Etsy's internal score for how well a listing converts and engages buyers - a major search ranking input.

Etsy doesn’t publish your listing quality score, but it confirms it exists and uses it to rank search results. Roughly, it’s a composite of:
- Conversion rate (sales ÷ visits) - the heaviest factor.
- Click-through rate from search results (people seeing your listing in search and clicking).
- Engagement - favorites, cart-adds, time spent on the listing.
- Recency - newly published or recently sold listings get a small temporary boost.
- Completeness - every attribute, photo slot, and variation field filled.
What you actually do about it
You can’t see the score, so you optimize the inputs:
- Listings need to convert. Fix title and photos before chasing more impressions.
- Listings need to keep selling. A long sales gap drops the score; the temporary boost from a fresh sale is real.
- Listings need to be complete. Empty attributes, missing alt text, fewer than 5 photos - every gap is a small drag.
The “new listing boost” myth
Etsy gives newly-published listings a brief impression bump so their conversion can be measured. It’s not a re-listing trick. Deactivating and republishing the same listing doesn’t reset the boost - Etsy sees the underlying listing ID.
Why bulk completeness audits matter
A shop with 300 listings where 40% have empty attribute sets is dragging its average quality score across the entire shop. Mass-filling those gaps is one of the highest-leverage SEO moves you can make.
