analytics-only" app shouldn't need write access. - Is the app's privacy policy clear about data retention and resale? Especially important for tools that pull buyer info. ## Revoking access Etsy account > Settings > Apps. One click. The app's access ends immediately, but data the app already pulled (analytics history, exports) usually persists in their system. Quick facts: - Etsy version: OAuth 2.0 - Flow: authorization code - Scopes: granular (you grant only the permissions an app needs) - Token expiry: access tokens expire; apps refresh automatically - Where to manage: Etsy account > Account settings > Apps Tips: - Audit your authorized apps annually. Tools you tried once still have shop access until you revoke. ## Offsite Ads fee https://everlysthq.com/glossary/offsite-ads-fee/ The 12–15% commission Etsy charges when a buyer arrives via an external Etsy-funded ad and converts. Offsite Ads is Etsy's program where **Etsy** buys ads on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and elsewhere using your listings. When a buyer clicks one of those ads and converts (within 30 days), Etsy takes a commission: **15% if you've earned under $10K in the last 365 days**, **12% if you've earned over $10K** - and at the $10K threshold, you're enrolled mandatorily and cannot opt out. ## What you pay vs. what you don't - You **only** pay if the buyer's order is attributed to an Offsite Ads click. No click, no fee. - The fee is in addition to the 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing fee, and any per-order regulatory fee. - It's capped at **12% of the order total** or $100, whichever is lower. ## Why this fee surprises high-volume sellers The $10K threshold is rolling. A successful holiday season can push you past it permanently, and the next year you're locked into the 12% rate forever. Combined with 6.5% transaction + ~3.25% processing, an Offsite Ads-attributed order can lose **22%+** to Etsy before profit. ## How to think about it You can't control which orders Etsy attributes - Etsy decides. The realistic move is to factor an "expected fee load" into your prices that assumes a percentage of orders will attribute. Sellers under $10K can opt out from Shop Manager > Settings > Offsite Ads. Quick facts: - Rate (sellers under $10K/yr): 15%, optional to opt out - Rate (sellers over $10K/yr): 12%, mandatory enrollment - Charged: only when the buyer converts within 30 days of clicking the ad - Capped at: 12% of order total ($100 max per order) - Not the same as: Etsy Ads (on-platform, you control the budget) Common mistakes: - Confusing Offsite Ads (Etsy-run) with Etsy Ads (you-run). They are entirely different programs. - Pricing as if every order pays only 6.5% - Offsite-attributed orders pay 18.5% to Etsy plus processing. ## Order receipt https://everlysthq.com/glossary/order-receipt/ The record Etsy generates for each completed purchase - visible to both buyer and seller. Every completed checkout produces an order receipt - Etsy's name for the order record. It contains everything you need to fulfill: line items, variations, personalization input, buyer name and shipping address, and Etsy's fee breakdown. ## What you can do from the receipt - Add tracking information when you ship. - Mark the order as shipped (or let tracking entry mark it automatically). - Issue a refund (full or partial). - Send the buyer a message tied to the order. - Print the packing slip and shipping label. ## What you can't do - Edit the buyer's address. The buyer must update it themselves before you ship; after that, the address Etsy shows is the address Etsy guarantees. - Add or remove items from an existing order. You'd refund and have the buyer re-order. - Change the price after checkout. You can refund the difference; you can't edit the line. ## Bulk receipt management Etsy's Orders page lets you mark multiple orders as shipped, but the per-order workflow (add tracking, update note, send message) is one-at-a-time. Higher-volume sellers (50+ orders/week) typically pull receipts via the Etsy API or CSV export to drive packing-slip printing and tracking-upload workflows in bulk. Quick facts: - Receipt ID: Etsy's internal order identifier - Where the seller sees it: Shop Manager > Orders & Shipping - What the buyer sees: order email + the order in their Etsy account - Includes: line items, personalization input, shipping address, fees - Editable by seller: limited (can update tracking, mark shipped, refund) Tips: - Always read the personalization field before you start production. Skipping this is the #1 source of remake requests. ## Payment processing fee https://everlysthq.com/glossary/payment-processing-fee/ The per-order fee Etsy Payments charges to handle credit card and bank transactions. Payment processing is what Etsy charges for handling the actual money - the credit card swipe, the bank transfer, the fraud screening. In the US it's **3% + $0.25 per order**. In other Etsy seller countries it varies; a UK seller pays roughly 4% + £0.20, a Canadian seller pays 3% + CA$0.25. This is separate from the 6.5% transaction fee. The transaction fee is what Etsy charges to be the marketplace; the payment processing fee is what Etsy Payments charges to be the payment processor. Both come out automatically from your sale. ## What the fee is calculated on The **order total** including item price, shipping, tax, and any tip. Yes, you pay processing on the sales tax that you don't keep - that's because the processor still has to move that money from card to bank. ## Why small orders hurt margin The flat $0.25 component is brutal on low-priced items. A $3 sticker becomes: - Transaction fee: $0.20 - Processing fee: $0.34 - Listing fee: $0.20 - **Etsy's take: $0.74 on a $3 sale - about 25%**, before ad fees. Bundling small items, or pricing them with a minimum quantity, is how most sellers protect margin in low-AOV categories. Quick facts: - US rate: 3% + $0.25 per order - Varies by country: each Etsy seller country has its own % + flat fee - Charged on: order total (item + shipping + tax + tip) - In addition to: 6.5% transaction fee and any ad fees Common mistakes: - Listing single low-cost items where the flat $0.25 swallows your margin. - Forgetting that processing applies to refunds too - refunding an order returns the item price but not Etsy's processing fee. ## Personalization https://everlysthq.com/glossary/personalization/ Buyer-input questions on a listing for custom text, choices, or files needed to personalize an item. Personalization collects details a seller needs to customize an item: names, dates, lettering choices, or a buyer's own image. Etsy calls these fields Custom options. They are distinct from variations that track stock, SKU, or the base product configuration. ## Available questions Etsy supports up to five fields per listing. Text fields collect unique answers, dropdowns provide defined choices, and a file upload field collects buyer files. Required and optional settings apply to each field. An eligible optional text field can also have an add-on price; that pricing does not apply to required text, dropdowns, or uploads. Use clear prompts and match any option names to the listing images. A file question collects material for your production process; it does not automatically personalize or fulfill a digital product. ## Editing in Everlyst Make Listing and Advanced Edit support the full question editor. Bulk Edit replaces the complete question set on eligible listings and skips existing priced personalization to protect listing-specific prices. Spreadsheet paths have narrower support. Broader support across the remaining workflows is coming soon. See [Etsy's current personalization guidance](https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000344528-How-to-Offer-Personalized-Listings) and [Everlyst's editing overview](/features/advanced-edit) for the available controls. Quick facts: - Up to five fields, including text, option lists, and a file upload field - Text fields can have a configured character limit from 1 to 1024 - Required vs. optional: configurable per listing - Visible in: order details, downloaded receipts, and the order CSV Common mistakes: - Marking personalization optional on a product that requires it. Buyer skips, you have to chase. - Trusting personalization input on digital downloads to auto-deliver custom files. It doesn't. ## Photo dimensions https://everlysthq.com/glossary/photo-dimensions/ The recommended size and aspect ratio for Etsy listing photos. Etsy displays photos at large sizes on desktop and high-DPI on mobile. Underspecified photos look blurry or get cropped strangely; oversized photos waste your upload bandwidth and slow page loads. ## Recommended specs - **2000 px on the shortest side.** This handles every Etsy display size including the zoom feature. - **4:3 aspect ratio.** This matches Etsy's carousel display. Square or portrait photos get cropped or letterboxed. - **Under 20 MB.** Keep JPEGs closer to 1-3 MB when you can; the visual difference vs. a 10 MB file is usually invisible. - **JPG or PNG recommended.** Etsy supports more file types, but JPG and PNG are the safest formats for most shops. ## Photo slots - fill them all You get 20 slots. Fill as many as you can with photos that answer a buyer's real question. The composition that matters: 1. **Hero** - clean, well-lit, on white or simple background. This is the search-result thumbnail. 2. **Lifestyle** - product in use or in context. 3. **Scale** - product next to a known object or human. 4. **Detail** - close-up of texture, stitching, finish. 5. **Variations** - show each color/size if applicable. 6–20. Backstory, packaging, materials, alternate angles, variations, process, and size-reference shots. ## Why dimensions matter for SEO Etsy weights listing completeness in quality scoring. A listing with 2 photos is treated as less complete than one with a full, useful carousel - even if the 2 photos are excellent. Quick facts: - Recommended size: 2000 px on the shortest side - Maximum file size: 20 MB per photo - Best aspect ratio: 4:3 (matches the carousel display) - Photos per listing: up to 20 - Format: JPG or PNG recommended Common mistakes: - Using 800 px-wide product photos. They look pixelated on retina displays. - Filling only 4 photo slots and leaving most of the carousel empty. Easy completeness win to fix. ## Physical product https://everlysthq.com/glossary/physical-product/ A listing for a tangible item that requires shipping to the buyer. Most Etsy listings are physical products - handmade, vintage, or supply items that ship to the buyer. The mechanics differ from digital listings primarily in the shipping, processing, and returns workflow. ## Required vs. optional fields - **Required:** shipping profile (origin, destination zones, handling time, ship cost). - **Required:** category and at least one photo. - **Optional but heavily weighted:** attributes, full 13 tags, materials list, all 20 photo slots, video. ## Processing time The number of business days between order receipt and shipment. This is what Etsy uses to tell buyers their estimated delivery date and what determines whether your shipment counts as "on time" for Star Seller. ## Tracking Always add tracking once you ship. Untracked shipments don't count toward Star Seller's on-time-shipping metric, and Etsy purchase protection often defaults in the buyer's favor when tracking is missing. ## International shipping Off by default. To ship internationally, add destination zones to the shipping profile. Be aware of: - Customs forms (Etsy auto-generates them for many lanes). - Country-specific restrictions (e.g., wood, food, leather often blocked). - DDP vs. DDU duties (Etsy now collects duties at checkout for many lanes, so the buyer doesn't get a surprise bill). Quick facts: - Requires: shipping profile and processing time - Refund-eligible: yes (per shop policy and Etsy purchase protection) - Tracking: required for Star Seller credit - International shipping: opt-in per shipping profile Tips: - Build one shipping profile per weight bracket, not one per listing. Easier to maintain across the catalog. - Add tracking even on cheap orders. The Star Seller hit from one untracked package is bigger than the postage savings. ## Processing time https://everlysthq.com/glossary/processing-time/ The number of business days between order receipt and shipment, set on each shipping profile. Processing time is how long you tell Etsy and the buyer it'll take you to get the package out the door after they order. It's a count of business days, set on each shipping profile. ## Why this number matters more than it looks - **Star Seller "shipped on time"** is calculated against this number. Set it too tight and a busy week tanks the metric. - **Etsy's estimated delivery date** combines processing time + shipping carrier transit time. Buyers see a delivery window before checkout. Conservative processing widens the window; aggressive processing narrows it (and risks lateness). - **Buyer expectations**. A buyer who sees "ships in 1 business day" expects 1 day. Three days later they're messaging. ## A workable rule Set processing time to your **realistic** capacity, then add **2 business days** of buffer. If you can usually ship in 2 days, advertise 4. The conversion penalty from a slightly longer window is far smaller than the Star Seller and review penalty from late shipments. ## Made-to-order and seasonal spikes - Made-to-order items: 7–14 business days is normal. - Seasonal spike (Q4, Mother's Day): bump processing time up two weeks before peak so you're not promising 1-day turnarounds during a flood. ## Vacation If you're stepping away, use **vacation mode**, not "increase processing time to 30 days." Vacation mode pauses orders entirely. Stretching processing time leaves your shop buyable but lets impatient buyers convert and then complain. Quick facts: - Where it lives: shipping profile settings - Range: 1 business day to several weeks - Used by Etsy: to calculate the buyer's estimated delivery date - Used by Star Seller: as the deadline for "shipped on time" - Buyer-visible: yes, displayed on the listing page Tips: - Bump processing time before peak season, not during. By the time you're drowning in orders, the new number doesn't apply to existing orders. ## Production partner https://everlysthq.com/glossary/production-partner/ A third party who helps make your products - Etsy requires you to disclose them in your shop settings. If anyone other than you helps make your products, Etsy requires you to declare them as a production partner. The declaration goes in shop settings and shows up on your shop "About" page so buyers know who's involved in production. ## What counts as a production partner - A print-on-demand vendor (Printful, Printify, Gooten). - A laser-cut shop you send files to. - A kiln operator who fires your ceramics. - A factory that produces your design at scale. - A graphic designer is **not** a production partner. Tools and services that don't physically produce the item don't count. ## Why this exists Etsy is a handmade/vintage/supply marketplace. The production partner disclosure is part of how Etsy maintains transparency about how items are actually made - without forcing every shop to be a one-person operation. ## Consequences of skipping the disclosure - Shop deactivation if Etsy discovers undisclosed production partners (especially via buyer complaint or trademark report). - Loss of buyer trust if it becomes obvious you didn't make the item alone. ## What to write - The partner's role ("They print my designs onto t-shirts"). - Where they're located (city, country). - What you do vs. what they do. This is a one-time setup unless you change partners. Quick facts: - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Settings > Production partners - Required: yes, if any third party is involved in making the items - Buyer-visible: yes, listed in the "About" section of your shop - Examples: print-on-demand provider, custom manufacturer, kiln operator Common mistakes: - Skipping the disclosure for print-on-demand. Etsy increasingly enforces this and shops have been deactivated. ## Recently active listings https://everlysthq.com/glossary/recently-active-listings/ Listings that have been published, edited, or renewed recently - Etsy gives them a small temporary search boost. Etsy gives newly-published or recently-renewed listings a small bump in search visibility. The idea is to give the algorithm fresh data on conversion before deciding where the listing belongs long-term. ## What counts as "recent" - A brand-new listing's first hours. - A renewal (whether auto-renewed or manually clicked). - A substantial edit - title rewrite, new photos, price change. Etsy is opaque about exactly what counts as "substantial." ## What doesn't count - Fixing a typo in the description. - Updating a single tag. - Toggling a variation's stock. ## The strategy people get wrong A common myth says manually renewing your top sellers daily keeps them at the top of search. It doesn't - Etsy throttles the boost so you can't game it, and you'll spend $0.20 per renewal for nothing. The boost exists to seed conversion data on listings Etsy doesn't yet have a quality score for, not to be a paid placement workaround. ## When the boost actually helps - Launching a new listing into a peak season (e.g., Halloween décor in early September). - Re-publishing a listing that you've genuinely overhauled - new photos, new title, new variations. For everything else, focus on conversion and completeness instead. Quick facts: - Boost duration: a few hours to a day, then fades - Triggered by: publish, renew, or substantial edit - Not triggered by: minor edits like fixing a typo - Magnitude: small, measurable, not transformational Common mistakes: - Manually renewing top sellers daily, paying $0.20 each time, expecting permanent top placement. ## Refund https://everlysthq.com/glossary/refund/ Returning all or part of a buyer's payment - Etsy returns the transaction fee but not the payment processing fee. Refunds are seller-initiated from the order detail page. You can refund the full order or any partial amount. Etsy returns the 6.5% transaction fee on the refunded portion to your account, but the payment processing fee (the $0.25 + 3% Etsy paid to the card processor) is not refunded. ## What gets refunded automatically - The amount you specify, charged back to the buyer's original payment method. - The 6.5% transaction fee on that amount, returned to your shop payment account. ## What doesn't - The payment processing fee. You're out the $0.25 + 3% on the refunded amount, even on a full refund. - Outbound shipping cost (if you've already shipped). The buyer might or might not return the item; that's a return-shipping conversation. - Etsy Ads spend. Any ad cost on the order is gone. ## When to refund vs. when to push back - **Damage in transit, missing item, item not as described** → refund quickly. These are buyer-protection cases Etsy will side with the buyer on if it escalates. Save the dispute hassle. - **Buyer's remorse on a non-personalized item** → policy