How to upload listings from a CSV

Last updated 2 min read

Quick answer

Download the template from the Upload page, fill in one row per listing (or one row per variation), drag the file into the upload zone, fix any validation errors in the preview, then confirm to send to Etsy.

CSV upload is how most sellers create dozens or hundreds of new listings at once. Everlyst’s flow validates every row before anything reaches Etsy.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to Upload → Create new listings.
  2. Download the CSV template. It has every column Etsy needs, with example rows and field-by-field hints.
  3. Fill in one row per listing. For listings with variations, follow the template’s variation pattern (one base row + N option rows).
  4. Drag the CSV into the upload zone (or click to browse).
  5. Review the validation results. Everlyst parses the file client-side (no upload until you confirm) and flags errors per row: missing required fields, tag length over 20, materials over 13, etc.
  6. Fix errors in your CSV and re-upload, or fix in Everlyst’s editable preview.
  7. Click Create listings. Everlyst sends them to Etsy in batches and shows live progress.

What gets validated

CheckExample error
Required fields”Title is required on row 12”
Field-length limits”Tag ‘handmade silver pendant’ exceeds 20 characters on row 4”
Numeric ranges”Quantity must be 0–999 on row 27”
Enum values”Renewal type must be ‘auto’ or ‘manual’ on row 8”
Reference integrity”Shipping profile ‘USA Standard’ does not exist in your shop”
Image URLs”Image URL is unreachable on row 19”

Tips that save hours

  • Start with an export. Export your existing catalog first (How to export your catalog to CSV), use those rows as templates, then add new rows.
  • Validate small first. Upload a 3-row CSV before you upload a 300-row one. Most template errors show up in the first few rows.
  • Keep your CSV in UTF-8. Excel sometimes defaults to a different encoding and breaks special characters. Use Save As → CSV UTF-8 in Excel, or use Google Sheets (which exports UTF-8 by default).
  • Don’t paste from Word. Smart quotes and non-breaking spaces frequently fail Etsy’s text validation. Plain-text copy/paste only.

What if upload fails partway

Everlyst processes uploads in batches. If a batch fails, the rest of the upload continues. You get a per-row report at the end showing which rows succeeded, which failed, and why. Failed rows can be re-tried after you fix them - no need to re-upload the whole file.
