Why export comes first
A lot of catalog work happens away from any app: a price review in a spreadsheet, a tag audit with a collaborator, a backup before a big seasonal change. Export is the bridge that makes those workflows possible without retyping anything, and it’s the first half of editing your shop in a spreadsheet and bringing it back.
A safety habit too
Even if you never edit it, an exported CSV is a plain, portable snapshot of where your catalog stood today. That’s a good thing to have before any large change.