decision. Many shops accept; some don't. State your stance in the return policy. - **Personalized items that arrived as ordered** → typically not refundable. State this in the description and policy. ## Partial refunds as a tool Offering a 20–30% partial refund instead of a full refund + return is often cheaper for both sides on lightly-imperfect orders. The buyer keeps the item, you keep most of the sale, and the dispute stops. Quick facts: - Initiated by: seller, from the order detail page - Full vs. partial: both supported - Refunded fee: 6.5% transaction fee returned to your account - Not refunded: payment processing fee ($0.25 + 3% in US) - Dispute escalation: if buyer disagrees, they can open a case Common mistakes: - Refunding via PayPal or Venmo on the side. Etsy considers off-platform refunds a TOS violation; the on-Etsy refund is the only protected path. ## Registered buyer https://everlysthq.com/glossary/registered-buyer/ Seller shorthand for a buyer who has an Etsy account and shops while signed in, rather than using guest checkout. A registered buyer is seller shorthand for someone who has an Etsy account and is signed in. Etsy does not describe this as a formal buyer status. Its own help pages distinguish between buyers using an account and people who continue through guest checkout. For a seller, both kinds of completed orders appear in Shop Manager and require the same fulfillment care. The difference is the account context attached to the buyer. A signed-in buyer can have a profile, save favorites, and keep purchases connected to one account. A guest can still place an order, receive an emailed receipt, and communicate about that purchase. ## Why the distinction matters Account-linked activity gives Etsy a persistent identity for actions such as favoriting an item. It can also give the seller more context when recognizing a returning buyer. A guest order may not show the same profile or account history when the seller first handles it. The distinction also matters around [abandoned-cart offers](/glossary/abandoned-cart). Etsy sends targeted offers only to eligible shoppers who accept marketing emails, so sellers should not expect every cart to be identifiable or reachable. Having an Etsy account does not guarantee that an offer will be delivered. Guest buyers also have different after-purchase options. They can track an order through email and reply to their receipt to contact the seller. To leave a review or ask Etsy to step in on an order problem, they must connect the guest order to an Etsy account. ## Where sellers encounter it The practical distinction appears while managing orders and messages. Sellers may see an account identity and related profile context for a signed-in buyer, while a guest order has less account-linked history. Use the order number when discussing fulfillment or support, since it remains the clearest reference even if the buyer later connects the purchase to an account. Quick facts: - Terminology: seller shorthand, not an official Etsy buyer status - Main distinction: signed-in Etsy account versus guest checkout - Seller view: guest and signed-in orders both appear in Shop Manager - Account-linked activity: favorites, buyer profiles, and purchase history Tips: - Use the order number as the durable reference when helping any buyer, especially when a guest order may later be connected to an account. - Treat guest orders as normal orders. The checkout method changes account-linked context, not the seller's fulfillment responsibilities. ## Regulatory operating fee https://everlysthq.com/glossary/regulatory-fee/ A small per-order percentage Etsy charges in specific seller countries to cover digital service regulations. The regulatory operating fee is Etsy's pass-through of country-level digital services taxes. If your shop is registered in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, India, or one of a handful of other countries, Etsy adds a small percentage to every order to cover the DST that government charges Etsy. ## How it shows up - Itemized as a separate line in your order CSV and in the shop payment account ledger. - Calculated on the order total (item + shipping), not on Etsy's revenue. - Charged in your shop's listing currency. ## Country examples (approximate, last verified mid-2026) - UK: 0.25% - France: 0.4% - Italy / Spain / Turkey: 1.1% - US, Canada, Germany, Australia: 0% (no fee - those countries don't have a DST that applies to Etsy) ## Why it matters for margin math On its own it's small. Stacked on top of 6.5% transaction + ~3% processing + a possible 12–15% Offsite Ads fee, it's another half-percent that can decide whether a thin-margin product is worth listing. UK and EU sellers should bake it into pricing rather than absorb it on each order. Quick facts: - Range: 0.25%–1.1% depending on seller country - UK rate: 0.25% - France rate: 0.4% - Charged on: order total (item + shipping) - Why: Etsy passes through digital services taxes (DST) imposed by some governments Common mistakes: - Treating it as a billing error and contacting support - it's legitimate and country-specific. - Forgetting it when reconciling profit. Always sum the regulatory column when calculating true Etsy fee load. ## Renewal fee https://everlysthq.com/glossary/renewal-fee/ The $0.20 Etsy charges every 4 months to keep a listing active, or whenever a multi-quantity unit sells. Every Etsy listing expires after **four months**. The renewal fee is the $0.20 Etsy charges to put it back on the clock for another four months. By default, every listing has auto-renew **on** - so this happens silently in the background, and most sellers don't notice until they look at their bill. ## When renewal triggers - **Calendar:** four months after the last publish or renewal date. - **Sale of a multi-quantity unit:** every additional unit sold from the same listing also triggers a $0.20 renewal-style fee, on top of the 6.5% transaction fee. (A single-quantity listing that sells goes to "sold out," not renewed.) - **Manual renew:** clicking "Renew" anywhere in the dashboard. ## Why this fee surprises sellers A 500-listing shop renews about 125 listings per month at $0.20 each. That's $25/mo just to keep the catalog visible - separate from per-sale fees. If 40% of those listings haven't sold in a year, you're paying $10/mo to keep dead inventory active. ## How to control it - **Turn off auto-renew on dead-weight listings.** They expire harmlessly; you can re-publish later for the same $0.20. - **Audit annually.** Sort by "views" or "favorites" ascending and decide what's earning its $0.20. - **Use bulk tools.** Etsy doesn't let you toggle auto-renew in bulk natively - you'll need a CSV-aware tool to do it without 200 individual page loads. Quick facts: - Amount: $0.20 USD per renewal - Frequency: every 4 months for active listings - Auto-renew: on by default for every new listing - Multi-quantity trigger: each unit sold beyond the first triggers a $0.20 listing fee on top - Manual renew: free to turn off; listing then expires after 4 months Common mistakes: - Assuming renewal is per-sale. It's a calendar fee, separate from transaction fees. - Letting every listing auto-renew without auditing for years. - Manually renewing right after listing - duplicates the $0.20 charge. ## Repeat customer https://everlysthq.com/glossary/repeat-customer/ A buyer who has placed more than one order with your shop - Etsy tracks them and surfaces them in your stats. A repeat customer is a buyer who's purchased from your shop more than once. Etsy flags them on the order detail page and aggregates the count in Shop Manager > Stats > Customers. They're the most underrated metric in most shops. ## Why they're undervalued - New buyers come at high acquisition cost - Etsy Ads, Offsite Ads attribution fees, slow organic ranking work. - Repeat buyers cost almost nothing. They typed your URL or favorited a previous purchase. - Repeat buyers convert at 2–4× the rate of first-time visitors. - Repeat buyers leave 5-star reviews more often (they already trust you). ## What grows the repeat rate - **Consistent product quality.** Variance kills the repeat buyer relationship faster than anything. - **Packaging that signals care.** A short handwritten note converts a first-time buyer into a repeat with measurable lift. - **Post-purchase messages.** A polite follow-up a week after delivery reminds the buyer to come back when they need a related product. - **A coherent shop assortment.** A buyer who liked your candle is more likely to buy your matches than your unrelated jewelry line. ## What to track - Total repeat customers over rolling 90 days. - Percent of orders from repeat buyers. - Average order value: repeat vs. first-time. The shops that scale on Etsy are usually the ones whose repeat-buyer percentage trends up year over year. Quick facts: - Where to see: Shop Manager > Stats > Customers - Marker: a "Repeat customer" tag on the order detail page - Etsy uses it: in shop quality scoring and personalization for buyers - Acquisition cost: roughly zero compared to first-time buyer acquisition Tips: - Recognize repeat buyers in your message-to-buyer template. "Welcome back!" is a tiny touch that compounds. ## Return policy https://everlysthq.com/glossary/return-policy/ Your shop's rules about returns, exchanges, and cancellations - Etsy uses it to decide buyer disputes. Your return policy tells buyers - and Etsy - what happens when something goes wrong. It's required (you can't publish without one) and it's referenced any time a buyer opens a case against you. ## What goes in a useful policy - **Whether you accept returns at all.** Many shops don't (handmade, custom, perishable). Saying so up-front prevents disputes. - **Window** (e.g., 14 days from delivery). - **Who pays return shipping.** Almost always the buyer, except in defect/damage cases. - **Exchanges** - accepted or not, and on what terms. - **Custom and personalized items** are typically excluded from returns. Etsy supports this; just state it clearly. - **Cancellation** - through what point can a buyer cancel? Before shipment is the standard answer. ## What Etsy enforces vs. what you enforce - Etsy will side with the buyer in a case if the item is **not as described**, **damaged in shipping**, or **never arrived** - regardless of your stated policy. These are baseline buyer protections. - For everything else (buyer's remorse, change of mind, sizing they didn't read), Etsy applies your policy as written. Vague policies hurt you here. ## Personalized items Make the no-returns-on-personalized-items language explicit. Etsy and most buyers respect it, but only if it's stated. Quick facts: - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Settings > Policies - Set per shop, then attached per listing (with overrides allowed) - Required: yes, you cannot leave it blank - Buyer-visible: shown on every listing page in an expandable section - Used in cases: Etsy references your policy when judging buyer disputes Common mistakes: - Leaving the default Etsy template policy unchanged. It's vague and doesn't cover personalized work. - "No returns ever" - Etsy still enforces baseline buyer protections, and the language reads aggressively to buyers. ## Search visibility https://everlysthq.com/glossary/search-visibility/ How often your listings appear in Etsy search results for relevant queries. Search visibility is the loose term for "how often your listings show up in Etsy search results." It's not a single number Etsy reports - it's an inferred metric from your impressions, your search query traffic in Stats, and your gut feel from monitoring competitor positioning. ## What drives it 1. **Relevance match** - title, tags, attributes, category, and (less heavily) description matching the buyer query. 2. **Listing quality score** - Etsy showing your listing more because it converts well. 3. **Recency** - fresh listings or recently-sold listings get a short visibility boost. 4. **Buyer location and history** - Etsy personalizes results, so two buyers searching the same term see different orders. ## How to actually improve it - **Match the way buyers search**, not the way you describe your product. "Mug for engineer" vs. "Cylindrical drinkware vessel." - **Fill every attribute slot.** Filtered search is invisible to listings with empty attributes. - **Use all 13 tag slots with phrases**, not single words. - **Improve conversion on existing high-traffic listings** before chasing new keywords. Etsy rewards what already works. ## Etsy search vs. Google search Etsy listings can appear in both, and they rank by completely different rules. Google cares about backlinks, page age, and structured data. Etsy cares about conversion, completeness, and recency. Optimizing for one doesn't always help the other. Quick facts: - Where to measure: Shop Manager > Stats > Traffic - Influenced by: title, tags, category, attributes, listing quality score - Etsy search ≠ Google search: each has its own ranking system - Listing-level metric: each listing has its own visibility per query Common mistakes: - Treating Etsy search like Google. Backlinks don't matter; conversion does. - Constantly re-listing to chase the recency boost. Etsy isn't fooled. ## Section https://everlysthq.com/glossary/section/ Shorthand for "shop section" - a category bucket inside your shop that organizes listings on your shop home page. "Section" is the everyday shorthand most Etsy sellers use for **shop section** - your shop-only category buckets that organize listings on your shop home page. Buyers see them as filters in your shop sidebar; the rest of Etsy never sees them. A listing belongs to exactly one section, you get up to 20 sections, and the order is set in Shop Manager > Listings > Sections. ## Section vs. category - the distinction that trips people up - **Section** is *your* internal grouping ("Mugs," "New arrivals," "Sale"). Shop-only. - **Category** is Etsy's global taxonomy ("Home & Living > Mugs"). Controls Etsy-wide search. A listing can sit in your "Holiday gifts" section while its Etsy category is "Mugs" - the two systems are independent. ## Why this matters more than it looks First-time buyers usually arrive on a single listing and never see your shop home. **Repeat buyers, favoriters, and people from your social channels** land on the shop page first - and that's where sections do the work. Empty or default-named sections ("Section 1") are a small but visible trust signal that the shop isn't being maintained. For the full definition with mistakes and tips, see [shop section](/glossary/shop-section). Quick facts: - Also called: shop section - Maximum sections per shop: 20 - Listings per section: unlimited (one section per listing) - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Listings > Sections - Buyer impact: shows in your shop sidebar and as a filter on your shop page ## Shipping profile https://everlysthq.com/glossary/shipping-profile/ A reusable shipping configuration - origin, processing time, destinations, and rates - that you attach to listings. A shipping profile bundles every shipping decision - origin ZIP, handling/processing time, supported destinations, and per-zone rates - into a named template you attach to listings. Most shops have between 3 and 10 profiles covering different weight brackets or fragility tiers. ## Pricing models - **Calculated shipping**: Etsy calls USPS/UPS APIs and shows the buyer real-time rates based on package weight + destination. - **Fixed shipping**: you set a flat rate per zone. - **Free shipping**: you absorb the cost into the item price. (Etsy still takes 6.5% on the higher item price, so this isn't a fee dodge.) ## Why profiles instead of per-listing rates Updating shipping costs across 200 listings is a nightmare without profiles. With profiles, you change one profile and every attached listing inherits the update. With per-listing shipping, you'd be editing 200 listings. ## When to make a new profile - New weight bracket (e.g. you started selling sets that ship USPS Priority instead of First Class). - New origin (you opened a second studio with a different ZIP). - Different processing time (a small line of made-to-order items needs 14 days vs. your usual 3). ## Common profile bugs - Origin ZIP wrong → calculated shipping returns wildly off rates. - Handling time set to 1 business day when you actually need 3 → Star Seller ding. - Free shipping on heavy items → you absorb $20 of postage on a $30 item. Quick facts: - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Settings > Shipping settings - Reusable across listings: Yes - Per-listing override: No (you change the profile or apply a different one) - Pricing models: calculated, fixed, or free - International: opt-in per profile Common mistakes: - One profile per listing. You'll have 200 profiles in a year and no idea what changed where. - Forgetting to add international zones, then losing every overseas buyer to "no shipping available." ## Shop name https://everlysthq.com/glossary/shop-name/ The URL handle that identifies your Etsy shop, not the descriptive tagline beneath it. Your Etsy shop name is the compact identifier at the top of your storefront. It is also the handle inside your shop address, so a name such as `NorthPineStudio` produces `etsy.com/shop/NorthPineStudio`. It is not the sentence that describes what your shop sells. ## Etsy shop name rules Etsy requires a shop name to be **4 to 20 characters** long. Use letters and numbers only. Spaces, hyphens, and punctuation are not accepted, so sellers often capitalize the first letter of each word to keep a combined name readable. You can edit it in **Shop Manager > Settings > Your shop > Shop name > Edit**. Etsy currently allows an open shop to change its name up to five times in those settings. Further changes require Etsy Support approval. ## Why the name is effectively permanent in practice A name change updates the shop URL. Etsy says links using the previous shop name automatically redirect to the new one, but the old name also becomes unavailable to other sellers. You may still need to update packaging, social profiles, saved graphics, and any written references to the old address. That makes the field more like a durable brand handle than a short SEO description. Choose something memorable, readable without spaces, and broad enough to survive changes in your product mix. Do not try to compress a list of keywords into 20 characters. ## Where descriptive keywords belong Use the **shop title** to summarize the range of items you sell. Use your shop description and About section for the wider story. For individual products, put accurate search language in the listing title, tags, attributes, and description. To separate all three fields, read [shop title](/glossary/shop-title) for the storefront tagline and [title](/glossary/title) for the 140-character title attached to one listing. Quick facts: - Length: 4 to 20 characters - Characters: letters and numbers only, with no spaces, hyphens, or punctuation - URL: the name becomes etsy.com/shop/YourShopName - Where to edit: Shop Manager > Settings > Your shop > Shop name > Edit Common mistakes: - Keyword-stuffing a field that is too short to carry useful keyword coverage. - Confusing the shop name with the shop title, which is the descriptive tagline below it. ## Shop section https://everlysthq.com/glossary/shop-section/ A category bucket inside your shop that organizes listings on your shop home page. A shop section is *your* internal grouping - different from Etsy's global category taxonomy. Buyers see your sections in the sidebar of your shop home page and use them to browse just your shop, not all of Etsy. A listing belongs to **exactly one section**, and you get up to **20 sections** total. The order of sections in the sidebar is set in Shop Manager > Listings > Sections, drag-to-reorder. ## Section vs. category - **Category** is Etsy-wide ("Home & Living > Mugs"). It controls which Etsy search results you appear in. - **Section** is shop-only ("Mugs," "New Arrivals," "Sale"). It controls how buyers browse your shop. A listing in the "Mugs" Etsy category can sit in any section you want - including a section called "Holiday Gifts" that mixes mugs, prints, and keychains. ## Why sections matter for repeat buyers First-time buyers usually arrive on a single listing and never see your shop page. Repeat buyers, favoriters, and people who came from your social channels land on the **shop home page** - and that's where sections do the work. Empty or generic sections ("Section 1") hurt conversion for the audience that already trusts you. Quick facts: - Maximum sections per shop: 20 - Listings per section: unlimited (one section per listing) - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Listings > Sections - Buyer impact: shows in your shop sidebar and as a filter on your shop page - Also called: section Common mistakes: - Default-named sections ("Section 1") shipped to production. Always rename. - Too many sections (15+) - buyers skip the sidebar entirely and just use search. - Mismatched casing or punctuation across sections. "New arrivals," "New Arrivals", "NEW ARRIVALS" looks careless. ## Shop title https://everlysthq.com/glossary/shop-title/ The descriptive tagline beneath your Etsy shop name, not the shop's URL handle or a listing title. Your Etsy shop title is the short descriptive line shown directly under your shop name on the shop homepage. Etsy also calls this field a tagline. It gives buyers a quick explanation of the shop without changing the name or URL. ## Shop title rules and placement The shop title can be **up to 55 characters** long. Etsy's help page does not publish a formal allowed-character list for this field. Live Etsy shops commonly use spaces and punctuation in their titles, so those are observed seller practice rather than a separately documented character-set rule. Add or edit the field from **Shop Manager**, select the pencil icon beside your shop name under **Sales Channels**, then choose **Add a shop title** or **Edit**. Buyers encounter the result beneath the shop name when they visit your storefront. Search engines can also read it on the shop page, and Etsy recommends using it to briefly describe your shop and the items you sell. ## How to write a useful shop title Describe the shop's overall assortment, not one featured item. A seller offering ceramic mugs, bowls, and serving pieces could use "Handmade stoneware for kitchens and tables." That remains accurate as individual listings sell out or new designs appear. Start with the clearest product category or specialty, then add one useful distinction if space remains. Materials, style, intended room, or production method can help when they apply across the catalog. Avoid a string of near-duplicate keywords. The field should read as one concise description for a buyer who has never seen the shop before. Leaving the shop title empty removes that immediate context. Repeating the shop name wastes most of the field because the name already appears directly above it. ## Shop title vs. listing title A shop title describes the storefront and stops at 55 characters. A **listing title** describes one item and has a 140-character limit. The fields appear in different places and should not carry the same copy. Read [shop name](/glossary/shop-name) for the URL handle and [title](/glossary/title) for the headline attached to an individual listing. Quick facts: - Length: up to 55 characters - Observed on live Etsy shops: spaces and punctuation are used in shop titles - Buyer placement: directly under the shop name on the shop homepage - Where to edit: Shop Manager > pencil icon by the shop name under Sales Channels > Add or edit shop title Common mistakes: - Assuming the shop title has the 140-character limit used by an individual listing title. - Leaving it empty and missing a clear, buyer-facing description of the shop. ## SKU https://everlysthq.com/glossary/sku/ A short internal code you assign to a product so you can track it across listings, variations, and outside Etsy. A SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is a code **you** invent for your own inventory tracking. Etsy doesn't require it, doesn't validate it, and doesn't show it to buyers - but it shows up in your CSV exports, your variation editor, and any tool that talks to the Etsy API. A useful SKU encodes information: the product family, size, color, or batch. MUG-BLU-11OZ is more useful than A0001. Stick to a pattern across your shop so future-you can grep your spreadsheet without thinking. ## Where SKU shows up - The **Inventory & pricing** section of the listing edit page. - Each variation row, when a listing has variations. - CSV exports as the sku column (one row per variation when the listing has them). - Etsy Open API listing endpoints (sku field on inventory products). ## Why it matters even if Etsy doesn't care - Cross-channel sellers (Etsy + Shopify + wholesale) use the same SKU as a join key. - Bulk edits in Everlyst, Shop Uploader, or any spreadsheet workflow are infinitely easier when SKU is unique and predictable. - Inventory accounting (COGS, restocks, supplier orders) is impossible without one. If your shop has zero SKUs today, the cleanest fix is to assign them in a CSV export, then re-import. Don't try to type 800 SKUs into the Etsy UI one at a time. Quick facts: - Stands for: Stock Keeping Unit - Where it lives: Listing edit page > Inventory & pricing - Character limit: 32 - Visible to buyers: No - Required by Etsy: No Common mistakes: - Leaving SKUs blank, then trying to do inventory accounting later from photos and titles. - Reusing the same SKU across two different products - every variation should be unique. - Burying meaningful data in random IDs like "A0001" that mean nothing six months from now. Tips: - Pick a pattern (e.g. CATEGORY-COLOR-SIZE) and stick with it shop-wide. - Reuse the same SKU on every channel so you have one truth across Etsy, Shopify, and your accounting. - When a variation changes (new color), give it a new SKU rather than overwriting the old one - your historical sales reports will thank you. ## Sold out https://everlysthq.com/glossary/sold-out/ A single-quantity listing where the unit has sold and no buyer can purchase it until you renew. A "sold out" listing is one where the available quantity hit zero. For a multi-quantity listing, that means every unit sold; for a single-quantity listing, the one and only unit sold. Etsy keeps the listing visible - with photos, reviews, and a "Sold out" badge - so buyers can favorite it or sign up for restock requests (if you have Etsy Plus). ## What sold-out listings do for you - **Social proof.** A buyer browsing your shop sees that other people bought. - **Restock signups** (Etsy Plus only). Buyers opt in to be emailed when you re-list. - **Reviews stay attached** - if you re-list, the new listing inherits the review history (because it's the same underlying listing ID). ## What sold-out listings cost you - Continuing to take up "active catalog" headspace in some seller dashboards. - A small drag on overall shop conversion if too many listings are unbuyable. ## Renewing a sold-out listing Renewing brings the listing back to active. You'll pay the $0.20 renewal fee and need to set the new available quantity. The recency boost briefly applies. If you don't intend to restock, deactivate or delete instead - leaving sold-out listings indefinitely is a soft drag on shop quality. Quick facts: - Listing visible to buyers: Yes (with a "Sold out" badge) - Buyer can favorite: Yes - Buyer can checkout: No - Counts as: an inactive listing in your dashboard - Renewal cost: $0.20 to re-list Tips: - Use Etsy Plus restock signups if you sell out of repeatable products - it's the cheapest acquisition channel you have. - For one-of-a-kind work, deactivate sold-out listings rather than letting them clutter the catalog. ## Star Seller https://everlysthq.com/glossary/star-seller/ Etsy's recognition program for sellers who consistently meet messaging, shipping, and review standards. Star Seller is Etsy's badge program for shops that consistently meet Etsy's customer-service targets. Etsy reviews eligibility on the first of each month using the previous 3 months of shop activity: 1. **Average review rating** - 4.8+ over the review period. 2. **On-time shipping with tracking** - 95%+ of orders shipped within stated processing time with valid tracking or an Etsy label when required. 3. **Message response time** - 95%+ of first messages answered within 24 hours. 4. **Sales floor and eligibility** - at least 5 orders, $300+ in sales, 90 days since first sale, and Etsy's customer-service case standard. If you qualify, Etsy can show a badge on your shop and listings. Some buyers treat it as a trust signal, but the revenue impact is anecdotal. ## What it doesn't do - It doesn't directly affect search ranking. Etsy has been clear that Star Seller is a buyer-facing trust signal, not a ranking input. - It doesn't change your fee structure. - It doesn't guarantee higher conversion. ## What sinks Star Seller most often - **Tracking.** A single order shipped without tracking can drop you below 95% if your volume is small. - **Late messages.** Weekend messages count - the 24-hour clock doesn't pause. - **Refund-driven low ratings.** A buyer who got a refund and still left 3 stars hurts your average. ## Should you chase it? For most sellers, yes - the operational discipline that earns Star Seller (fast replies, tracked shipments, low complaint rate) is good business regardless of the badge. Just don't bet your whole strategy on it. Quick facts: - Review threshold: 4.8+ average review rating - Shipping threshold: 95%+ orders shipped on time with tracking or Etsy labels when required - Messaging threshold: 95%+ first messages answered within 24 hours - Sales requirement: at least 5 orders and $300+ sales over the past 3 months - Eligibility starts 90 days after your first sale and requires Etsy customer service standards - Where it appears: a badge on your shop and listings Tips: - Set up message templates for the most common buyer questions so 24-hour response is realistic. - Use tracking or Etsy labels when required, and set processing times you can actually meet. ## Tag https://everlysthq.com/glossary/tag/ A short keyword phrase you add to a listing to help Etsy match it to buyer searches. Tags are the 13 short keyword phrases Etsy lets you attach to each listing. They're one of the strongest signals Etsy's search uses to match listings to buyer queries. They're also the field most sellers waste. ## What works - **Multi-word phrases**, not single words. "Personalized dog mom mug" beats "mug." - **Long-tail searches** that describe the listing the way a real buyer types. "Boho nursery wall art" gets you in front of intent. - **All 13 slots used.** Etsy's algorithm has 13 chances to match queries - leaving slots empty wastes them. - **No repeats with the title.** Etsy already indexes title words separately. Use tags for synonyms, related phrases, and angles the title doesn't cover. ## What doesn't - **Single common words** like "mug" or "gift" - too competitive, and Etsy already infers them from title and category. - **Plurals of singular tags** ("mug" + "mugs"). Etsy treats them as the same. - **Misspellings.** Etsy's search corrects them; you waste a slot. - **Tags in foreign languages your shop isn't set to.** ## Editing tags at scale Tags are the highest-leverage thing to bulk edit. A small wording shift across 200 listings can move impressions noticeably. Doing it one listing at a time inside Etsy's UI is the slow path. Quick facts: - Maximum tags per listing: 13 - Maximum length per tag: 20 characters - Phrases work: spaces are allowed - Where it lives: Listing edit page > Renewal options & tags - Buyer-visible: No Common mistakes: - Using all 13 slots on single words. Phrases beat words. - Repeating the exact title word-for-word in tags. Etsy already indexes the title. - Leaving slots empty because you "ran out of ideas." Pull from search analytics or look at competing listings. ## Taxonomy https://everlysthq.com/glossary/taxonomy/ Etsy's tree of categories and the attribute sets attached to each category leaf. Etsy's taxonomy is the full tree of categories - top-level all the way down to specific leaves - plus the **attribute sets** attached to each leaf. When you pick "Mugs," the taxonomy tells Etsy which attributes to prompt you for: capacity, material, theme, color, occasion. ## Why this matters to most sellers You don't directly interact with "the taxonomy" - you just pick a category from a dropdown. But the taxonomy is what's behind that dropdown, and it's what dictates: - Which attribute fields appear under "About this listing." - Which buyer filters your listing can be matched against. - Which fields the Etsy API expects when creating a listing programmatically. ## Why this matters to anyone using bulk tools Tools that create listings via the Etsy API (Everlyst, Shop Uploader, custom scripts) have to know the current taxonomy to fill attributes correctly. Etsy occasionally updates the taxonomy - a category gets renamed, a new attribute is added, an old one deprecated - and tools have to keep up. ## What you do about it - When Etsy adds a new attribute (e.g., "Sustainability claims"), revisit listings in affected categories and fill it. Otherwise you're missing a filter signal. - When Etsy moves a category (rare), re-check that your listings landed in the right new spot. - If you use a bulk tool and an upload fails with "invalid attribute," it's usually a taxonomy mismatch - the tool's cache is stale, or you're sending an attribute the new category doesn't accept. Quick facts: - Maintained by: Etsy - Updated: occasionally, without warning - Affects: which attributes you can fill on a given listing - API exposure: yes (used by tools that build listings programmatically) ## Title https://everlysthq.com/glossary/title/ The headline of your listing - the single biggest SEO and click-through lever you control. Your listing title does two jobs at once: it tells Etsy what to match against (SEO), and it convinces a buyer to click after they've found you (CTR). The two goals fight each other, and the winning approach treats the **first 60 characters** as the buyer-readable hook and the rest as keyword surface area. This page is about the **listing title**, the 140-character headline attached to one product. Your [shop name](/glossary/shop-name) is the URL handle for the storefront. Your [shop title](/glossary/shop-title) is the descriptive tagline shown under that shop name. ## What Etsy actually does with the title - Indexes every word for search matching. - Heavily weights words that appear earliest. - Treats commas, dashes, and pipes as separators (so "Mug, Coffee Mug, Tea Mug" is read as three matchable phrases). ## What buyers see - On mobile, the truncated first ~50 characters in a search result tile. - On desktop search, roughly 60–70 characters before the "...". - The full title only appears on the listing page itself. ## A workable structure 1. **Hook** (first 60 chars): the most descriptive, click-worthy phrase. "Personalized leather wallet for dad -" 2. **Keyword stack** (remaining 80 chars): comma-separated synonyms, occasions, and audiences. "anniversary gift, custom monogram, men's bifold wallet, fathers day gift" Avoid SEO spam ("BEST!! AMAZING!!") - Etsy's quality scoring penalizes it and buyers ignore it. Quick facts: - Character limit: 140 - First 60 characters: most weighted by Etsy and most visible in search results - Punctuation: Etsy treats commas, dashes, and pipes as word separators - Where it lives: Top of the listing edit page Common mistakes: - Stuffing every keyword into 140 characters with no comma structure. Hard to read and Etsy de-prioritizes it. - Starting the title with "Handmade" or your brand name. Buyers don't search that way. Tips: - Sort your top 50 listings by views and rewrite their first 60 characters first. Highest-leverage edit in the shop. - Test one variant per listing per week - no shop-wide rewrites at once. ## Transaction fee https://everlysthq.com/glossary/transaction-fee/ The 6.5% Etsy takes from every sale, calculated on the item price plus shipping plus gift wrap. The transaction fee is the headline cut Etsy takes from every sale: **6.5% of the item price, plus 6.5% of shipping you charge, plus 6.5% of any gift wrap charge.** It's separate from the payment processing fee (which Etsy also takes) and from any ad fees. ## What's in the 6.5% base - Item price (per unit, multiplied by quantity) - Shipping you charge the buyer - Gift wrap charge if you offer it ## What's not in the base - Sales tax (Etsy collects and remits in marketplace facilitator states; not subject to your fee) - Discounts the buyer applied (transaction fee is on the discounted total) - Etsy-funded coupons (rare; same as above) ## Why "free shipping" doesn't help your margin A common myth: offering free shipping lets you avoid the transaction fee on shipping. It doesn't. You roll the shipping cost into the item price, and Etsy takes 6.5% of that bigger item price instead. Net fee paid: identical. ## Stacking On a typical $30 sale with $5 shipping in the US, the transaction fee alone is $35 × 6.5% = **$2.28**. Add the payment processing fee (~$1.30) and the listing fee ($0.20), and Etsy's take is around $3.78 - about 13% before any ad fees. Quick facts: - Rate: 6.5% of (item price + shipping + gift wrap) - Charged: at the moment of sale - Currency: in your shop's listing currency - In addition to: payment processing fee and any ad fees Tips: - Build your pricing on the all-in fee load (≈12–15% pre-ads), not just 6.5%. - Run a margin calculator on every new SKU before you list it. Surprise fees come out of net profit, not gross. ## Vacation mode https://everlysthq.com/glossary/vacation-mode/ A shop-wide pause that hides your listings from search and prevents new orders. Vacation mode is the right tool for "I'm stepping away from the shop entirely." It hides all your listings from search, displays a vacation message on your shop page, and pauses renewals - but it does **not** cancel existing orders. Anything bought before you flipped vacation mode still has to ship. ## What it does - Hides every active listing from Etsy search. - Shows your vacation message on your shop home page (so buyers who land directly know you're away). - Suspends renewals - no $0.20 charges while vacation is on. - Pauses Etsy Ads. ## What it doesn't do - Cancel pending orders. Ship them or they tank Star Seller and provoke disputes. - Hide your shop URL - buyers who type it directly still see the (vacation) shop page. - Pause buyer messages. They still arrive; you still need to respond if you care about Star Seller messaging metrics. ## When to use it vs. alternatives - **Vacation mode**: 4+ days away with no production capacity. - **Stretch processing time**: not the right tool. Buyers convert and then complain about delays. - **Deactivate individual listings**: only for permanent removal of specific products. ## Pre-vacation checklist 1. Ship every open order or message buyers about delays. 