Sales & buyers
Favoriter
A buyer who has hearted one of your listings or your whole shop - they get notified when you run a sale on that item.
Quick facts
- Visible to seller: aggregate count, not individual identities
- Notifications: favoriters get an email when the favorited item goes on sale
- Conversion signal: high favorites with low orders often = price objection
- Where to see: Stats > Listings > Favorites column
A favoriter is anyone who’s clicked the heart icon on one of your listings or your shop. Etsy doesn’t show you who they are individually, just the aggregate count per listing and the total per shop.
Why favorites matter
- Sale notification. When you mark a listing on sale, Etsy emails everyone who’s favorited it. This is your most direct (and free) marketing channel for past visitors who didn’t convert.
- Conversion diagnostic. A listing with high favorites and low sales has a buyer-intent problem at the bottom of the funnel - usually price, shipping cost, or “saving for later.”
- Algorithm signal. Etsy uses favorites as one input to listing quality scoring (small but real).
How to use favorites
- Periodic sales to pull favoriters off the fence. A 10–15% off “Spring sale” emails every favoriter and converts a measurable chunk.
- Inventory planning - listings with high favorites but low sales are worth keeping (they have demand but pricing or trust friction); listings with low favorites and low sales aren’t.
What favorites don’t do
- Show you the buyer’s email or contact info. There’s no opt-in list.
- Convert by themselves over time. A favorite without a follow-up nudge usually never converts.
Tips
- Run a small sale on your top-favorited listings every 4–6 weeks. The email blast is free and the recovery rate is real.