2. Update your shop announcement and vacation message with return date. 3. Set an away message on your conversation auto-reply. 4. Flip vacation mode on. 5. (On return) Flip it off - all listings re-appear in search within minutes. Quick facts: - Where it lives: Shop Manager > Settings > Options > Vacation mode - Effect: listings are hidden from search; shop page shows your vacation message - Existing orders: not affected - you must still ship them - Renewals: paused (no $0.20 charges while in vacation) - Re-activation: instant, all listings reappear in search Tips: - Schedule vacation mode toggling for the start of your day, not the end. Gives you time to respond to anything that came in overnight before listings go dark. ## Variation https://everlysthq.com/glossary/variation/ A buyer-selectable option on a listing (size, color, scent) that can carry its own price, SKU, and stock. Variations let one listing represent many slightly-different products. A "Ceramic mug" listing can offer 11oz / 15oz, blue / cream / black - that's two variation types and six purchasable combinations. ## How Etsy structures variations - A listing can have **up to two variation types** (e.g. Size + Color). - Each type can have **up to 70 options**. - Each combination can carry its own **price**, **quantity**, and **SKU**. - One listing photo can be tagged to a variation option (so picking "blue" swaps the lead photo to the blue mug). ## Why people get this wrong - Sellers often duplicate a listing for every color when one listing with a color variation would do. That's $0.20 per duplicate, every 4 months, forever. - The opposite mistake: cramming wildly different products under one listing because variations are free. Buyers expect variations to be the same product in different flavors, not entirely different items. ## Editing variations at scale Etsy's variation editor is one listing at a time, with no bulk operations. Updating prices for "11oz mugs" across 40 listings means 40 separate visits to the Inventory page. CSV-based tools and dedicated variation editors fix this - one of the most common reasons sellers reach for outside software once their catalog grows. Quick facts: - Variation types per listing: 2 maximum - Options per type: up to 70 - Per-variation price: optional - Per-variation quantity: optional - Per-variation photo: optional (one of the listing photos) Common mistakes: - Creating one listing per color when you could have used a single listing with a color variation - wastes renewal fees. - Forgetting to tick "Inventory and pricing varies for each combination" - Etsy then collapses your variations into one price/SKU. - Using variations to fake a multi-product bundle. Buyers report and Etsy can deactivate. ## Video dimensions https://everlysthq.com/glossary/video-dimensions/ The recommended length and format for the optional 5–15 second video on each listing. Etsy lets you add one short video per listing. It autoplays muted in the carousel and is one of the highest-leverage adds you can make to a listing - listings with video reportedly convert noticeably better in most categories. ## Specs to follow - **5–15 seconds.** Anything longer gets trimmed. - **MP4 or MOV.** - **Under 100 MB.** - **Square (1:1) or close to it.** The carousel renders this best. Vertical (9:16) gets letterboxed; landscape (16:9) gets cropped. ## What works - **Show the product moving.** Hand turning a mug, fabric draping, jewelry catching light. - **Show scale.** Hand holding the item next to a known reference. - **Show usage.** A coaster being used under a real coffee cup. ## What doesn't - **Audio-dependent content.** The video plays muted by default; most buyers never unmute. Don't put critical info in voice-over. - **Branding intros longer than 1 second.** You have 15 seconds total - don't waste them on a logo splash. - **Static product on a turntable for 15 seconds.** Photos already do this. ## Production reality Phone video, decent natural light, edited to 10 seconds, exported at 1080×1080 - that's the entire bar. You don't need a videographer; you need to show the product in motion. Quick facts: - Length: 5–15 seconds - Format: MP4 or MOV - Maximum file size: 100 MB - Audio: not played in the listing carousel (autoplays muted) - Aspect ratio: square (1:1) displays best Tips: - Add video to your top 20 listings first. Highest-impact listings see the biggest conversion lift. # Seller segments https://everlysthq.com/for/ ## Print-on-demand Etsy shops: controlling a multiplied catalog https://everlysthq.com/for/print-on-demand/ One design can create a hundred listings and thousands of variation rows. The useful tools are the ones that keep repeated structures visible and reversible. A print-on-demand catalog grows by multiplication. The same artwork appears on shirts, hoodies, mugs, and posters, then each physical product adds a [variation](/glossary/variation) grid for size and color. The listing count and the number of purchasable combinations grow much faster than the underlying design library. That structure also makes maintenance arrive in waves. A new drop creates many related listings at once, while a cost or wording change reaches across an entire design family. The print service remains a separate [production partner](/glossary/production-partner), so catalog work and provider operations need clear boundaries. Catalog pathology: - One artwork is repeated across several product types, so a small design library becomes a large listing catalog. - Size and color combinations multiply inside each listing, creating thousands of variant rows to maintain. - New releases arrive in batches, and a twenty-design drop across five products can create one hundred listings at once. - Provider cost changes force wide price corrections while shared title and tag patterns make copy updates catalog-wide. - Designs that never earn a sale remain mixed in with the small group that carries the shop. Everlyst capabilities: - Growth supports 200 listing creations per month through CSV import. Pro removes the creation limit for shops publishing more than 200 listings monthly. - Growth includes reusable variation profiles and missing-variation detection across related listings. - Variation price changes run through a before-and-after diff, and confirmed bulk jobs receive an automatic Backup & Restore snapshot. - Growth includes Pareto analysis and variation-level sales breakdowns for identifying the designs and options that produce revenue. - Growth covers dead stock across the full catalog. Starter stops at 50 listings, which does not fit a multiplied print-on-demand catalog. - Growth supports bulk mockup uploads with optional alt text for each image and variation image mapping across related listings. Limitations: - Everlyst does not connect to Printify, Printful, or another print provider. It reads and writes Etsy only. Recommended plan: Growth Choose Growth for variation maintenance, bulk image management, full-catalog dead stock coverage, and the analytics needed to separate productive designs from inactive ones. Pro is justified when monthly listing creation exceeds 200 or bulk video management is required. FAQ **How many listings can Growth create from CSV each month?** Growth allows 200 listing creations per month. Pro provides unlimited listing creation, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours). **Can Everlyst update print-on-demand mockups in bulk?** Yes. Growth and Pro support bulk image uploads with optional alt text for every staged image. **Does Everlyst replace a Printify or Printful connection?** No. Everlyst connects to Etsy only and does not communicate with a print provider. **Why is Starter not the recommended plan for print-on-demand?** Starter does not include the cross-listing variation workflow and limits dead stock coverage to 50 listings. ## Digital download sellers: managing a catalog that keeps accumulating https://everlysthq.com/for/digital-downloads/ Automatic delivery removes shipping work, but it leaves a growing catalog where renewal cost and inactive listings need deliberate attention. An Etsy [digital download](/glossary/digital-download) is delivered automatically after purchase. Etsy hides shipping fields and does not use a processing time for that automatic delivery, so the ongoing work sits in the product pages and the growing body of older listings. Renewal cost becomes the recurring catalog question. The [renewal fee](/glossary/renewal-fee) applies every four months when auto-renew remains enabled, whether an active listing earned a sale during that period or not. A useful audit therefore separates products that still contribute from products that remain active only because nobody reviewed them. Catalog pathology: - Digital delivery removes shipping and processing-time fields, leaving catalog maintenance concentrated in the listing itself. - Older products remain beside current work until the seller deliberately expires, deactivates, or revises them. - Auto-renewal can keep an unsold listing active and charging fees without a corresponding sale. - A flat catalog with years of titles, descriptions, and tags becomes difficult to audit one listing at a time. Everlyst capabilities: - Starter includes the Orders dashboard with fulfillment deadlines and order-status filters. - Starter includes dead stock detection for 50 listings and shows which active products have not sold inside the selected window. - Starter includes shipped bulk renewal toggle controls for turning off auto-renew on selected listings. - Growth adds per-listing fee breakdowns from observed payment data and expands dead stock coverage to the full catalog. - Starter supports bulk description and tag changes plus advanced filtering across the catalog. Limitations: - The live feature documentation does not describe management of files attached to digital listings. Everlyst is documented here as editing listing fields, not attached files. Recommended plan: Starter Start with Starter for renewal controls, dead stock detection, advanced filtering, and full paid-plan field editing. Move to Growth when the catalog exceeds the 50-listing dead stock limit or payment-based fee detail becomes necessary. Pro does not add a documented capability central to this workflow. FAQ **Can Starter turn off auto-renew in bulk?** Yes. Bulk renewal toggle controls are shipped on Starter and higher plans. **Does Everlyst manage the downloadable files attached to a listing?** The live feature collection does not document attached-file management. This page treats Everlyst as a listing-field editor rather than a digital file manager. **When does a digital catalog need Growth?** Growth becomes relevant when dead stock coverage must extend beyond 50 listings or per-listing fee breakdowns are needed. **Is the Orders dashboard available now?** Yes. The Orders dashboard is available on Starter and higher plans with fulfillment deadlines and order-status filters. ## Jewelry sellers on Etsy: keeping option-heavy listings consistent https://everlysthq.com/for/jewelry/ Sizes, metals, and chain lengths create dense option sets. The catalog stays manageable only when repeated variation structures and price changes can be reviewed together. Jewelry catalogs concentrate complexity inside each listing. Etsy documents up to two [variation](/glossary/variation) types in the seller-facing listing structure, so a ring may combine size with metal while a necklace may combine metal with chain length. Across hundreds of listings, those combinations become thousands of rows with distinct prices, quantities, and SKUs. The surrounding fields also remain active. [Processing time](/glossary/processing-time) affects made-to-order expectations, [personalization](/glossary/personalization) carries buyer-supplied details, and category-specific [attributes](/glossary/attribute) affect filtered search. The hard part is keeping repeated option structures consistent while costs and demand change. Catalog pathology: - A listing may combine ring size with metal, or metal with chain length, producing many purchasable combinations from two variation types. - Repeated size ranges can drift when one option disappears from part of the catalog. - Made-to-order work keeps processing settings and personalization details active in routine maintenance. - Material cost changes can make many variation prices stale at the same time. - The metal or size a seller expects to perform is not always the option buyers actually choose. Everlyst capabilities: - Growth provides reusable variation profiles for applying a consistent option set across related listings. - Missing-variation detection identifies listings where an expected size, metal, or length is absent. - Growth includes variation-level sales breakdowns for comparing the options that sold with those that remained inactive. - Variation prices can be changed across selected listings with a visible diff before the job applies. - Growth includes cross-listing variation image mapping for shared option values. - Confirmed variation jobs use the same automatic Backup & Restore snapshot path as other bulk changes. Limitations: - Starter does not include cross-listing variation editing or variation image mapping. Both require Growth or Pro. Recommended plan: Growth Choose Growth because cross-listing variation editing and variation image mapping are central to this workflow and are not included on Starter. Pro adds bulk video management when video is part of the shop presentation. FAQ **Can Starter edit jewelry variations across listings?** No. Cross-listing variation editing is available on Growth and Pro. **Can Everlyst find a ring size missing from related listings?** Yes. Missing-variation detection is included in the Growth variation workflow. **Does variation image mapping work today?** Yes. Growth and Pro include cross-listing variation image mapping for shared option values. **What analytics help with jewelry options?** Growth includes variation-level sales breakdowns so sizes and other options can be compared using actual sales. ## Vintage Etsy shops: controlling a catalog of one-off items https://everlysthq.com/for/vintage/ One-off inventory creates constant catalog churn. Renewal controls and dead stock coverage matter more than variation tooling. A vintage catalog is often built from distinct items rather than a repeatable product line. When a one-off piece reaches [sold out](/glossary/sold-out), the seller usually moves on to different inventory, leaving a stream of unique titles, tags, prices, and photos to maintain. That makes the [renewal fee](/glossary/renewal-fee) a sharper operating question. An older listing can remain active through automatic renewals even when its current presentation or price has not found a buyer. The useful catalog view is therefore one that separates current opportunities from listings that have gone quiet. Catalog pathology: - Many vintage products are one-offs, so sold items leave the active catalog instead of becoming repeat inventory. - Each listing needs its own title and tags because the item is distinct rather than one member of a repeated product family. - Large catalogs accumulate older items whose current price or presentation has not produced a sale. - Renewal decisions recur across hundreds of unrelated listings, making one-at-a-time review expensive. - Without a repeated variation structure, filters are the practical way to divide the catalog into workable groups. Everlyst capabilities: - Starter includes shipped bulk renewal toggle controls for changing auto-renew across selected listings. - Starter includes the renewal waste report on Dead Stock with deactivation and renewal controls. - Dead stock detection identifies active listings with no sales inside the chosen window. Starter covers 50 listings. - Starter supports bulk title and tag editing across filtered groups of one-off products. - Declining-performer detection is available on Starter and higher plans. - Advanced filtering provides the catalog slices needed when variation groups are not the organizing structure. Limitations: - Free cannot currently open the Dead Stock page for a read-only renewal waste view. Starter is the lowest tier with the live report. Recommended plan: Starter Start on Starter because renewal controls, filtering, and paid-plan bulk editing are the useful capabilities here. The single reason to move to Growth is dead stock coverage: Starter stops at 50 listings, while Growth covers the full catalog. Skip Pro for this workflow. FAQ **Is the full renewal report available on Starter today?** Yes. Starter includes the renewal waste report on Dead Stock with deactivation and renewal controls. **Why does this page recommend Starter?** The variation workflow is not the central job for the one-off catalog described here, while Starter already includes renewal controls, filtering, and broad field editing. **What is the reason to upgrade a vintage shop to Growth?** Dead stock coverage is the reason. Starter covers 50 listings and Growth covers the full catalog. **Can Everlyst edit titles and tags across selected vintage listings?** Yes. Starter and higher plans include full bulk editing across listing fields. ## Craft supply sellers: managing quantities and pack-size options at scale https://everlysthq.com/for/craft-supplies/ Finite stock, frequent restocking, and pack-size options make quantity and variation maintenance the center of the catalog. Craft supplies are physical [in-stock](/glossary/in-stock) goods, so the number on Etsy needs to stay aligned with what is actually available. Pack quantity can also become a [variation](/glossary/variation), allowing one listing to hold several purchasable combinations with separate prices and quantities. That creates two maintenance layers. Routine restocking changes the listing values, while sales concentration determines which products deserve the closest attention. A catalog can look broad even when a small set of supplies produces most of its revenue. Catalog pathology: - Physical stock changes as supplies arrive and sell, so listing quantities need regular correction. - Pack size can function as a variation, with ten-pack, fifty-pack, and hundred-pack options carrying different prices. - Quantity errors can leave a product available after the shelf is empty or unavailable while stock remains. - A small number of products may account for a large share of shop revenue while other supplies sit inactive. - Restocking decisions depend on separating recent movement from products that have stopped contributing. Everlyst capabilities: - Starter and higher plans support bulk quantity editing. Free is limited to five core fields and does not include quantity. - Growth provides cross-listing variation editing for pack-size options and their prices or quantities. - Starter includes a 90-day analytics history and declining-performer detection for recent catalog movement. - Growth adds Pareto analytics for identifying the listings that carry most of the shop revenue. - Dead stock detection covers 50 listings on Starter and the full catalog on Growth and Pro. Limitations: - Everlyst does not connect to a supplier, warehouse, or external inventory system. Quantity is an Etsy listing field, not a synchronized count of stock held elsewhere. Recommended plan: Growth Choose Growth when pack-size variations are a normal selling structure or full-catalog Pareto and dead stock analysis is required. Starter is sufficient for a flat catalog that mainly needs quantity changes, filtering, and recent analytics. FAQ **Can the Free plan bulk-edit quantity?** No. Free bulk editing is limited to title, description, tags, return policy, and personalization. **Which plan handles pack-size variations?** Growth and Pro include cross-listing variation editing for option-heavy catalogs. **Does Everlyst synchronize stock from a warehouse?** No. Everlyst changes the quantity stored on Etsy and does not integrate with an outside inventory system. **When is Starter enough for craft supplies?** Starter fits a flat catalog that needs paid-plan quantity editing, advanced filtering, and 90 days of analytics without cross-listing variation work. # Comparisons ## Everlyst vs Vela https://everlysthq.com/compare/vela/ Vela is the market's biggest listing manager, with an AI suite (copy, photos, scoring), CSV import and export, scheduling, reusable profiles, and publishing to Etsy, Shopify, eBay, and Faire. Where it stops: no backup and restore, no transaction analytics, and Etsy is one channel among several rather than the whole design. Verdict: Everlyst is the better pick if Etsy is your only marketplace and you want operational safety (diff preview, snapshots) plus performance analytics Vela doesn't offer, at a lower price. Vela is the better pick if you publish the same catalog to multiple marketplaces, want AI-generated copy and photos, or need to hand shop access to a VA. Highlights: - Etsy-native depth instead of multichannel breadth - Diff preview and snapshot rollback Vela doesn't have - Performance analytics on every listing - Lower price with a real free tier and annual discounts When Vela is the better choice: - You sell on Etsy and Shopify, eBay, or Faire from the same catalog. - You want AI copy, AI photo studio work, and AI listing scoring as core workflow. - You need to give a VA or team member access without sharing Etsy credentials. Pricing: - Vela: Lite from $19.95/mo per shop (0 to 500 listings), scaling to $44.95/mo for large catalogs; Plus adds the AI suite at a higher rate. Vela has no backup and restore or transaction analytics. **When is Vela the better choice for managing sales channels?** Vela is the better choice when the same catalog must publish to Etsy, Shopify, eBay, or Faire from one tool. **How do Vela and Everlyst approach AI tools?** Vela includes AI copy, photo studio work, and listing scoring. Everlyst is deliberately AI-free and keeps listing changes seller-controlled and reviewable. **Does switching from Vela require exporting and importing my Etsy catalog?** No. Everlyst connects to Etsy through OAuth and syncs the live catalog directly from Etsy, so Vela does not need to export or transfer the listings. ## Everlyst vs Evlista https://everlysthq.com/compare/evlista/ Evlista is one of the strongest Etsy-only editors on the market, with deep bulk photo management, saveable variation profiles, automated repricing, and Magic Revert backups. Where it stops is the operational layer: no CSV pipeline, no scheduling, no diff preview before changes apply, and no performance analytics. Verdict: Everlyst is the better pick if your workflow runs through spreadsheets, scheduled campaigns, and performance data: CSV import and re-import with diff preview, scheduling, and a full analytics suite Evlista doesn't offer. Evlista is the better pick if automated repricing or full bulk photo editing, with crop, filters and layered branding, is central to how you operate. Highlights: - Full CSV pipeline with diff preview - Scheduled listing updates - Performance analytics on every listing - The same rollback safety, plus a preview before you need it When Evlista is the better choice: - Automated dynamic repricing matters to you (Evlista Pro adjusts prices from sales performance, with your approval and price floors). - You do heavy bulk photo work beyond adding text: a full overlay editor plus crop and filter tools applied across listings. - You want the lowest possible free entry (Evlista's free tier covers bulk titles and return policies across unlimited shops). Pricing: - Evlista: Free tier (titles and return policies). Basic $12.95/mo ($59.99/yr). Pro $19.95/mo ($197.95/yr). Magic Revert, variations, videos, and dynamic pricing are Pro-only, and listing backups are deleted if you cancel. - Everlyst: Free tier with no card. Starter $9/mo, Growth $15/mo, Pro $28/mo, with annual discounts on every tier. ### Workspace | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | One-click Etsy OAuth connection | Yes | Yes | | Synced, searchable catalog workspace | Yes | Yes | | Inline quick edit on any cell | No | Yes | | Advanced Edit full-page listing editor | No | Yes | ### Editing | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk edit all major listing fields | Yes | Yes | | Bulk activate / deactivate / delete | Partial | Yes | | Diff preview before bulk apply | No | Yes | | Renewal bulk controls | No | Yes | Notes: - Bulk edit all major listing fields, Evlista: Evlista gates price, quantity, and variation editing to Pro ### CSV | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | CSV export of full catalog | No | Yes | | CSV import with validation | No | Yes | | CSV re-import with diff preview | No | Yes | ### Safety | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Snapshot backup and restore | Yes | Yes | | Scheduled listing updates | No | Yes | Notes: - Snapshot backup and restore, Evlista: Evlista: Magic Revert, Pro-only; backups deleted on cancellation (verified July 2026) - Snapshot backup and restore, Everlyst: Excess snapshots stay locked for 30 days after downgrade - Scheduled listing updates, Everlyst: Growth plan and up ### Variations | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Reusable variation profiles | Yes | Yes | | Variation-level filtered price edits | Yes | Yes | | Missing-variation detection | No | Yes | Notes: - Reusable variation profiles, Evlista: Evlista: Pro-only ### Media | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk photo management | Yes | Yes | | Photo overlay / branding editor | Yes | Partial | Notes: - Bulk photo management, Evlista: Evlista is deep here (slot positions, overlays, editor). - Bulk photo management, Everlyst: Growth adds multi-listing uploads with alt text, bulk text on photos, and variation image mapping - Photo overlay / branding editor, Evlista: Evlista has a full editor with crop and filters. - Photo overlay / branding editor, Everlyst: Growth adds bulk text on photos: one text layer, three fonts, nine positions, optional banner ### Pricing | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Automated dynamic repricing | Yes | No | Notes: - Automated dynamic repricing, Evlista: Evlista Pro-only ### AI | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | AI tag suggestions | Yes | No | Notes: - AI tag suggestions, Evlista: Everlyst is deliberately AI-free and keeps listing changes seller-controlled and reviewable ### Insights | Feature | Evlista | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Sales analytics dashboard | No | Yes | | Listing Health scoring | No | Yes | | Issue Detection quality audit | No | Yes | | Dead stock and declining-performer alerts | No | Yes | | Per-listing fee breakdown from real payment data | No | Yes | ### FAQ **How do Evlista Magic Revert and Everlyst Backup & Restore differ?** Evlista's Magic Revert is Pro-only and its listing backups are deleted when you cancel. Everlyst keeps snapshots above a lower plan's limit visible and locked for 30 days after a downgrade, and upgrading during that window restores access. **Which Evlista plan is required for price, quantity, and variation editing?** Evlista gates price, quantity, and variation editing to its Pro plan. Everlyst includes full bulk editing from Starter at $9/mo and variations from Growth at $15/mo. **Which tool has deeper bulk photo controls?** Evlista has deeper bulk photo tooling, including slot-position edits, a full overlay editor, and crop and filter tools across listings. Everlyst Growth can add a text layer, such as a sale message, to one photo across many listings, but it has no crop, filter, or multi-layer editing. **Does Everlyst offer Evlista-style automated dynamic repricing?** No. Evlista Pro can adjust prices from sales performance with seller approval and price floors. Everlyst does not offer automated dynamic repricing. **Can Everlyst sync my shop without using an Evlista export?** Yes. Everlyst uses Etsy OAuth to read the current listings, variations, and inventory from Etsy itself. Evlista is not part of that sync. ## Everlyst vs Shop Uploader https://everlysthq.com/compare/shop-uploader/ Shop Uploader is the spreadsheet power tool: template-driven creation and updates, image-to-variation linking, translation to every Etsy language, and per-operation pricing from $5/mo. What it isn't is a workspace: no synced catalog to browse, no diff preview, no scheduling, no rollback, and every create or update draws down a monthly meter. Verdict: Everlyst is the better pick if you want a live catalog workspace alongside the CSV workflow, with unmetered bulk edits on all paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours), diff preview, scheduling, and rollback. Shop Uploader fits sellers with a strict spreadsheet authoring pipeline, modest monthly volume, and no need to work in a synced catalog. Highlights: - A synced workspace, not just an upload pipe - Unmetered bulk edits on all paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours) with no per-operation billing - Diff preview, scheduling, and snapshot rollback - Insights suite Shop Uploader doesn't have When Shop Uploader is the better choice: - Your entire workflow is spreadsheet-authored and you don't want a workspace. - You need listing translation into every Etsy-supported language. - Your monthly create and update volume is small and predictable, so metered pricing stays cheap. Pricing: - Shop Uploader: $5/mo (50 listings) to $39/mo (500 listings), business tiers to $300/mo. Every plan meters creates, updates, and partial updates; extra shops are $5/mo each. 7-day trial, no free tier. - Everlyst: Free tier with no card. Paid from $9/mo with no per-listing meter on bulk edits on any paid plan. ### CSV | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | CSV import for bulk creation | Yes | Yes | | Upload validation with error display | Yes | Yes | | CSV export of full catalog | Yes | Yes | | CSV re-import with diff preview | No | Yes | Notes: - CSV export of full catalog, Shop Uploader: Shop Uploader: download existing listings to a spreadsheet - CSV re-import with diff preview, Shop Uploader: Shop Uploader pushes updates without a row-by-row diff ### Workspace | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Synced, searchable catalog workspace | No | Yes | | Inline quick edit on any cell | No | Yes | ### Editing | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk edit existing listings | Yes | Yes | | Unmetered bulk edits | No | Yes | | Diff preview before bulk apply | No | Yes | Notes: - Bulk edit existing listings, Shop Uploader: Shop Uploader: spreadsheet-driven and metered per update - Unmetered bulk edits, Everlyst: All paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours); the free tier caps bulk jobs at 3 per day ### Safety | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Snapshot backup and restore | No | Yes | | Scheduled listing updates | No | Yes | Notes: - Scheduled listing updates, Everlyst: Growth plan and up ### Variations | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Assign images to variation values across listings | Yes | Yes | | Cross-listing variation grid editing | No | Yes | | Missing-variation detection | No | Yes | Notes: - Assign images to variation values across listings, Shop Uploader: Via spreadsheet upload - Assign images to variation values across listings, Everlyst: In-app mapper with live variation reads ### Translation | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Listing translation (all Etsy languages) | Yes | No | ### Insights | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Sales analytics dashboard | No | Yes | | Listing Health scoring | No | Yes | | Issue Detection quality audit | No | Yes | | Dead stock and declining-performer alerts | No | Yes | ### Pricing | Feature | Shop Uploader | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Free tier without a card | No | Yes | Notes: - Free tier without a card, Shop Uploader: Shop Uploader: 7-day trial ### FAQ **When does Shop Uploader fit better than a synced catalog workspace?** Shop Uploader fits sellers whose entire workflow is spreadsheet-authored, whose monthly volume is small and predictable, or who need translation into every Etsy-supported language. **How does Shop Uploader meter listing work?** Its plans meter creates, updates, and partial updates, from $5/mo for 50 listings to $39/mo for 500 listings, with higher business tiers. Everlyst bulk edits are unmetered on paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours). **What does Everlyst provide around the spreadsheet workflow?** Everlyst adds a synced, searchable catalog, inline editing, row-by-row diff preview on re-import, scheduling on Growth and Pro, snapshot rollback, and analytics. **Do I need Shop Uploader to hand my Etsy data to Everlyst?** No. After OAuth approval, Everlyst reads the live shop directly from Etsy. Shop Uploader does not mediate the connection or the catalog sync. ## Everlyst vs CSV Lister https://everlysthq.com/compare/csv-lister/ CSV Lister has grown from an import-only tool into a full spreadsheet round trip: export listings to a pre-built template, edit in Sheets or Excel, push updates back. The catch is the meter and the gate: every image, attribute, and video costs an operation against a daily cap, and editing existing listings is only included from the $89/mo Plus plan up. Verdict: Everlyst is the better pick if you want the same export-edit-reimport workflow with a diff preview, no daily ops meter, a workspace, rollback, analytics, and bulk editing included from $9/mo instead of $89/mo. Scheduling starts on Growth at $15/mo. CSV Lister fits teams that live entirely in spreadsheets and mostly create rather than edit. Highlights: - Editing included from $9/mo, not $89/mo - No daily operations meter - Diff preview on every re-import - Workspace, scheduling, rollback, and analytics on top When CSV Lister is the better choice: - Your workflow is create-heavy and spreadsheet-only, and the ops meter fits your daily volume. - You want per-category templates with drop-down data entry for complex variation authoring. - You plan to expand to Shopify or eBay through the same vendor when those integrations ship. Pricing: - CSV Lister: $4.99 one-time 3-day trial, then $19/mo (200 ops/day) to $149/mo (4,000 ops/day). Each image, video, and attribute costs an operation, and editing existing listings requires the $89/mo Plus plan or higher. No free tier. - Everlyst: Free tier with no card. Import plus unmetered editing on all paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours) from $9/mo. ### CSV | Feature | CSV Lister | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | CSV import for bulk creation | Yes | Yes | | Upload validation with error display | Yes | Yes | | CSV export of full catalog | Yes | Yes | | CSV re-import for bulk editing | Yes | Yes | | Diff preview on re-import | No | Yes | Notes: - CSV re-import for bulk editing, CSV Lister: CSV Lister: only on Plus ($89/mo) and Max ($149/mo) ### Workspace | Feature | CSV Lister | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Synced, searchable catalog workspace | No | Yes | | Inline quick edit on any cell | No | Yes | ### Editing | Feature | CSV Lister | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Unmetered bulk edits | No | Yes | Notes: - Unmetered bulk edits, CSV Lister: CSV Lister meters every image, video, and attribute against a daily cap - Unmetered bulk edits, Everlyst: All paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours); the free tier caps bulk jobs at 3 per day ### Safety | Feature | CSV Lister | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Snapshot backup and restore | No | Yes | | Scheduled listing updates | No | Yes | Notes: - Scheduled listing updates, Everlyst: Growth plan and up ### Variations | Feature | CSV Lister | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Spreadsheet variation support | Yes | Yes | | Cross-listing variation grid editing | No | Yes | | Missing-variation detection | No | Yes | ### Insights | Feature | CSV Lister | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Sales analytics dashboard | No | Yes | | Listing Health scoring | No | Yes | | Issue Detection quality audit | No | Yes | | Dead stock and declining-performer alerts | No | Yes | ### Pricing | Feature | CSV Lister | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Free tier without a card | No | Yes | Notes: - Free tier without a card, CSV Lister: CSV Lister: $4.99 paid trial ### FAQ **What does CSV Lister charge for editing existing Etsy listings?** Editing existing listings requires CSV Lister Plus at $89/mo or Max at $149/mo. Everlyst includes editing on paid plans starting with Starter at $9/mo. **What counts against the CSV Lister daily operation meter?** Each image, video, and attribute consumes an operation against the plan daily cap. The available plans range from 200 to 4,000 operations per day. **Where is CSV Lister stronger for structured spreadsheet entry?** CSV Lister has per-category templates with drop-down data entry for complex variation authoring. **Does CSV Lister have a free tier, and what can Everlyst Free do?** CSV Lister has no free tier, only a $4.99 paid three-day trial. Everlyst Free needs no card and allows 3 bulk edit jobs per day, up to 100 listings per job, across title, description, tags, return policy, and personalization. **Can Everlyst load the shop without a CSV Lister migration file?** Yes. Everlyst authorizes with Etsy and pulls the current catalog from Etsy's API. A CSV Lister file is optional, not a migration requirement. ## Everlyst vs Bulk Listing Pro https://everlysthq.com/compare/bulk-listing-pro/ Bulk Listing Pro is a Chrome extension with credit-based pricing: $1.99 per 25 listings, no subscription, with AI copy generation, AI translation to ten languages, SEO scoring, and a profit calculator built in. It runs on your browser session rather than a synced workspace, and it has no scheduling, no snapshots, and no diff preview before changes push to Etsy. Verdict: Everlyst is the better pick if you want a persistent synced workspace with a review step before anything goes live, plus scheduling, rollback, and analytics from observed sales data. Bulk Listing Pro fits sporadic, spiky uploaders who want zero monthly commitment and value AI generation and translation at pennies per listing. Highlights: - A persistent synced workspace, not a browser-session tool - Diff preview before anything reaches Etsy - Scheduling and snapshot rollback - Analytics from your real sales ledger, not a pre-listing calculator When Bulk Listing Pro is the better choice: - Your upload volume is spiky and unpredictable, so pay-per-listing credits beat any subscription. - You want AI-generated titles, tags, and descriptions, or AI translation to ten languages, priced per listing. - You prefer a tool that runs inside your own browser session with no OAuth grant. Pricing: - Bulk Listing Pro: Credit packs from $1.99 per 25 listings, no subscription, with 10 free starter credits. AI generation costs 2 credits per listing; AI translation 1 credit. Credits favor spiky, low-volume use. - Everlyst: Free tier with no card. Paid from $9/mo flat with unmetered bulk edits on all paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours), which wins once you edit regularly. ### CSV | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Spreadsheet import (CSV/XLSX) with validation | Yes | Yes | | CSV export of full catalog | Yes | Yes | | CSV re-import with diff preview | No | Yes | ### Workspace | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Synced, searchable catalog workspace | No | Yes | | Form and grid editing views | Yes | Yes | Notes: - Synced, searchable catalog workspace, Bulk Listing Pro: Bulk Listing Pro runs per-session in Chrome ### Editing | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk edit existing listings | Yes | Yes | | Diff preview before bulk apply | No | Yes | ### Safety | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Snapshot backup and restore | No | Yes | | Scheduled listing updates | No | Yes | Notes: - Scheduled listing updates, Everlyst: Growth plan and up ### Variations | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Variation editing workflow | Partial | Yes | | Missing-variation detection | No | Yes | ### AI | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | AI listing generation | Yes | No | | AI translation (10 languages) | Yes | No | | SEO scoring with recommendations | Yes | No | Notes: - AI listing generation, Bulk Listing Pro: Everlyst is deliberately AI-free and keeps listing changes seller-controlled and reviewable - SEO scoring with recommendations, Bulk Listing Pro: Everlyst's Issue Detection audits listing quality from your own data instead ### Insights | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Profit calculator (pre-listing fee math) | Yes | Partial | | Sales analytics dashboard | No | Yes | | Listing Health scoring | No | Yes | | Dead stock and declining-performer alerts | No | Yes | Notes: - Profit calculator (pre-listing fee math), Bulk Listing Pro: Everlyst computes fees from your observed payment ledger rather than manual inputs ### Pricing | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | No-subscription pay-as-you-go option | Yes | No | | Free tier without a card | Partial | Yes | Notes: - Free tier without a card, Bulk Listing Pro: Bulk Listing Pro: 10 free credits ### Workspace | Feature | Bulk Listing Pro | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Works outside Chrome as a cross-platform web app | No | Yes | Notes: - Works outside Chrome as a cross-platform web app, Bulk Listing Pro: Bulk Listing Pro is a Chrome extension ### FAQ **How does a Chrome-session tool differ from Everlyst workspace syncing?** Bulk Listing Pro runs inside a Chrome browser session. Everlyst is a persistent web app with a synced, searchable catalog that remains available outside one browser session. **When are Bulk Listing Pro credits better than a subscription?** Pay-as-you-go credits are better for spiky, low-volume work when a recurring subscription would sit unused between batches. **Which AI and translation tools does Bulk Listing Pro include?** Bulk Listing Pro includes AI title, tag, and description generation plus AI translation to ten languages. Everlyst does not provide those AI features. **Will moving from Bulk Listing Pro disconnect or rewrite my Etsy data?** No. Everlyst connects independently through Etsy OAuth and syncs what is live on Etsy. Bulk Listing Pro is not involved in the connection. ## Everlyst vs Listadum https://everlysthq.com/compare/listadum/ Listadum bridges listing management and analytics: quality scores, keyword research, competitor tracking, profit tracking with real Etsy fees, Time Machine backups, templates, team access, and AI helpers, from a generous free tier. What it lacks is the bulk-operations layer: no CSV import, no diff preview before changes apply, and no scheduling. Verdict: Everlyst is the better pick if bulk operations are your core workflow: CSV round trips with diff preview, scheduling, unmetered edits on all paid plans, subject to fair use (15,000 listing edits per shop in any rolling 24 hours), and variation tooling, alongside a comparable analytics suite. Listadum is the better pick if SEO research, keyword tooling, and competitor tracking matter more to you than bulk-editing depth. Highlights: - Full CSV pipeline with diff preview - Scheduled listing updates - Cross-listing variation grid with missing-variation detection - The same backup safety, plus a preview before you need it When Listadum is the better choice: - Keyword research, tag analysis, and competitor shop tracking are central to your workflow. - You want AI helpers (copy, video generation, image upscaling) built into your listing manager. - You want Pinterest promotion with click tracking from the same tool. Pricing: - Listadum: Generous free tier. Paid from $15/mo flat regardless of listing count. - Everlyst: Free tier with no card. Starter $9/mo, Growth $15/mo, Pro $28/mo. Comparable money; the difference is which feature set you need. ### Workspace | Feature | Listadum | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | One-click Etsy OAuth connection | Yes | Yes | | Synced, searchable catalog workspace | Yes | Yes | | Inline quick edit on any cell | Partial | Yes | ### Editing | Feature | Listadum | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk edit all major listing fields | Yes | Yes | | Diff preview before bulk apply | No | Yes | | Listing templates and snippets | Yes | No | ### CSV | Feature | Listadum | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | CSV export of full catalog | Yes | Yes | | CSV import with validation | No | Yes | | CSV re-import with diff preview | No | Yes | Notes: - CSV import with validation, Listadum: Listadum bulk-creates from image folders instead ### Safety | Feature | Listadum | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Snapshot backup and restore | Yes | Yes | | Scheduled listing updates | No | Yes | Notes: - Snapshot backup and restore, Listadum: Listadum: Time Machine. Listadum calls its system Time Machine, while Everlyst's Backup & Restore stores per-operation snapshots and pairs changes with a diff preview. **Which bulk-operation workflows does Everlyst add beyond Listadum?** Everlyst adds CSV import and re-import with validation and diff preview, scheduled updates on Growth and Pro, a cross-listing variation grid, and missing-variation detection. **Is a Listadum export required before connecting Everlyst?** No. Everlyst receives OAuth access from Etsy and syncs the catalog from Etsy's live records. Listadum stays outside that process. ## Everlyst vs Webyze Bulk Listing Editor https://everlysthq.com/compare/webyze-bulk-editor/ Webyze's Bulk Listing Editor is a standalone web app with one job and one price: search your listings, select, specify the change, apply, in Listings or Variations mode, for $8/mo flat. Its variation editing is genuinely deep (add, remove, and rename options across listings). It has no CSV, no scheduling, no diff preview, no rollback, and no analytics. Verdict: Everlyst is the better pick if you want the safety layer and the data layer: diff preview, snapshots, scheduling, CSV round trips, and analytics. Webyze fits sellers who want the cheapest competent bulk editor and nothing else. Highlights: - Diff preview and snapshot rollback for one dollar more - CSV import, re-import, and export Webyze doesn't have - Scheduled listing updates - Full Insights suite included from Growth When Webyze Bulk Listing Editor is the better choice: - You want the cheapest flat-price bulk editor on the market and need nothing beyond edits. - Deep variation option management (add, remove, rename across listings) is your main job. - You want a minimal single-purpose tool with no learning curve. Pricing: - Webyze Bulk Listing Editor: $8/mo flat, single tier, all features, 7-day trial. - Everlyst: Free tier with no card. Starter $9/mo. At nearly identical prices, the difference is preview, rollback, CSV, and 90-day analytics. Scheduling starts on Growth at $15/mo. ### Workspace | Feature | Webyze Bulk Listing Editor | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | One-click Etsy OAuth connection | Yes | Yes | | Synced, searchable catalog workspace | Partial | Yes | | Inline quick edit on any cell | No | Yes | Notes: - Synced, searchable catalog workspace, Webyze Bulk Listing Editor: Webyze uses a search-and-select flow, not a persistent table ### Editing | Feature | Webyze Bulk Listing Editor | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk edit all major listing fields | Yes | Yes | | Diff preview before bulk apply | No | Yes | ### CSV | Feature | Webyze Bulk Listing Editor | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | CSV export of full catalog | No | Yes | | CSV import with validation | No | Yes | | CSV re-import with diff preview | No | Yes | ### Safety | Feature | Webyze Bulk Listing Editor | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Snapshot backup and restore | No | Yes | | Scheduled listing updates | No | Yes | Notes: - Scheduled listing updates, Everlyst: Growth plan and up ### Variations | Feature | Webyze Bulk Listing Editor | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Variation option add / remove / rename across listings | Yes | Yes | | Missing-variation detection | No | Yes | Notes: - Variation option add / remove / rename across listings, Webyze Bulk Listing Editor: A genuine Webyze strength ### Insights | Feature | Webyze Bulk Listing Editor | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Sales analytics dashboard | No | Yes | | Listing Health scoring | No | Yes | | Issue Detection quality audit | No | Yes | | Dead stock and declining-performer alerts | No | Yes | ### Pricing | Feature | Webyze Bulk Listing Editor | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Free tier without a card | No | Yes | Notes: - Free tier without a card, Webyze Bulk Listing Editor: Webyze: 7-day trial ### FAQ **Is Webyze cheaper than Everlyst Starter?** Yes. Webyze does not need to package or transfer the data. ## Everlyst vs eRank https://everlysthq.com/compare/erank/ eRank reads your listings, audits them, and researches keywords, trends, and competitors. It does not edit listings or write changes to your shop. Everlyst writes reviewed catalog changes to Etsy and does no keyword or competitor research. These products solve different jobs and can be used together. Verdict: eRank tells you what to change. Everlyst changes it. They are not substitutes, and a shop doing serious SEO work and serious catalog work can run both. Both have free tiers, so the combined workflow costs nothing to try. Highlights: - Keyword and competitor research from eRank - Reviewed catalog changes from Everlyst - Different listing-quality checks for different jobs - Free tiers for testing both workflows together When eRank is the better choice: - Keyword research is your bottleneck. Everlyst does none at all. - You want to track competitor shops' estimated daily sales. - You want trend data across Etsy, Amazon, eBay, and other marketplaces. - You want AI-generated titles, tags, and descriptions. - You want a Chrome extension that overlays keyword data while you browse Etsy. - Your question is what to sell and what to call it, not how to change 400 listings safely. - Your catalog is small and your problem is visibility, not volume. Pricing: - eRank: Free is $0 with no card and no time limit: 5 keyword lookups, 1 competitor, 1 shop, 50 listings analyzed, 5 listing audits, and 1 AI Listing Helper use per day. Basic is $5.99/mo or $65.99/yr ($5.50/mo): 100 lookups, 5 competitors, up to 5 shops, 200 listings, 50 audits, and 10 AI uses per day. Pro is $9.99/mo or $94.99/yr ($7.92/mo): 200 lookups, 50 competitors, up to 10 shops, 4,000 listings, 200 audits, and 20 AI uses per day. Expert is $29.99/mo or $269.99/yr ($22.50/mo): 500 lookups, 200 competitors, up to 100 shops, 5,000 listings, 500 audits, and 100 AI uses per day. Everlyst handles reviewed catalog changes, CSV workflows, variations, scheduling, recovery, and transaction-based insights. Both have free tiers, so a shop doing both kinds of work can use both without paying to start. **Can eRank bulk edit Etsy listings?** No. eRank reads and audits listing data, but it does not edit listings or write changes to an Etsy shop. **Can Everlyst do keyword research?** Everlyst cannot do keyword research and has no plans to add it. **How do eRank and Everlyst use sales data differently?** eRank estimates other shops' daily sales from public data. Everlyst reports your own shop performance from real transaction history. Those are separate data sources and separate questions. **Can I try eRank and Everlyst for free?** Yes. eRank Free has no card requirement and no time limit. Everlyst also has a permanent free tier with no card requirement. ## Everlyst vs Etsy Shop Manager https://everlysthq.com/compare/etsy-shop-manager/ Etsy Shop Manager's built-in bulk editor is free, requires no connection step, and covers most of what many sellers change: titles, tags, descriptions, prices, production partners, renewal options, shipping profiles, and sections. Every Etsy seller already has it. Everlyst becomes useful where the native workflow stops, including bulk creation, reviewed diffs, recovery, scheduling, cross-listing variations, and catalog insights. Verdict: Everlyst earns its price only when you need work Etsy's native editor does not cover: creating listings in bulk, previewing before applying, undoing afterwards, editing variations across listings, scheduling, and reporting on your own sales history. If none of those are your problem, Etsy Shop Manager's free tool is the right answer. Highlights: - Seven common bulk-edit fields covered by both tools - Production-partner bulk edits remain in Etsy Shop Manager - Preview, recovery, scheduling, and CSV creation from Everlyst - Etsy Shop Manager remains part of the workflow either way When Etsy Shop Manager is the better choice: - Your catalog is small enough that native bulk edit covers you. It is free and already there. - You only change titles, tags, descriptions, prices, renewal options, shipping profiles, or sections. Etsy handles all seven natively for free. - You bulk edit production partners. Etsy documents this field, while Everlyst does not list it among its bulk-edit fields. - You would rather not connect a third-party application to your shop. Everlyst requires Etsy OAuth. - You are not paying for software now and do not want to start. Pricing: - Etsy Shop Manager: Free. Built into every Etsy shop, with no subscription and no connection step. - Everlyst: Free tier with no card. Starter $9/mo, Growth $15/mo, Pro $28/mo, with annual discounts on every tier. ### Editing | Feature | Etsy Shop Manager | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk edit titles | Yes | Yes | | Bulk edit tags | Yes | Yes | | Bulk edit descriptions | Yes | Yes | | Bulk edit prices | Yes | Yes | | Bulk edit renewal options | Yes | Yes | | Bulk edit shipping profiles | Yes | Yes | | Bulk edit sections | Yes | Yes | | Bulk edit production partners | Yes | No | | Bulk edit quantity | No | Yes | | Bulk edit personalization | No | Yes | | Bulk edit return policy | No | Yes | Notes: - Bulk edit quantity, Etsy Shop Manager: Quantity is not included in Etsy's documented bulk-edit list - Bulk edit personalization, Etsy Shop Manager: Personalization is not included in Etsy's documented bulk-edit list - Bulk edit return policy, Etsy Shop Manager: Return policy is not included in Etsy's documented bulk-edit list ### CSV | Feature | Etsy Shop Manager | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk create new listings from CSV | No | Yes | Notes: - Bulk create new listings from CSV, Etsy Shop Manager: Etsy documents no way to bulk upload new listings; its workaround is copying one listing at a time ### Safety | Feature | Etsy Shop Manager | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Diff preview before bulk apply | No | Yes | | Backup & Restore after bulk changes | No | Yes | | Scheduled listing updates | No | Yes | ### Variations | Feature | Etsy Shop Manager | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Cross-listing variation editing | No | Yes | Notes: - Cross-listing variation editing, Etsy Shop Manager: Variations and variation-level data are not included in Etsy's documented bulk-edit list ### Insights | Feature | Etsy Shop Manager | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Listing Health scoring | No | Yes | | Dead stock detection | No | Yes | ### Media | Feature | Etsy Shop Manager | Everlyst | | --- | --- | --- | | Bulk image management | No | Yes | Notes: - Bulk image management, Etsy Shop Manager: Images are not included in Etsy's documented bulk-edit list - Bulk image management, Everlyst: Growth adds multi-listing uploads with alt text and variation image mapping ### FAQ **Can Etsy bulk edit titles and descriptions?** Yes. Etsy Shop Manager documents bulk editing for titles, tags, descriptions, prices, production partners, renewal options, shipping profiles, and sections. **Can Etsy bulk upload new listings?** No. Etsy documents no way to bulk upload new listings. Its documented workaround is copying an existing listing one at a time. **Do I still need Etsy Shop Manager if I use Everlyst?** Yes. Etsy Shop Manager is the platform where you sell. Everlyst adds an operational layer for selected catalog workflows and is not a replacement for Shop Manager. **What does Everlyst add beyond Etsy Shop Manager bulk edit?** Everlyst adds CSV bulk creation, diff preview before applying, Backup & Restore afterwards, scheduling, cross-listing variation editing, Listing Health, and dead stock detection. **When is Etsy Shop Manager enough on its own?** Use Etsy's free native tool when its documented fields cover your work and you do not need CSV creation, review-before-apply controls, recovery, scheduling, cross-listing variations, or Everlyst's catalog insights. # Migration guides https://everlysthq.com/migrate/ ## Switching from Vela to Everlyst https://everlysthq.com/migrate/vela/ Everlyst receives access from Etsy through OAuth and reads the catalog that is already live there. Vela does not have to package, transfer, or hand off any listing data. What you will miss from Vela: - You sell on Etsy and Shopify, eBay, or Faire from the same catalog. - You want AI copy, AI photo studio work, and AI listing scoring as core workflow. - You need to give a VA or team member access without sharing Etsy credentials. Tier fit: Growth at $15/mo is the lowest Everlyst tier for the shared scheduling and variation workflows. It is $4.95/mo less than Vela Lite's $19.95 starting price. ## Switching from Evlista to Everlyst https://everlysthq.com/migrate/evlista/ The source catalog remains Etsy, so Everlyst reads current listings through its own OAuth connection. Evlista is not asked to produce a file or participate in the switch. What you will miss from Evlista: - Automated dynamic repricing matters to you (Evlista Pro adjusts prices from sales performance, with your approval and price floors). - You do heavy bulk photo work beyond adding text: a full overlay editor plus crop and filter tools applied across listings. - You want the lowest possible free entry (Evlista's free tier covers bulk titles and return policies across unlimited shops). Tier fit: Growth at $15/mo is the lowest Everlyst tier for the shared variation workflows. It is $4.95/mo less than Evlista Pro at $19.95/mo. Before cancelling: Evlista's pricing states that listing backups are deleted if you cancel. ## Switching from Shop Uploader to Everlyst https://everlysthq.com/migrate/shop-uploader/ No Shop Uploader spreadsheet is needed to establish the Everlyst workspace. Etsy authorizes the connection, and Everlyst syncs the listings from the marketplace records themselves. What you will miss from Shop Uploader: - Your entire workflow is spreadsheet-authored and you don't want a workspace. - You need listing translation into every Etsy-supported language. - Your monthly create and update volume is small and predictable, so metered pricing stays cheap. Tier fit: Growth at $15/mo is the lowest Everlyst tier for the shared variation-editing workflow. It is $10/mo more than Shop Uploader's $5 entry plan and $24/mo less than its $39 500-listing plan, so the direction depends on volume. ## Switching from CSV Lister to Everlyst https://everlysthq.com/migrate/csv-lister/ Everlyst starts with Etsy OAuth, not a CSV Lister handoff. The current catalog is read from Etsy, which removes any separate transfer window or duplicate source of truth. What you will miss from CSV Lister: - Your workflow is create-heavy and spreadsheet-only, and the ops meter fits your daily volume. - You want per-category templates with drop-down data entry for complex variation authoring. - You plan to expand to Shopify or eBay through the same vendor when those integrations ship. Tier fit: Growth at $15/mo is the lowest Everlyst tier for the shared variation workflow. It is $4/mo less than CSV Lister's $19 entry plan and $74/mo less than the $89 Plus tier required to edit existing listings. ## Switching from Bulk Listing Pro to Everlyst https://everlysthq.com/migrate/bulk-listing-pro/ A Bulk Listing Pro browser session is not the migration path. Everlyst establishes its own Etsy OAuth connection and builds the workspace from the listings currently held by Etsy. What you will miss from Bulk Listing Pro: - Your upload volume is spiky and unpredictable, so pay-per-listing credits beat any subscription. - You want AI-generated titles, tags, and descriptions, or AI translation to ten languages, priced per listing. - You prefer a tool that runs inside your own browser session with no OAuth grant. Tier fit: The shared variation workflow starts on Everlyst Growth at $15/mo. This is a price increase for light use against $1.99 per 25 listings. At that listed starting rate, eight packs cover 200 listings for $15.92, roughly the Growth price. ## Switching from Listadum to Everlyst https://everlysthq.com/migrate/listadum/ Listadum's catalog does not need to be copied into Everlyst. Etsy grants OAuth access directly, and its live records populate the new workspace without a transfer between vendors. What you will miss from Listadum: - Keyword research, tag analysis, and competitor shop tracking are central to your workflow. - You want AI helpers (copy, video generation, image upscaling) built into your listing manager. - You want Pinterest promotion with click tracking from the same tool. Tier fit: Growth at $15/mo is the lowest Everlyst tier for the shared variation profiles and analytics. That matches Listadum's $15 paid starting price. ## Switching from Webyze Bulk Listing Editor to Everlyst https://everlysthq.com/migrate/webyze-bulk-editor/ Webyze does not supply the catalog to Everlyst. Etsy OAuth provides independent access to the current shop, so no file movement or vendor-to-vendor exchange occurs. What you will miss from Webyze Bulk Listing Editor: - You want the cheapest flat-price bulk editor on the market and need nothing beyond edits. - Deep variation option management (add, remove, rename across listings) is your main job. - You want a minimal single-purpose tool with no learning curve. Tier fit: Switching is a $7/mo price increase from Webyze at $8/mo. Growth at $15/mo is the lowest Everlyst tier for the shared cross-listing variation workflow. # Alternatives https://everlysthq.com/alternatives/ Disclosure: We make Everlyst and run this site. ## Vela alternatives https://everlysthq.com/alternatives/vela/ Vela combines multichannel publishing with AI copy, photo, and scoring tools, plus CSV workflows and scheduling. Best if: - Your entire workflow is spreadsheet-authored and you don't want a workspace. - You need listing translation into every Etsy-supported language. - Your monthly create and update volume is small and predictable, so metered pricing stays cheap. ### Webyze Bulk Listing Editor Webyze is the narrowest move from Vela, trading platform breadth for a single flat-price editing tool. Summary: Simple $8 web app for Etsy bulk edits. Pricing: $8/mo flat, single tier, all features, 7-day trial. Best if: - You want the cheapest flat-price bulk editor on the market and need nothing beyond edits. - Deep variation option management (add, remove, rename across listings) is your main job. - You want a minimal single-purpose tool with no learning curve. ## Evlista alternatives https://everlysthq.com/alternatives/evlista/ Evlista is strong at Etsy-only editing, especially bulk photography, variation profiles, backups, and dynamic repricing. Sellers tend to compare other options when CSV round trips, scheduling, pre-apply review, or performance analytics become central. Disclosure: We make Everlyst and run this site. It is included below with the other options. Everlyst fits Etsy-only sellers who want previewed, reversible bulk operations and transaction-based analytics. It does not fit sellers who need multichannel publishing, AI generation, or team access. Ordering: Vela comes first because it preserves more photo and profile capability while adding CSV and scheduling. The rest are ordered by coverage of Evlista’s missing operational and analytics features. ### Vela Vela keeps reusable profiles and broader photo capability, then adds CSV workflows, scheduling, multichannel publishing, and AI tools. Summary: AI-first multichannel listing manager. Pricing: Lite from $19.95/mo per shop (0 to 500 listings), scaling to $44.95/mo for large catalogs; Plus adds the AI suite at a higher rate. Monthly only, no annual plans, 7-day trial, no permanent free tier. Best if: - You sell on Etsy and Shopify, eBay, or Faire from the same catalog. - You want AI copy, AI photo studio work, and AI listing scoring as core workflow. - You need to give a VA or team member access without sharing Etsy credentials. ### Everlyst Everlyst gives up Evlista’s repricing and deep bulk photo editor to add CSV review, scheduling, and transaction-based insights. Summary: Etsy-only bulk listing manager with review-first changes, Backup & Restore, and transaction-based analytics. Pricing: Free. Starter $9/mo. Growth $15/mo. Pro $28/mo. Best if: - You sell on Etsy only and want a synced catalog workspace. - You want changes previewed before they apply and reversible after they run. - You want CSV round trips, scheduling, variation tools, and analytics instead of AI generation. ### Listadum Listadum pairs backup history with analytics, AI helpers, keyword research, and team access, but still lacks scheduling and CSV import. Summary: Etsy listing manager with analytics and AI tools. Pricing: Generous free tier. Paid from $15/mo flat regardless of listing count. Best if: - Keyword research, tag analysis, and competitor shop tracking are central to your workflow. - You want AI helpers (copy, video generation, image upscaling) built into your listing manager. - You want Pinterest promotion with click tracking from the same tool. ### Bulk Listing Pro Bulk Listing Pro offers low-commitment credits and AI creation for sporadic uploads rather than Evlista’s persistent Etsy editor. Summary: Pay-as-you-go Chrome extension for Etsy uploads. Pricing: Credit packs from $1.99 per 25 listings, no subscription, with 10 free starter credits. AI generation costs 2 credits per listing; AI translation 1 credit. Credits favor spiky, low-volume use. Best if: - Your upload volume is spiky and unpredictable, so pay-per-listing credits beat any subscription. - You want AI-generated titles, tags, and descriptions, or AI translation to ten languages, priced per listing. - You prefer a tool that runs inside your own browser session with no OAuth grant. ### Shop Uploader Shop Uploader covers spreadsheet creation and updates with translation, but does not replace Evlista’s synced editing workspace. Summary: Spreadsheet-metered Etsy upload and update tool. Pricing: $5/mo (50 listings) to $39/mo (500 listings), business tiers to $300/mo. Every plan meters creates, updates, and partial updates; extra shops are $5/mo each. 7-day trial, no free tier. Best if: - Your entire workflow is spreadsheet-authored and you don't want a workspace. - You need listing translation into every Etsy-supported language. - Your monthly create and update volume is small and predictable, so metered pricing stays cheap. ### CSV Lister CSV Lister is a spreadsheet alternative for create-heavy work, with editing gated behind its higher-priced plan. Summary: Ops-metered spreadsheet tool for Etsy. Pricing: $4.99 one-time 3-day trial, then $19/mo (200 ops/day) to $149/mo (4,000 ops/day). Best if: - You want the cheapest flat-price bulk editor on the market and need nothing beyond edits. - Deep variation option management (add, remove, rename across listings) is your main job. - You want a minimal single-purpose tool with no learning curve. ## Shop Uploader alternatives https://everlysthq.com/alternatives/shop-uploader/ Shop Uploader is built for sellers who author listings in spreadsheets, use templates, map images to variations, and translate across Etsy languages. Alternatives become relevant when the operation meter, lack of a browsable catalog, or missing preview and recovery tools start limiting the workflow. Disclosure: We make Everlyst and run this site. It is included below with the other options. Everlyst fits Etsy-only sellers who want previewed, reversible bulk operations and transaction-based analytics. It does not fit sellers who need multichannel publishing, AI generation, or team access. Ordering: CSV Lister leads because it most closely preserves Shop Uploader’s spreadsheet-led operating model. Disclosure: We make Everlyst and run this site. It is included below with the other options. Everlyst fits Etsy-only sellers who want previewed, reversible bulk operations and transaction-based analytics. It does not fit sellers who need multichannel publishing, AI generation, or team access. Ordering: Shop Uploader comes first because it keeps CSV Lister’s spreadsheet and template model. The remaining order reflects how fully each option addresses the meter, review, workspace, and insight gaps. ### Shop Uploader Shop Uploader keeps spreadsheet authoring and category templates while adding broad Etsy-language translation. Summary: Spreadsheet-metered Etsy upload and update tool. Pricing: $5/mo (50 listings) to $39/mo (500 listings), business tiers to $300/mo. Everlyst is not for you if: - You sell beyond Etsy, so use Vela for multichannel publishing. - You want AI copy or photo tools, so compare Vela; if AI translation is also central, use Bulk Listing Pro. - You need keyword research, tag analysis, or competitor shop tracking, so use Listadum. - You need automated dynamic repricing, so use Evlista. - Heavy bulk photo work is central to your operation, so use Evlista. - You need team or VA access today, so compare Vela and Listadum. - You want a flat-price editor and nothing beyond edits, so use Webyze Bulk Listing Editor. - Your volume is spiky and low, so use Bulk Listing Pro for pay-as-you-go credits. - Your catalog is small enough that Etsy’s own bulk editor already covers the work. Plan fit: - Free ($0): Use Free while a smaller shop is testing a synced workspace, a few daily bulk jobs, basic Backup & Restore, and a 30-day sales view. - Starter ($9/mo): Use Starter for a shop that needs frequent bulk editing, advanced filters, deeper listing health signals, and 90 days of sales history. Link additional shops to the same account and choose a plan for each shop. - Growth ($15/mo): Use Growth when variations, scheduled updates, five years of analytics, payment-based fee detail, and full-catalog dead stock alerts shape the workflow. - Pro ($28/mo): Use Pro when listing creation volume is high and pricing intelligence, individual video management, and longer restore retention justify the larger plan. # Features ## All Listings workspace https://everlysthq.com/features/all-listings/ Search, sort, filter, and edit every listing in your shop from a single synced view - no more bouncing between Etsy tabs. Capabilities: - View every listing - active, draft, expired, sold-out - in one filterable table. - Sort by listing score, see the cleanup tier at a glance, and click through to the relevant Issue Detection view. - Inline-edit any cell and write the change back to Etsy without opening a separate editor. - Save filter and sort presets you can return to from the sidebar. - Switch between dense list view (best for auditing) and image-led grid view (best for visual scanning). - Jump straight from any listing into bulk-edit, scheduling, or backup workflows. How it works: - Connect with Etsy OAuth: One sign-in pulls your full catalog into Everlyst with the right read and write scopes. - Browse, search, and filter: Find any listing in seconds using full-text search plus filters on status, section, tag, stock, and price. - Edit in place: Click into a cell to update it. Everlyst validates the change and syncs it back to Etsy in the background. ## Upload Listing https://everlysthq.com/features/upload-listing/ Download the wide listing template or export your catalog, fill in new listings in a spreadsheet, then upload for validation and preview before anything reaches Etsy. The template now carries the full listing - materials, personalization, return policy, weight and dimensions, production partners, and inline variations. Capabilities: - Generate a wide CSV template with every Etsy create field already mapped - title, description, tags, materials, price, quantity, personalization, return policy, shipping, weight and dimensions, production partners, and inline variation slots. - Or export your existing catalog as a starting point and adapt rows into new listings. - Drag-and-drop upload with row-by-row validation showing exactly which cells need fixing before anything publishes. - Re-import the same wide sheet by listing ID to update existing listings, checked against Etsy's rules first. - Preview each new listing in a near-final layout, then publish the whole batch in one confirmed step. How it works: - Get the template: Download the wide listing template, or export your catalog if you want existing listings as a starting point. - Fill it in: Edit in Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers using the columns Everlyst expects, including inline variation slots. - Upload and validate: Drop the file on the Import & Export page. Everlyst detects the format, flags missing or invalid cells, and shows what Etsy would reject. - Preview and publish: Review every listing in a near-final preview, then confirm to publish the batch in one go. ## Make Listing https://everlysthq.com/features/make-listing/ A visual editor that shows your listing the way buyers will see it - so you can see exactly where each field lands instead of filling out a long, abstract form. Capabilities: - Build new listings inside a layout that mirrors the buyer-facing product page. - See exactly where each field - title, photos, variations, attributes, description - will appear. - Get inline tips on character limits, required attributes, and SEO-friendly title patterns. - Save drafts and finish later from any device. - Duplicate a finished listing as a starting point for the next one. How it works: - Pick a starting point: Start from blank, an existing listing, or a draft you saved earlier. - Fill it in visually: Each section of the form maps to a part of the buyer page, so you always know what the buyer will see. - Preview and publish: Confirm the listing in a final preview, then push it live to Etsy in one click. ## Bulk Edit https://everlysthq.com/features/bulk-edit/ Select listings, choose fields, apply changes, and see exactly what will change before anything is sent to Etsy. Capabilities: - Select listings by filter, search, or hand-pick - then run one edit across the whole set. - Change titles (find/replace, prepend, append), descriptions, prices (flat, percentage, formula), quantities, tags, materials, sections, shipping and return policies, processing and renewal settings, maker details, and personalization - across the whole set. - See a clear before-and-after diff for every affected listing before you confirm. - Validate the payload up-front so Etsy-rejected changes never leave your machine. - Auto-snapshot the affected listings so a one-click rollback is always available. How it works: - Select your listings: Use filters, search, or manual selection from the All Listings table. - Pick the fields and the change: Choose which fields to update and how - find/replace, set value, increase by percentage, and more. - Review the diff: Everlyst shows you the exact before-and-after for every listing. - Confirm and apply: One click runs the job, with a snapshot saved automatically so you can roll back any time. ## Advanced Edit https://everlysthq.com/features/advanced-edit/ A full-page editor for changing a single field across a set of listings, where every listing keeps its own value. Hand-tune each row, or apply find-and-replace, copy-down, and percentage adjustments to the whole set. Capabilities: - Launch from any selection in All Listings and edit one field - title, description, tags, materials, price, quantity, shipping, return policy, section, renewal, or maker details - with every listing laid out in a single editable column. - Keep each listing's value distinct - type directly into any row instead of forcing one value onto the whole set. - Reach for batch tools when you want them - find-and-replace, prepend or append, copy one listing's value down to the rest, add or remove a tag across the group, set a number, or adjust price and quantity by amount or percentage. - Edit variation-heavy listings safely - price and quantity on varied listings stay read-only here and remain owned by the Variations tool. - Apply through the same reviewed job queue as the rest of your bulk work, with a snapshot saved automatically for one-click rollback. How it works: - Select and open: Pick the listings you want from All Listings, then open Advanced Edit. - Choose a field: Select the field to work on. Every selected listing shows its current value in an editable column. - Tune or batch: Edit rows individually, or use find-and-replace, copy-down, and set/adjust tools to move the whole set at once. - Review and apply: Confirm the changes and apply. A snapshot is saved so you can roll back any time. ## Variations https://everlysthq.com/features/variations/ Find listings missing variations, add the ones they should have, and bulk-edit pricing, quantity, SKUs, option visibility, and processing profiles across hundreds of variation rows at once. Capabilities: - Scan your catalog for listings that are missing expected variation groups or option values. - Bulk-apply a variation template across a group of listings in one operation. - Edit variation pricing in bulk - set a flat value, or adjust by a fixed amount or percentage. - Update variation quantity and SKU across many listings without opening each one. - Turn individual variations on or off without losing their price, quantity, or SKU - and set a processing profile per variation on physical listings. - Filter and sort by variation groups and option values to drill into option-heavy parts of the catalog. How it works: - Audit your catalog: Run the variation audit to surface listings missing expected variation groups or option values. - Apply a template: Save a set of variations as a reusable template, then apply it across the listings that need it. - Bulk-edit variation fields: Update pricing, quantity, SKUs, option visibility, and processing profiles from one panel. - Queue and track: Confirm your changes and they're queued as a job, with progress you can follow as they write back to Etsy. ## Scheduling https://everlysthq.com/features/scheduling/ Schedule price changes, sales, launches, and bulk edits to run on a specific day and time - with automatic rollback when the sale window ends. Capabilities: - Stage any bulk edit to run at a specific date and time, in your timezone. - Set up a sale that drops prices when it starts and rolls them back when it ends - automatically. - View all scheduled jobs in a calendar so you can see what is coming up across the catalog. - Edit, reorder, or cancel scheduled jobs before they run. - Snapshot the affected listings right before each scheduled job runs so rollback is always one click away. How it works: - Build the change: Set up a bulk edit the way you normally would. - Choose when it runs: Pick a date and time instead of running it now. For sales, pick a start and an end. - Sit back: Everlyst takes a snapshot, runs the job at the scheduled moment, and rolls back when the sale window closes if you set one. ## Images & Media https://everlysthq.com/features/images-media/ Manage listing images, alt text, videos, and variation image mappings from one workspace. Work on one listing or select a group, stage the change, and follow per-listing status while the queued job applies. Capabilities: - Open an individual listing and add, remove, reorder, or replace its real synced images on Growth and Pro, with individual video controls on Pro. - Upload up to 20 images in one bulk operation on Growth and Pro, placing the set at the start or end of each selected listing's gallery. - Add alt text to each staged image once and apply that text everywhere the image lands. - Skip listings already at Etsy's 20-image cap safely instead of failing the rest of the bulk image job. - Add text to one photo across selected listings on Growth and Pro, with three fonts, nine positions, an optional banner, and a preview of every listing before anything changes. The original photo is replaced and not kept. - Set or replace one shared video across selected listings on Pro. - Pick a shared variation property and map its values by image position or one shared upload, using each listing's live variations at apply time and skipping listings without the property. - Follow queued job progress and per-listing status while each media change writes back to Etsy. How it works: - Choose listings: Open one listing for focused changes or select multiple eligible listings for a shared media operation. - Stage media changes: Add images with alt text and start or end placement, map variation values to listing photos, or prepare a video where your plan allows it. - Apply and refresh: Send the queued media job, watch progress, and refresh the affected listing media when the job completes. ## Sales Analytics https://everlysthq.com/features/sales-analytics/ Everlyst imports your actual receipts and payment ledger from Etsy, then shows monthly revenue and units, rolling KPIs, top listings, revenue concentration, and seasonal patterns. Imported once, kept current automatically. Capabilities: - Import your shop's real sales history once, newest data first, so the page unlocks quickly while older history fills in behind the scenes. - Read monthly revenue and units across your entitled history, alongside rolling 30-day performance. - See your top listings by revenue, including listings you have since deleted, so the picture stays complete. - Identify revenue concentration on Growth and Pro, showing which listings actually carry the shop. - Spot month-of-year seasonal patterns on Growth and Pro once your history is deep enough to support them. How it works: - Import once: On first visit, Everlyst pulls your receipts and payment ledger from Etsy. Recent data lands first and the page unlocks as soon as a usable slice is ready. - Stay current automatically: After the first import, your data refreshes on its own. There is no re-import chore and no manual sync to remember. - Read the shop, then act: Use the monthly series and top-listings view to decide where attention goes, then carry the work into Bulk Edit or the Variations editor. ## Listing Health https://everlysthq.com/features/listing-health/ Each listing scored against the rest of your shop, weighted across sales, views, fees, and favorites, then sorted worst-first so weak spots surface immediately. Expand any row for a 12-month sales chart, real fee figures, and a plain suggestion. Capabilities: - Score every listing against the rest of your active catalog using percentile ranks weighted across sales, views, fees, and favorites. - Filter by category to work through Dead Stock, Declining, High Potential, or Top Performers as a focused list. - Expand any row for a 12-month sales chart and a plain-language suggestion for what to do next. - Review the per-listing fee breakdown on Growth and Pro, built from charges actually observed in your Etsy payment ledger. - See variation-level sales on Growth and Pro, so you know which sizes and options sell and which sit unsold. How it works: - Import your history once: Listing Health runs on the same one-time sales import as the rest of the Insights group. After that it stays current automatically. - Read the table worst-first: The default sort puts your weakest listings on top. Category cards narrow the table to the group you want to work through. - Expand and act: Open a row for the sales chart, fees, and suggestion, then make the change through Bulk Edit or Advanced Edit with the usual preview. ## Backup & Restore https://everlysthq.com/features/backup-restore/ Review retained snapshots from supported operations and restore eligible saved values, with compatibility and outcome checks. Capabilities: - Capture saved values for supported editing operations. - Browse retained job history and available snapshots. - Review the available saved values and operation details. - Restore eligible saved values through a tracked job. - Keep retention windows generous - dozens to hundreds of jobs depending on plan. How it works: - Save supported changes: Supported edit workflows capture operation-specific values before changes. - Open retained history: Find the retained job and inspect its results and available snapshot. - Check restore eligibility: Review the job and any compatibility or outcome restrictions before confirming. - Confirm and review results: Confirm the restore job, then review which saved values were restored and any warnings. ## Dead Stock https://everlysthq.com/features/dead-stock/ Active listings that keep renewing without selling, in one view. Pick a window from 30 to 365 days, see the fees those listings have accrued, project the annual cost of staying on auto-renew, and change deactivation or renewal settings through queued jobs. Capabilities: - Flag active listings with no sales inside a window you choose, from 30 to 365 days, including never-sold listings older than the window. - See the renewal fees actually charged against flagged listings in your payment history, not a modeled estimate. - Read a per-listing recommendation for whether to deactivate, refresh, or review. - Deactivate one listing or a whole batch directly from the page, through the same queued and tracked pathway as every other bulk change. - Switch non-selling auto-renew listings to manual renewal singly or in bulk, then watch the queued job apply. - Project the annual renewal cost of non-selling auto-renew listings from the renewal fees observed in your payment history. - Flag selling listings that are not set to auto-renew on Growth and Pro, with one bulk action to enable auto-renew for the at-risk group. - Watch job progress as deactivation and renewal changes apply, with the listing state reflected when the job completes. How it works: - Pick a window: Choose how long without a sale counts as dead, anywhere from 30 to 365 days. The list and fee totals update to match. - Read the cost: Each flagged listing shows the renewal fees observed against it since your import began, so the cost of leaving it active is a real number. - Choose the safer renewal path: Deactivate dead stock, move auto-renew listings to manual renewal, or enable auto-renew in bulk for selling listings at risk of expiry. ## Pricing Intelligence https://everlysthq.com/features/pricing-intelligence/ Every active listing compared against its shop-section average, a sale price trend built from what buyers actually paid, and deterministic recommendations with reviewed, reduction-only Quick Apply. Capabilities: - Compare each active listing's price against the average of its shop section, with a shop-wide fallback when a section is too small to be a fair benchmark. - Suppress comparisons entirely when the data cannot support one, instead of showing a number the page cannot stand behind. - Read a monthly sale price trend derived from what buyers actually paid, weighted by quantity, reflecting discounts and variation pricing. - Sort by price difference or days since last sale to surface stale, above-average listings first. - Apply reviewed percentage reductions directly to one listing or a selected group without flattening variation price spreads. - Set a minimum price and optional .99 or .95 ending, with a hard cap that prevents any offering from ending above its starting price. - Confirm each adjustment before it enters the tracked bulk-operation queue, with a pre-change snapshot available through Backup & Restore. How it works: - Benchmark within the shop: Listings are compared to their own shop section when it has enough active priced listings, and to the shop-wide average otherwise. Too little data means no comparison, by design. - Read the trend: The sale price trend shows the average sold price per month. It is labeled as sold price, not listed price, because that is what it is. - Review a reduction: Select one listing or the recommended set, choose a percentage, optional floor, and rounding ending, then confirm the reduction before it is queued. - Preserve and protect the catalog: Each variation offering keeps its relative price, recently changed listings enter a half-window cooldown, and a pre-change snapshot makes the inventory prices restorable. ## CSV Export https://everlysthq.com/features/csv-export/ Export your Etsy catalog in three formats - a wide listing sheet, a Listings sheet for field edits, and a Variations sheet for per-option changes - each ready to edit in a spreadsheet and re-import with validation and a preview. Capabilities: - Export a wide listing sheet - one row per listing with variations inline - as a full-shape backup or a seed for bulk creation. - Export a Listings sheet - one row per listing - built for editing listing-level fields like title, price, tags, and section; varied listings carry a read-only variation summary. - Export a Variations sheet - one row per offering - built for editing per-variation price, quantity, and SKU. - Edit any of the three in Google Sheets or Excel, then re-import through the Import & Export page with full validation and a diff preview before publish. - Keep exports as offline backups of your catalog state, separate from the in-app Backup & Restore history. How it works: - Pick the sheet: Choose the wide, Listings, or Variations format depending on whether you're creating, editing fields, or adjusting options. - Export: Everlyst builds a CSV with every relevant field and downloads it to your machine. - Edit and re-import: Make changes in your spreadsheet, then drop the file on the Import & Export page. Everlyst detects the format, validates it, and previews the diff before anything publishes. ## Orders https://everlysthq.com/features/orders/ Read open and recent orders in a PII-free dashboard with fulfillment deadline states, server-side filters and sorting, and whole-shop fulfillment counts. Stored data loads first and Etsy refreshes on page load when the 15-minute refresh window allows it. Capabilities: - See unshipped, due-soon, past-deadline, and shipped order states in one read-only table. - Read whole-shop counts for unshipped orders, missed deadlines, orders due within 24 hours, and orders shipped today. - Filter on the server by fulfillment state, order date, receipt ID, or listing title without loading the whole order history into the browser. - Sort by order date, processing deadline, or total, with pagination for larger result sets. - Load stored orders immediately, then refresh open and recently changed orders from Etsy on page load when the 15-minute throttle allows it. How it works: - Load the stored view: Everlyst opens the latest stored order and item data first, so the dashboard remains readable while a refresh runs. - Refresh from Etsy: The page checks Etsy for open and recently changed orders on load, with refreshes limited to once every 15 minutes. - Find the next deadline: Use fulfillment states, dates, search, and sorting to identify what needs attention, then complete fulfillment actions in Etsy. ## Review Analytics https://everlysthq.com/features/review-analytics/ See rating trends with listing-edit markers, find the listings pulling your shop average down, compare ratings by variation, and work through a filterable review feed with an acknowledge workflow. Capabilities: - Track average rating, review count, review rate, negative review share, and photo review rate with prior-period deltas. - Read a monthly rating trend with listing edits marked on the timeline, so you can see whether a change preceded a rating shift. - Sort listings by drag score, each listing's volume-weighted contribution to pulling the shop average down. - Compare variation-level ratings by joining each review to the transaction behind it. - Filter the review feed by rating, listing, photo, and acknowledgement state, with order context and changed-rating detection on each review. - Compare negative and positive review terms and rating versus shipping speed in the insights view on Growth and Pro. How it works: - Import once: Everlyst imports your Etsy reviews once, then keeps the review layer current automatically. - Join reviews to orders: Each review is matched to its transaction, which adds order context and makes variation-level ratings possible. - Read and acknowledge: Filter the feed, investigate listing and variation patterns, and acknowledge reviews after you have handled them. ## Issue Detection https://everlysthq.com/features/issue-detection/ Everlyst scores your synced listings, groups cleanup opportunities by issue type, and sends supported fixes into Bulk Edit or Advanced Edit so catalog cleanup turns into a real workflow. Capabilities: - Score synced listings across tag coverage, photo count, title length, description depth, return policy, shop section, materials, title/tag usage, description/tag usage, and longtail tag coverage. - Group issues by type so you can work through missing media, thin descriptions, sparse tags, and other cleanup patterns without opening every listing first. - Flag listings that are light on photos and open the Images & Media workspace for the affected listing to add them. - Drill into affected listings from the issue view, or open a listing's Issue Detection view from the Score column in All Listings. - Send supported fixes into Bulk Edit or Advanced Edit when a listing issue can be corrected through an existing editing workflow. - Track job progress for applied fixes and keep the same plan gates as the rest of Everlyst. How it works: - Open Issue Detection: Everlyst loads your synced listings and scores them in the app. - Pick an issue group: Review cleanup opportunities by type, then drill into the listings behind each group. - Apply supported fixes: Send supported changes into Bulk Edit or Advanced Edit and follow the job progress while they apply.
